One of the top safeties in the 2022 class, Kamari Wilson, announced his top schools list. UT and schools from across the south made the cut.

One of the top safeties in the 2022 class, Kamari Wilson, has announced his much anticipated top schools list. After flirting with Texas on social media for months, the Longhorns have made the cut.

Rated a five-star on the 247Sports composite, Wilson is the No. 1 safety in the country. Top programs throughout the south such as Florida, Florida State, Georgia, and LSU also made the cut.

For Texas, two defensive backs are already in the 2022 cycle. Four-star cornerback Jaylon Guilbeau was the first to lock it down under Tom Herman, while four-star safety Bryan Allen was the Longhorns’ most recent commit. However, if Wilson wants a spot in the class, he will have one.

Four-star wide receiver Shazz Preston announces top seven schools

Wide receiver Shazz Preston is a 2022 prospect Andre Coleman has been working on. The four-star announced his top seven schools on Friday.

Outside of quarterback, wide receiver has been the most talked-about position concerning Texas’ 2022 recruiting cycle. Armani Winfield is already locked up, while Evan Stewart recently decommited. In-state prospects such as Stewart, Chris Marshall, and Jordan Hudson remain a priority, but Andre Coleman has been making progress out of the state.

Four-star Shazz Preston is one of the players Coleman has been working on. Preston announced his top seven schools on Friday. A majority come from the SEC, with hometown LSU leading the way.

Alabama, Georgia, and Mississippi State round out the schools from the SEC in Preston’s top seven. His most recent offer, USC, also made the cut with Miami and Texas being the final two programs.

Preston has been compared to Oklahoma State’s Tylan Wallace, an in-state prospect Texas missed out on, by 247Sports. The two share a 6-0, 190-pound frame and are both elite in the air. Steve Sarkisian and Coleman will want to land this Louisiana native.

Texas Football Recruiting: Four-star OLB from Alabama receives offer

Four-star T.J. Dudley was extended an offer by Texas on Monday. Playing at OLB, he would fit perfectly with Pete Kwiatkowski’s scheme.

When Texas poached Steve Sarkisian from Alabama, its recruiting board was expanded to the national level. The Longhorns have dipped into California and even into SEC territory. On Monday, another prospect from the state of Alabama was offered.

Four-star outside linebacker T.J. Dudley announced that he has received an offer from Texas. The Montgomery native could fit in as a Jack or X in Pete Kwiatkowski’s defensive scheme.

Going up against Nick Saban is no easy task, especially for a non-SEC program. Dudley’s top schools at the moment consist of Alabama, Auburn, Clemson, Florida State, LSU and Oregon.

Four-star linebacker Kip Lewis takes self-guided tour at Texas

Kip Lewis took a self-guided tour on Saturday. Since the NCAA has not allowed official visits, recruits must visit campuses on their own.

One of the fastest rising linebackers in the state of Texas is four-star prospect Kip Lewis. Programs such as LSU, Notre Dame, Oklahoma, Texas A&M, and USC have offered the Carthage prospect since the New Year. He’s listed as an outside linebacker on 247Sports and could also project as an inside linebacker.

After Lewis’s 2020 season, it’s easy to see why the top schools in the country want him. He finished with 140 tackles, 17 tackles for a loss, four sacks, two fumble recoveries, one pass breakup, a forced fumble, and an interception. Wherever the ball was, Lewis showed up shortly after.

Lewis took a self-guided tour in Austin on Saturday. Since the NCAA is still not allowing official visits, players must choose to visit campuses on their own. According to Justin Wells of Inside Texas, he will head to College Station next.

Lewis recently tweeted out how his recruitment was open and he was considering all options. You can see his full statement below:

Blessed to receive my first colliegete offer after the State game (Dec. 2020) my life has been a lot a series of conversations every since. I’m deeply grateful for it all. It’s a great feeling to be able to have the opportunity to attend college and play one of my greatest loves (football). Currently, I do not have a top 5 or a top 10 at this time. We are open to consider all options. Due to covid I haven’t been able to visit any college campus in person. @MakhaiLewis4 We would like the opportunity to see the campus and meet the staff in person before narrowing our options. Thank you, Kip Lewis

On the 247Sports composite, Lewis is the No. 46 player in the state of Texas. Nationally, he ranks as No. 340 in the country and the No. 25 outside linebacker. With another monster season, he will certainly once again rise in the rankings.

LOOK: Maalik Murphy makes his debut as starting quarterback

The long-awaited debut for Murphy to be a starting quarterback is over. Gardena Serra opened its spring season on Friday night.

When Maalik Murphy committed to Texas, the one major question surrounding him was how we would perform in game competition. The current junior had never been the official starting quarterback and had earned his five-star rating from 7v7 and camps.

The long-awaited debut for Murphy to be a starting quarterback is over. Gardena Serra opened its spring season on Friday night after COVID-19 canceled football in the fall.

His final stat line read as such: 19-32 with two touchdowns and two interceptions on the night. On paper, not the greatest performance. However, there are full highlights below and you can judge for yourself.

Murphy’s development over the next year is going to be the biggest story surrounding Texas recruiting. He is seen as a project that will take at least a couple of years to develop. If anyone can do it, Steve Sarkisian is the guy.

Texas Football Recruiting: Evaluating remaining 2022 wide receiver targets

Wide receiver recruiting is exciting to think about for Texas fans right now. Here are the remaining targets at the position.

Wide receiver recruiting is exciting to think about for Texas fans right now. Even from the outside perspective, it is easy to understand why.

Over the past two NFL drafts, Steve Sarkisian is expected to have been the offensive coordinator for four first-round draft picks plus the Heisman Trophy winner in DeVonta Smith. High school recruits will naturally follow that kind of reputation.

Four-star prospects Evan Stewart and Armani Winfield have already cemented their place in Texas’ 2022 recruiting class. The latter gave his commitment in the middle of Alabama‘s national championship performance, while Stewart’s pledge still stands as the biggest win in Sarkisian’s early days as a recruiter in Austin.

Texas is expected to take at least two more wide receivers before the 2022 class is all said and done. Even a fifth could be added if the fit is right. Sarkisian and Andre Coleman want to revitalize the position room, making it one of the best in the country. Hopefully, Casey Thompson/Hudson Card/Maalik Murphy will be thanking them for years to come.

Here is an in-depth look at the remaining targets at wide receiver for the 2022 class.
