The Alabama Crimson Tide entered Wednesday’s early signing period with the No. 1 overall recruiting class in the country, according to 247Sports.

Things got even better for Alabama on Wednesday morning when four-star defensive end Keanu Koht flipped his commitment from SEC rival LSU to the Crimson Tide.

A 6-foot-4, 215-pound defensive end from Vero Beach, Florida, Koht had been committed to the Tigers since July 4.

After LSU’s blowout loss to the Crimson Tide earlier this month, LSU coach Ed Orgeron said it would actually help the Tigers on the recruiting trail.

“I think it helps recruiting,” Orgeron said, per 247Sports. “Recruiting has been fine. Our guys stuck with us, and commitments stuck with us.”

Considering the timing of Koht’s flip, those comments didn’t age well for Orgeron.

After the commitment of Koht, Alabama’s hold on No. 1 should only strengthen, although Ohio State is right behind the Crimson Tide.
