Arch Manning to visit Texas for Iowa State game

Arch Manning is set to be on campus for Texas’ matchup against Iowa State.

Five-star quarterback Arch Manning is planning a return visit to Austin during the weekend of Oct. 15 for Texas’ matchup against Iowa State.

Manning is the nation’s No. 1 prospect in the 2023 recruiting cycle. He chose the Longhorns over the likes of Alabama, Georgia and Ole Miss.

The Texas commit is off to a fantastic start to his senior season at Isidore Newman High School. Manning threw for seven touchdowns in his last outing. Breaking his uncles Peyton and Eli’s school records in the process.

Anytime Manning can make the trip to campus serves as a huge win for Texas. Manning is the leader of the Longhorns’ 2023 class and has aided in the recruiting effort of more top prospects. Texas saw a wave of recruiting momentum swing in their favor after Arch’s commitment in June.

Texas’ class currently sits at No. 5 in the 247Sports composite rankings.

LOOK: Arch Manning arrives in Austin for a huge recruiting event

Arch Manning is back on the Forty Acres.

The end of July marks a massive recruiting stretch for Steve Sarkisian and his Texas staff. The Longhorns are hosting some of the top prospects in the class of 2023 and 2024 for a BBQ recruiting event this weekend.

One of the most important visitors making the trip is five-star quarterback and Texas commit Arch Manning.

The No. 1 prospect in the country has served as a leader of Texas’ 2023 class since his commitment in June.

Manning’s name and talent holds lots of weight with other prospects. Playing with the top recruit in the nation is a major draw for Texas’ 2023 class. The Horns quickly landed 12 commits after Manning’s announcement.

Texas is working to keep its recruiting momentum rolling heading into the 2022 season. The Longhorns sit at No. 4 in the overall team class ranking and have the chance to compete for the top spot by February.

Report: Four-star RB Rueben Owens to visit Texas on back-to-back weekends

Texas may have both Arch Manning and Rueben Owens on campus at the same time.

One of Texas’ biggest targets in the class of 2023 is set to visit campus on back-to-back weekends during spring practice.

On3Sports’ Gerry Hamilton reports four-star running back Rueben Owens will check out the program over the last weekend of March and the first weekend of April.

Owens is a former Texas commit, but the Longhorns are still very much in the thick of his recruitment. He has expressed interest in playing with five-star quarterback Arch Manning, who is also expected on campus the final weekend of March.

The El Campo product was named 2021 MaxPreps National Junior of the year after rushing for close to 3,000 yards and scoring 46 total touchdowns. One of the most dominant seasons from a running back in recent Texas High School Football memory.

Texas is looking to build some early momentum in the 2023 recruiting cycle.

Five-star QB Arch Manning reportedly set to visit Texas the weekend of March 24th

Arch Manning will be back on campus for a spring visit.

The top prospect in the class of 2023 will be in Austin the weekend of March 24th per a report from Inside Texas.

Five-star quarterback Arch Manning has been a frequent visitor around Texas’ campus, this time he will get a first-hand look at Texas’ spring practice.

While no one knows the timetable for Arch’s commitment, Texas has been in good standing with Manning from the get-go. Playing for a quarterback guru in Steve Sarkisian is a major factor in his recruitment. Manning wants a coach who can prepare him for the next level and Sark has a proven track record.

The Longhorns have been in talks to hire former Duke head coach David Cutcliffe as an analyst. Cutcliffe has a strong relationship with the Manning family as the former coach of both Peyton and Eli Manning.

Manning’s father mentioned Texas among six schools still under consideration in his recruitment.

Five-star 2023 QB Arch Manning set to visit Texas this weekend

This weekend looms large for the future of the program.

Monday mornings after a rivalry game loss are some of the toughest. Oklahoma coming back from behind and winning is heartbreaking fashion has stung for the past two days. But with Oklahoma State in town on Saturday, there is no time to reflect anymore.

Especially with the big recruiting weekend ahead. A ton of prospects will be in Austin but all eyes are going to be on Arch Manning.

As Steve Witflong of 247Sports reported back in September, the five-star quarterback will take an unofficial trip this weekend. He will be able to get in on Friday as Isidore Newman plays on Thursday night. An advantage for Steve Sarkisian with an early morning kickoff against Oklahoma State.

Manning has not been shy to talk about Austin, saying “it felt like home” during his visit over the summer. He also had high praise for Sarkisian as an offensive coach and person before the TCU game.

“Obviously they are great in offense, offensive-minded. They haven’t punted in two games. So, they’re really good, and they’re just laid back, good people. That’s the kind of guys I like.”

How important this recruitment is for Texas cannot be emphasized enough. Sarkisian is known as one of the quarterback guys in college football and when hired, was expected to recruit some of the best in the country to Austin.

Nobody will be bigger for the next decade than Manning. His name alone will attract other top-rated prospects from across the country. Once he is potentially on campus, Manning’s skillset will win games for Texas for three to four years.

Get a win over the likes of Alabama, Clemson, Georgia, and Ole Miss, and Sarkisian will have the biggest recruiting victory of his life in just over a year as the Longhorns’ head coach.

On the 247Sports composite, Manning is the No. 1 prospect in the country. With that title comes the expectation of putting up gaudy numbers on a weekly basis in the high school ranks. So far, he has delivered.

Isidore Newman had a huge 70-0 win on Friday with Manning throwing for four touchdowns on 11-11 passing and rushing in another score. He has proven to be a complete quarterback five games into the season — one Texas has been missing for some time.

Now, Sarkisian has to put on the sales pitch of a lifetime. This weekend looms large for the future of the program.

Five-star quarterback Arch Manning to visit Texas during Oklahoma State weekend

Texas gains a big visitor for Oklahoma State weekend.

No recruit has a bigger target on their back than Arch Manning. Even if he was not a five-star and the top player in the country, the last name alone would be enough to carry the pressure.

Every big-name school and then some is going to be fighting for Manning’s signature on national signing day in 15 months. A generational quarterback, the five-star could change the trajectory of a program instantly.

Manning recently caught up with Steve Wiltfong of 247Sports, talking about each school still in the race. Texas is in the thick of it for the 2023 quarterback’s recruitment and it’s because of his relationship with Steve Sarkisian and quarterbacks coach A.J. Milwee.

Manning looks forward to returning to Texas for the Oklahoma State game on Oct. 16. He’s been talking to Steve Sarkisian and AJ Milwee as long as any other staff.

“They’re just good guys, laid back people, personable, it’s easy to talk to them,” Manning said. “Explosive offense.”

Manning added he enjoyed hanging with the Texas players on his last visit.

“Hudson Card, he’s a really good guy,” Manning said. “Really just catting with the players because they spoke highly of Sark. It was really cool to see how that program is going to be up and coming.”

As things stand, Manning is the only 2023 prospect scheduled to be in Austin for the Oklahoma State game. Things could change soon.

Last time he visited campus, some of the top prospects in the country flocked to meet the Texas staff. Five-stars Anthony Hill and Rueben Owens joined, as did four-star WR Johntay Cook.

Outside of Texas, mainly SEC programs are in contention. Clemson remains the outlier alongside the Longhorns.

Manning also discussed his visit schedule for the rest of the season. Dabo Sweeney played host last weekend after being the first summer trip for the quarterback. Here is the rest of the schedule with opponents in brackets.

  • Sept. 17 – Georgia (South Carolina)
  • Oct. 2 – Alabama (Ole Miss)
  • Oct. 16 – Texas (Oklahoma State)
  • Oct. 23 – Ole Miss (LSU)

*Of note, Eli Manning (his uncle) gets his jersey retired in Oxford the weekend Arch is visiting

On the 247Sports composite, Manning is the No. 1 player in the country. If they were to land the New Orleans native, it would be the second consecutive cycle where Texas has a commitment from a quarterback ranked atop the class.

Sarkisian will have to impress against Oklahoma State to have a serious shot at landing the five-star. Naming a full-time starting quarterback and excelling with whoever he picks may help his case too.

LOOK: First glimpse of five-star QB Arch Manning on Texas visit

The top quarterback prospect in the country for the 2023 recruiting class, Arch Manning, is currently in Austin.

Texas football is currently hosting one of the biggest recruiting weekends in history.

A plethora of blue-chip prospects from the 2022 and 2023 recruiting class are currently on the Forty Acres for either an unofficial or official visit. The group includes numerous five-star recruits from each class, headlined by the nation’s top quarterback prospect in the 2023 cycle, Arch Manning.

Manning visited Clemson last weekend and has visits scheduled with Alabama and Georgia to close out the month of June. The top overall prospect from Louisiana is expected to be in Austin for three days.

On Saturday morning, Inside Texas released the first glimpse of Manning on his visit in Austin. He is seen alongside Texas quarterbacks coach A.J. Milwee below.

Five-star running back Rueben Owens, the Longhorns’ only commit in the 2023 class at the moment, is also on campus with Manning this weekend and has reportedly been doing some recruiting on his own over the last few months to try and lure the five-star quarterback to Austin.

First-year head coach Steve Sarkisian and his staff are putting their best foot forward to try and make a great impression this weekend. Former Texas stars such as Vince Young, Jamaal Charles, Earl Campbell and Brian Orakpo are on campus to interact with the recruits, while Matthew McConaughey is involved as well.

Manning is a rare elite-level prospect who will be valued by all but available to few.
