Who are Butler’s top schools?

Top-50 ATH Aaron Butler lists Oregon among top schools

4-star ATH Aaron Butler has put the Ducks among his top schools after decommitting from USC in January.

The Oregon Ducks are working hard to pick up a recruit who ended up turning down the USC Trojans.

4-star athlete Aaron Bulter, a top-50 rated player who decommitted from USC back in January, recently announced his top five schools, keeping Oregon in the mix alongside Georgia, Alabama, Colorado, and Washington.

Butler is rated as the No. 42 overall player in the 2024 class, and the No. 7 athlete. He is expected to play either at cornerback or wide receiver at the next level.

Butler has not yet taken a visit to Eugene, but he could do so in the coming months. He recently took visits to both Washington and Georiga.

The Bulldogs currently lead in predictions to land Butler, according to the 247Sports Crystal Ball.

Penn State makes top 13 for four-star athlete in 2024

Penn State makes latest top schools cut for four-star two-way player in Class of 2024

Penn State is officially in the running for an athletic four-star player in the Class of 2024. According to Hayes Fawcett of On3, California native Aaron Butler has updated his top schools list to 13, and Penn State is among the latest batch of candidates.

Butler was previously committed to USC but has recently reopened his recruitment. USC is still in the mix as well, and may still be considered the favorite. Penn State will have some work to do to make a big dent in this recruiting battle.

In addition to Penn State and USC, the other top schools reportedly in the hunt are Alabama, Colorado, Georgia, Michigan, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Oregon, Tennessee, Texas Tech, and Washington.

Butler has been profiled as an athlete because he is a versatile two-way player who has played cornerback and wide receiver. And at this point, it remains to be seen where his primary position may be at the next level. And, perhaps, his decision may come down to which position he will be given to play at each contending school in the recruiting process.

Judging by his social media feed, it does seem as though Butler would prefer to be considered a wide receiver over cornerback.

Penn State will be looking to add some playmakers at wide receiver in the Class of 2024. After losing [autotag]Parker Washington[/autotag] and [autotag]Mitchell Tinsley[/autotag] to the NFL draft, and seeing [autotag]Jaden Dottin[/autotag] enter the transfer portal, Penn State could use some more long-term options at the position. Penn State did add a couple of transfer wide receivers in [autotag]Dante Cephas[/autotag] from Kent State and [autotag]Malik McClain[/autotag] from Florida State.

According to 247Sports, Butler says he will be trimming his list to 10-12 schools. Among the ones he’s considering right now are Washington, Tennessee, Oregon, Georgia, Alabama, Colorado, LSU and Texas A&M.

Colorado may have an inside track over the others, considering the Butler family’s connection with their new head coach. Butler told 247Sports that his dad (who played with Prime in the NFL) knows Deion Sanders well:

“My dad knows Deion Sanders really well and played with him on the Baltimore Ravens. That was Deion’s last season playing in the league and after his last game, he gave my dad his cleats. My dad always talks about what a great teammate he was and how he was always dropping knowledge and not even about football but about life and spiritual lessons.”

Butler is a combo wide receiver and cornerback who totaled 830 yards and 13 touchdowns as a receiver plus four pass breakups and one interception as a corner as a Junior. He also scored two rushing touchdowns on his only two carries of the season, averaging 30 yards per attempt.

Going by the 247Sports composite rankings, Butler (6-foot-1, 170 pounds) is ranked No. 6 among athletes in his class and No. 65 overall.

4-star cornerback, potential LSU target decommits from USC

After nearly a year pledge to the Trojans, Aaron Butler has re-opened his recruitment. LSU is one of several schools now in the mix.

The Tigers could be one of several teams who plan to throw their hat in the ring for [autotag]Aaron Butler[/autotag].

The four-star cornerback from Calabasas, California, spent nearly a year committed to the USC Trojans after pledging last January, but he reopened his recruitment on Wednesday. Butler told On3 that USC had a successful season but he needed to take a step back and re-evaluate his future.

With Butler — who is rated as the No. 65 player in the country in 2024 on the 247Sports Composite and cracks the top 100 on the On3 Consensus Rankings — reopening his recruitment, he told On3 that the Tigers could be a team to watch.

“Schools like Alabama, Colorado, Georgia, Tennessee are up there,” he added. “These schools are doing a great job with me and making me feel like a priority. LSU is another one, and Oregon has picked it up, too. They are on me hard. Notre Dame, Michigan State and Texas A&M are three more showing me a lot of interest. … When I committed to USC early on, I didn’t have the knowledge about everything that I have now. I am looking at this decision differently.”

LSU’s staff offered Butler back in March while he was still committed to the Trojans. The Tigers hope to get one of his official visits this summer. Butler told On3 he plans to wrap up his visit schedule in June and announce a commitment on his birthday, July 22.

The 2024 recruiting cycle is off to a good start for LSU, whose class currently ranks No. 2 nationally with eight commits already. The Tigers already have two four-star cornerbacks committed in [autotag]Zion Ferguson[/autotag] and [autotag]Wallace Foster[/autotag].
