The Top 10 remaining unsigned 2021 recruits after the Early Signing Period

USA Today takes a look at the top 10 remaining unsigned 2021 recruits at the conclusion of the Early Signing Period.

The Early Signing Period has come and gone, but there are still plenty of 2021 recruits available for the taking.

2021 recruits have until February to sign their National Letter of Intent, meaning there will be plenty of fireworks on the recruiting trail over the next month and a half with some of the top prospects in the country still unsigned — including 247Sports’ No. 1 recruit Korey Foreman and No. 3 recruit J.T. Tuimoloau. Foreman has been rumored to have already put pen to paper, but will not announce his destination until Jan. 2. Tuimolau, meanwhile, will ride things out until February.

Let’s take a look at the top 10 remaining unsigned recruits with the Early Signing Period officially in the books.

Alabama flips four-star LSU commit

The Alabama Crimson Tide entered Wednesday’s early signing period with the No. 1 overall recruiting class in the country, according to 247Sports.

Things got even better for Alabama on Wednesday morning when four-star defensive end Keanu Koht flipped his commitment from SEC rival LSU to the Crimson Tide.

A 6-foot-4, 215-pound defensive end from Vero Beach, Florida, Koht had been committed to the Tigers since July 4.

After LSU’s blowout loss to the Crimson Tide earlier this month, LSU coach Ed Orgeron said it would actually help the Tigers on the recruiting trail.

“I think it helps recruiting,” Orgeron said, per 247Sports. “Recruiting has been fine. Our guys stuck with us, and commitments stuck with us.”

Considering the timing of Koht’s flip, those comments didn’t age well for Orgeron.

After the commitment of Koht, Alabama’s hold on No. 1 should only strengthen, although Ohio State is right behind the Crimson Tide.

This week, the Crimson Tide faces Florida in the SEC championship game and appear poised to appear in the College Football Playoff next month.

While Alabama is presently preparing for a run at another national championship, the Tide also currently has the No. 1 recruiting class in all college football.

Head coach Nick Saban focused heavily on the trenches, wide receiver, and cornerback for this class. The Crimson Tide signed a dominant group of offensive linemen, including two five-star offensive tackles.

With Jaylen Waddle and DeVonta Smith also expected to be first-round picks, Saban signed four wide receivers who can immediately help the Crimson Tide in 2021.

National signing day is less than 24 hours away as Texas’ 2021 recruiting class starts to take shape. As things stand, the Longhorns have 18 commits, headlined by five-star athlete Ja’Tavion Sanders.

Nationally, the class is No. 17 and is behind Oklahoma within the conference at No. 2. This will be the first Tom Herman class to not finish atop the Big 12 since 2017.

Despite signing day, most commits are in the thick of a deep playoff run. Players such as Jonathon Brooks will be participating in their state championship game, while 5A and 6A players within the state of Texas just wrapped up their opening rounds.

Here is how Texas’ 2021 prospects performed in their latest matchups:

When you are making noise on the football field and boosting your stars and ranking, its certain to draw a lot more attention. That’s what Spartan commit Audric Estime has done. Today, Estime announced that he received an offer from Notre Dame via his Twitter.

Estime’s ranking on 247sports, went from No. 345 nationally on November 30 to No. 245 nationally on December 14. His ranking went up by .0172, which now puts him at .9095. That will happen after you win football player of the year in your state.

Texas Football Recruiting: How 2021 prospects performed in Week 14

The early signing period is just two weeks away. UT’s 2021 class has continued to slowly grow. Here is how the prospects played in Week 12.

The early signing period for the 2021 recruiting class is just two weeks away. As things stand, Texas has the No. 17 overall recruiting class and the No. 2 class in the Big 12. It has been a stressful and frustrating cycle.

With the end of the Tom Herman era upon us, it may be getting even worse. If the head coach is fired before recruits have the ability to sign on Dec. 16, they may be looking at other places.

Plenty of 2021 commits has already decided to take their talents elsewhere, even with Herman still in charge. These next two weeks will determine a lot about the future of Texas football.

For the players still in the class, here are how they are wrapping up their final high school seasons:

Michigan State continues to be relentless on the recruiting trail. 2021 4-star linebacker Bryce Steele has announced his top 4 schools and his commitment date in an interview with 247sports. Steele will announce his decision Dec. 1 at 5 p.m.

Steele, who is 6-foot-1 and 207 pounds, was originally committed to South Carolina, but pulled back his commitment after Will Muschamp was fired as head coach. His final four school are Michigan State, Boston College, Texas, and N.C. State.

Steele is the No. 18 inside linebacker and No. 21 player from the state of North Carolina for the class of 2021. He currently attends Millbrook High School in his hometown of Raleigh, North Carolina. He transferred there in the summer so he could graduate in December and enroll in college in January.

He did a virtual visit with Michigan State over the weekend leading up to his commitment.

Notre Dame football adds yet another ‘21 commitment

It had been five days since anyone gave Notre Dame their commitment so local talent Jojo Johnson changed that on Tuesday.

It had been a while since Notre Dame last received a commitment to their 2021 recruiting class seeing as it’s been a whole five days.

That might not seem very long but considering the heater Notre Dame has been on in recruiting, it feels like a long time.

The Irish received four commitments last week as their class ranking jumped into the top 10 nationally according to most outlets.

Tuesday saw them add yet another commitment, this one coming from a young man they only offered an official scholarship to days ago.

JoJo Johnson was offered by Notre Dame on Sunday and on Tuesday, the Merrillville, Indiana senior made his decision to play for Brian Kelly and the Fighting Irish official.

Johnson becomes the 22nd commitment to Notre Dame’s class and will start his career in South Bend in the defensive backfield.

Johnson is rated as a three-star prospect by both 247Sports and Rivals and chose Notre Dame over offers from 17 other programs including Cincinnati, Purdue, Iowa, Michigan State and several MAC schools.

Johnson originally committed to Cincinnati on May 1 but reopened his recruitment by de-committing in mid-October.

Johnson is listed at 5-11, 180 pounds and becomes the fifth defensive back to join the 2021 recruiting class.

Texas Football Recruiting: Five 2021 prospects the Longhorns need to push for next

Despite the recent success, the 2021 class has still not been good enough from Herman. Here are five recruits Texas should push for next:

To some surprise, recruiting in the 2021 class has been good for Tom Herman and the Texas Longhorns. Beginning with Terrence Cooks, Texas was able to secure his commitment over schools such as Baylor, LSU, and Georgia. A four-star outside linebacker, Cooks and Morice Blackwell will lock down the position for Chris Ash in the near future.

More recently, the Longhorns were able to flip defensive tackle Byron Murphy II out of DeSoto, Texas. Originally committed to Baylor, after Texas offered the four-star prospect, the recruitment suddenly changed. Much needed help across the defensive line is on its way with Murphy.

Despite the recent success, the 2021 class has still not been good enough from Herman. Losing out on major players such as the Brockermeyer brothers and seeing Jalen Milroe flip to Alabama, Texas has lost its top prospects throughout the entire cycle.

As Joel Klatt of FOX Sports mentioned, the Longhorns have “lost that luster in the state.” Other schools such as Alabama, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Texas A&M have stolen recruits from Texas.

That “certainly wasn’t the case when Mack [Brown] was winning a lot of games” said Klatt.

Herman still has the opportunity to flip all of that around with a couple of top in-state prospects still available. The Aggies and the Sooners are in these races as well, making them even more important for the coaching staff to win.

Here are the five 2021 recruits Texas should push for next:
