Christa Williams, Softball
Christa Williams started out at UCLA before transferring to her home state to play softball for the Longhorns. Her first season was during the inaugural season in 1997. One year after she won her first gold medal during the Olympic Games in Atlanta, Georgia. Williams led the Longhorns to the College World Series in only their second year. Williams finished her collegiate career as a two-time All-American.
Accomplishments:
- Led UT to 1998 Women’s College World Series
- Two-time All-American and All-Big 12 honoree
- 1998 NCAA Regional MVP
- Member of USA National Team (1996-2000)
- Earned Olympic gold medals in 1996 and 2000
- Compiled 51-15 record, 0.71 ERA, 27 shutouts and 678 strikeouts
- Played professional softball before becoming coach and teacher
- Hall of Honor inductee in 2007
