Expectations for Alabama’s second scrimmage of the spring

What to expect from Alabama football’s second scrimmage of the spring!

Later this afternoon, [autotag]Nick Saban[/autotag] and the Alabama football team will head inside Bryant-Denny Stadium to take part in the Crimson Tide’s second scrimmage of the spring.

With the conclusion of today’s scrimmage, there will be just one week remaining of spring football in Tuscaloosa before a long summer break.

As always, the scrimmage is closed to the public, but there are always some nuggets that get dropped on various message boards, but we can also always learn a thing or two from coach Saban when he addresses the media afterward.

Let’s take a look at a few things that Tide fans should expect to learn from today’s scrimmage!

Everything Nick Saban said following Alabama’s 10th spring practice

Everything Alabama football head coach Nick Saban had to say following the Tide’s 10th spring practice!

On Wednesday, the Alabama football team completed its 10th practice of the spring on the Thomas-Drew Fields. The Crimson Tide is scheduled to practice again on Friday before holding its second scrimmage of the spring on Saturday afternoon from inside Bryant-Denny Stadium.

Following Wednesday’s practice, Crimson Tide head coach Nick Saban would make his way over to the Mal Moore Athletic Facility where he would speak to the media.

Coach Saban would provide an update on how some of his new additions to the coaching staff are working out, as well as a few player updates.

Here is everything coach Saban had to say!

Alabama RB Roydell Williams offers high praise for the Tide OL

Alabama’s offensive linemen are “dawgs” according to Crimson Tide running back Roydell Williams!

Believe it or not, [autotag]Nick Saban[/autotag] and the Alabama football team are more than halfway through the 2023 spring football activities and we are now less than two weeks away from the conclusion on April 22 when the annual A-Day game takes place.

On Monday, before the Crimson Tide took to the practice field, senior running back Roydell Williams would be given the opportunity to speak to the media and answer questions.

When asked about the offensive line, Williams was very complimentary of the big boys up front. “Those guys are dawgs, man, every last one of them,” Williams said of his blockers. “From the top to the bottom, oldest to the youngest, man, they’re doing great out there.”

The offensive line has been an area of concern over the past couple of seasons, but everything indicates that coach Eric Wolford and his players are making tremendous strides in creating a more physical group upfront for the Tide.

What we learned from Nick Saban’s post-scrimmage comments

What Nick Saban’s post-scrimmage comments taught us about the Alabama football team.

On Friday, [autotag]Nick Saban[/autotag] and the Alabama football completed their first spring scrimmage inside Bryant-Denny Stadium.

Unfortuenelty, this was a closed scrimmage with no reporters, cameras, or anything else to provide fans with any extra information about the 2023 Crimson Tide football team.

Following the scrimmage, coach Saban would take time to visit with media members to discuss his team’s performance and answer a handful of questions about how spring practice has been going.

Coach Saban generally doesn’t offer up much information to the public, but there are always some statements from which you can extract some details.

Here is what we learned from coach Saban’s post-scrimmage comments!

[autotag]Nick Saban[/autotag] and the Alabama football completed their first scrimmage of the spring on Friday afternoon before everyone takes a break for the holiday weekend.

As is the case in every closed scrimmage, there is not a lot of information released, at least nothing definitive. So basically we have to read between the lines of what coach Saban has to say.

Following Friday’s scrimmage, coach Saban would take about 10 minutes to talk with the media and discuss his team’s performance and development over the first couple of weeks of the spring.

Here is everything coach Saban had to say following scrimmage one of the spring.

Five defensive players who need to play well in Friday’s scrimmage

[autotag]Nick Saban[/autotag] and the Alabama football team will hold its first scrimmage of the spring on Friday afternoon before having the weekend off for Easter.

Coach Saban and the Tide generally don’t allow much information to be released from the closed scrimmages but there are always some little hints sprinkled throughout Coach Saban’s comments afterward.

With the scrimmage just a few hours away, Roll Tide Wire thought it would be a good idea to look at five players from each side of the ball that need to step up and perform well in the first game-like situation of the spring.

Tommy Rees brings a little more ‘swag’ according to Ja’Corey Brooks

According to Ja’Corey Brooks, Alabama’s new offensive coordinator Tommy Rees is bringing a little more ‘swag’ to the Crimson Tide offense.

In just a couple of weeks, Alabama football fans will be officially introduced to the Tommy Rees offense when the Crimson Tide take the field inside Bryant-Denny Stadium for the annual A-Day game.

Alabama head coach Nick Saban made somewhat of an outside-the-box hire when he brought in Rees from Notre Dame. Rees is extremely young and lacks a ton of experience calling plays at the collegiate level.

On Wednesday afternoon before the Tide held its seventh practice of the spring, junior wide receiver Ja’Corey Brooks spoke to the media and was asked about his early impressions of Rees.

“I wouldn’t say too much is new, but it’s a lot different. I’d say he is younger, got a little more swag in him. Everything is like, we can relate more.”

It shouldn’t come as a surprise that coach Rees has connected with the players so well. At 30 years old, Rees is just 10-12 years older than most of the players on the team.

It will be interesting to see what new wrinkles the young offensive guru will introduce into the Alabama offense and how well the players can execute his plan.

Alabama DL Justin Eboigbe reports that he is fully cleared from neck injury

Justin Eboigbe is officially back!

Injuries are all but avoidable in the game of football, but last season when Alabama defensive linemen Justin Eboigbe suffered what was possibly a career-ending neck injury, it truly puts into perspective what these young men are risking when they step between the lines.

On Monday, Eboigbe reported the best news possible. The fifth-year senior is now fully healed and completely cleared to return to all normal football activities.

Eboigbe’s return will provide Alabama with an experienced player to add along the defensive front and if he can return to his form before his injury, he will be a valuable member of the Crimson Tide defense.

In his career, Eboigbe has collected 59 tackles, four tackles for loss, and two sacks in 33 games played.
