According to 247Sports’ Matt Zenitz, the Washington Huskies are close to getting additional reinforcements in the secondary through the transfer portal in the form of Sacramento State safety Cameron Broussard. He would become the second member of the Hornets to choose Washington in the last week, following defensive lineman Deshawn Lynch.
Broussard would bring veteran experience to the secondary as a strong tackler who also excels in coverage. The 6-foot-3, 200-pound safety finished 2023 second on the team with 73 tackles, adding 2 interceptions and 7 pass breakups to his strong season that earned him All-Big Sky first-team recognition.
He finishes his Sacramento State career with 169 tackles, 4 interceptions, 15 passes defensed, and 2 forced fumbles and should step in and compete for a starting job right away. With two years of eligibility remaining, Broussard could push junior Makell Esteen for the spot next to senior Kamren Fabiculanan.
Broussard’s addition would also allow former Oklahoma safety Justin Harrington to move down into the nickel, where he excelled with the Sooners in 2023 before suffering a torn ACL.
The current expectation is that former Sacramento State first-team All-Big Sky safety Cameron Broussard is going to transfer to Washington, sources tell @247Sports.

This would be a big win for safeties coach Vinnie Sunseri, as Broussard also took an official visit to Michigan after entering the transfer portal on April 29.
