Georgia Bulldogs wide receiver Marcus Rosemy comes into UGA as a four-star recruit. He helped St. Thomas Aquinas win a state championship.

Georgia Bulldogs wide receiver Marcus Rosemy comes into Athens as a four-star recruit. He’s widely considered a top ten wide receiver in the class of 2020. He helped St. Thomas Aquinas win a state championship in Florida last season.

Marcus Rosemy, Jermaine Burton, and speedster Arian Smith are Georgia’s receiving gems from the talented class of 2020. Kirby Smart focused heavily on receivers in the class of 2020 and it paid off. They’ll look to sure up UGA’s receiver issues that plagued them throughout last season.

Rosemy should see immediate playing time next season and could be Georgia’s No. 2 wide receiver behind George Pickens. He has the capability to catch heavily contested jump balls.

UGA football player card: WR Ladd McConkey

Georgia Bulldogs WR Ladd McConkey will compete with freshman receivers like Marcus Rosemy, Jermaine Burton, and speedster Arian Smith.

Ladd McConkey, Wide Receiver (#84):

Class: Freshman

Height: 6-0

Weight: 175 pounds

Hometown: Chatsworth, Georgia

High School: North Murray High School

Georgia Bulldogs wide receiver Ladd McConkey arrived in Athens this offseason as a three-star recruit. At North Murray, McConkey was a versatile athlete, who recorded over 3,000 total yards as a senior.

McConkey runs a 4.5 second forty yard dash and additionally ran some track in high school. Here’s how the true freshman committed to the University of Georgia this past offseason:

McConkey will compete with receivers like Marcus Rosemy, Jermaine Burton, and speedster Arian Smith for the rest of his career. Kirby Smart focused heavily on receivers in the class of 2020. They’ll look to sure up UGA’s receiver issues that plagued them throughout last season.

He wore a lot of hats in high school and managed to excel at almost every position on the field.

Blazing fast UGA WR signee Arian Smith undergoes wrist surgery

2020 Georgia football WR signee Arian Smith undergoes surgery on broken wrist, expected back in 4-8 weeks.

4-star Georgia wide receiver signee Arian Smith underwent surgery to repair a broken bone in his wrist, according to a report from DawgNation.

Smith is the fastest member of the Bulldogs’ 2020 recruiting class, winning the “Fastest Man Challenge” at the Under Armour All-American practices in Orlando this past December.

He apparently suffered the injury last football season but waited on surgery, Smith told DawgNation.

The 6-1, 170 pound receiver committed to Georgia the day after the Dawgs lost to LSU in last years’ SEC Championship.

He was ranked as the nation’s No. 7 receiver in the class of 2020 and the No. 42 overall player, per 247 Sports. Smith hails from Lakeland, Florida.

With a wrist surgery, it should take Smith anywhere between 4-8 weeks to fully recover, which should be around late June or early July. That’s right around the time that UGA president Jere Morehead is hoping to have fall student athletes back on campus.

Smith is crazy quick and has great catching abilities.  He will compliment sophomore receiver George Pickens very well and give incoming transfer quarterback Jamie Newman another great deep threat target.

Smith partnered with Matthew Boling, Georgia’s record breaking sprinter, in the USA’s U20 4×100 team last summer. For their age group, Smith and Boling are world record holders in the 4×100.

Smith’s top time posted in the 100 meters is at 10.31 seconds. That’s blazing. Even faster than Mecole Hardman, who Smith said the Georgia coaches used to convince him to come to Athens.

Watch: Chris Tyree Takes Second Place in Under Armour Fastest Man Competition

You don’t win football games by lining up and running 40 yards straight ahead time after time but in a competition this is promising for a player who has plenty of film that shows he’s more than just a sprinter in shoulder pads.

If you’ve heard Brian Kelly in recent days he’s mentioned he believes Notre Dame can take another step still in terms of their recruiting.  He pretty much has stated that they’re in a really good place but can still take it a step further.

One place where they improved recruiting this most recent class was at the running back position where they were able to sign Chris Tyree of Chester, Virginia, the highest rated running back to choose Notre Dame during Kelly’s tenure.

Tyree is participating in the Under Armour All-American Game this Thursday in Orlando where he was selected to be a game captain.

In preparation for Thursday’s event practices have been taking place in Orlando as day two (Monday, 12/30) brought about the annual fastest man competition.

Tyree didn’t disappoint, finishing second by a nose to Arian Smith, a future Georgia Bulldog.

Rivals Recruiting Director Mike Farrell went as far to call Tyree an immediate impact for Notre Dame.

Arian Smith, a 4-star wide receiver out of Lakeland, Florida, committed and signed with Georgia on the first day of the early signing period last week.

Smith is one of four 4-star wide receivers that the Dawgs signed in this class and ranks as the nation’s No. 14 WR recruit and No. 72 overall prospect on the 247Sports Composite ratings.

Smith is the fastest player in this class and may be the fastest in all of college football next season. He plans on running track at Georgia as well.

Four-star Georgia football wide receiver target Arian Smith picks the Dawgs

Four-star wide receiver target Arian Smith has officially committed to the Georgia Bulldogs.

The No. 72 overall player ranked No. 13 in the state of Florida per 247 Sports, Smith chose Georgia over Alabama, Florida, Oklahoma, Auburn and Clemson.

Though the Dawgs were thought to be the favorites in landing Smith after a visit to the Sunshine State last week and an official to Athens over the weekend, this is still a huge sigh of relief.

The Bulldogs pick up some much-needed speed at wide receiver, after losing the talented Isaiah McKenzie in 2016 and Mecole Hardman in 2018 to the NFL Draft.

Oh yeah, this goes without mentioning that Smith was on the 4×100 track team that broke U20 world records for Team USA over the summer with Georgia track signee Matthew Boling.

What a get for the Dawgs!

Blue chip Georgia football targets announce decision times

Two top UGA targets are set to announce their college decisions on ESPNU.

According to ESPN, five-star defensive lineman Jordan Burch will announce his college decision between Georgia and Clemson around 2:00 on ESPNU.

Burch, considered to be a lean to the Tigers, is ranked as the top collegiate prospect in the state of South Carolina, the second-ranked strong-side defensive end in the nation, and the country’s fifth overall player in the class of 2020.

Also announcing on ESPNU is wide receiver target Arian Smith, a long-time Georgia lean who will make his pick at 1:00 on the network.

The four-star speedster out of Lakeland, Florida is ranked as the 13th top prospect in Florida and the 14th-ranked receiver in the nation.

Early signing day is Wednesday, December 18.

Georgia looking to close out 2020 recruiting class with a bang

These are some of Georgia football’s top recruiting targets remaining in the class of 2020.

Georgia is currently sitting with the nation’s No. 6-rated recruiting class. The Dawgs have commitments from 15 athletes and have room for 23 this cycle.

During Coach Smart’s tenure, he has always closed the recruiting process strong and produced some unexpected surprises.

Who’s on the radar for UGA this season? The wish list includes talent that fill immediate needs and a few game changers.

Five-star cornerback Kelee Ringo from Arizona is the nation’s top cornerback and No. 1 rated player in the state. He was in Athens last week for his official visit. The Dawgs are battling Oregon, Ohio State, Texas and USC for the 6’2”, 205-pound corner, and at this moment, he’s a strong Georgia lean.

Four-star wide receiver Arian Smith from Lakeland, Florida is a strong Georgia lean. He’s the nation’s No.14 wideout and 13th-rated player in the state. The 6’1”, 175-pound speedster is expected to sign on Wednesday. Alabama, Oklahoma and Florida are still in the mix but Smith and current UGA commit Marcus Rosemy appear to be the future at the wide receiver position.

Four star cornerback Eric Reed from Shreveport, Lousiana visited Athens over the weekend and appears to be headed back to the Classic City this fall. The 6’1”, 205-pound prospect is the nation’s No. 14-rated corner and 7th overall rated player in the state. Auburn, Alabama, and LSU are pushing hard but expect Reed to sign with UGA on Wednesday.

With the graduation of tight ends Charlie Woerner and Eli Wolf, five-star tight end Darnell Washington is a must. The Desert Pines High (Las Vegas, NV) athlete is freak-like good. Washington, 6’7”, 261-pounds, is the nation’s No. 1 rated athlete and is matchup nightmare. Alabama, Florida and Tennessee are still seeking his services but but the Bulldogs are in the lead.

Four-star wideout Jermaine Burton from Calabasas, California is currently a LSU commit, but the 6’, 190-pound speedster was in Athens this weekend. The No.6-rated prospect in California is originally from Atlanta and the pull from the Peach State may be too hard to resist.

Four-star cornerback Dontae Manning from Kansas City made the long journey to Athens over the weekend for his official visit. The 6’, 185-pound athlete is the No. 6 rated corner in the country. Texas A&M and Oklahoma were in the lead but saving the final OV for Georgia is a good sign.

Four-star safety Major Burns was also in Athens this weekend. The 6’2”, 177-pound safety from Baton Rouge is a LSU lean but Georgia, Texas A&M and Oklahoma have a shot at the nation’s No. 5 rated safety.

Can Georgia make a final surge and a secure five-star Jordan Burch? The Palmetto State’s No. 1 prospect was on campus this weekend and Coach Smart recently had a home visit with the 6’4”, 275-pound defensive end. Alabama, Clemson, South Carolina and LSU are still in the mix for his signature. Burch is expected to sign on Wednesday.

5-star visitor adds to Georgia’s star-studded weekend

Georgia football is hosting a plethora of big name recruiting targets this weekend.

This weekend shaped up to be a big recruiting one for the Georgia Bulldogs.

5-star cornerback Kelee Ringo and 4-star wide receiver Arian Smith tweeted that they would be in Athens earlier.

4-star defensive tackle Jalen Carter also tweeted the same on Friday night.

And now, via his Snapchat, 5-star defensive end Jordan Burch has announced he will also be in Athens on Saturday.

Burch, a 6-5 275 pounder out of Columbia, South Carolina, is considered a Clemson lean at the moment.

He’s is the No. 5 overall prospect and the No. 2 strong-side defensive end in 247Sports rankings.

Georgia also just made an in-home visit to 4-star DB and former LSU commit Major Burns.

Additionally, there’s a few more coming to town this this weekend including 4-star CB Dontae Manning and 4-star DL commit Warren Brinson.
