Ravens release first injury report for Week 9 matchup vs. Vikings

The Ravens released their first injury report on Wednesday ahead of a Week 9 matchup with the Vikings

The Baltimore Ravens will take on the Minnesota Vikings in Week 9 of the 2021 season. The Ravens have dealt with a plethora of injuries since before the year began, but they’ve shown the ability to play tough football and hold a 5-2 overall record despite the injury woes.

On Wednesday, Baltimore released their first injury report ahead of their matchup with the Vikings, with some key players being listed on the list.

All the players listed to begin the week did not participate in practice.

Running back Latavius Murray (ankle) and wide receiver Sammy Watkins (thigh) both missed the team’s Week 7 matchup against the Cincinnati Bengals. Meanwhile, offensive lineman Patrick Mekari (ankle) and defensive tackle Brandon Williams (shoulder) also were held out of practice.

Jeff Zrebiec of The Athletic reported that defensive tackle Derek Wolfe also didn’t practice, but since he hasn’t been activated from injured reserve he isn’t listed on the official injury report.

Closing out the injury report is quarterback Tyler Huntley who is fighting off an illness and outside linebacker Justin Houston who was given a day of rest.

Washington DE Montez Sweat suffers jaw fracture, will miss at least four weeks

Washington defensive end Montez Sweat will miss around a month.

The Washington Football Team lost their fourth consecutive game on Sunday to fall to 2-6 on the season. However, their most significant losses were on the injury list.

Center Chase Roullier injured his leg in the game and was carted off the field. On Tuesday, Washington placed Roullier on injured reserve, and he was lost for the season. Washington also lost left guard Ereck Flowers late in the game, but his injury appears less severe.

On Wednesday, Grant Paulsen of 106.7 The Fan in Washington, D.C., reported starting defensive end Montez Sweat fractured his jaw in the loss to the Broncos and would be out around a month.

Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network reported Sweat suffered a non-displaced jaw fracture, but it does not require surgery. In addition, Sweat would need to alter his diet and could have no physical contact for a month.

Sweat has started all eight games for Washington in 2021, is second on the team with four sacks, and has also forced two fumbles.

Second-year defensive end James Smith-Williams figures to be the biggest beneficiary in Sweat’s absence.

Tennessee Titans vs. Los Angeles Rams Week 9 injury report: Wednesday

A look at the Titans’ first injury report of the week.

The Tennessee Titans have released their first injury report of the week ahead of the Week 9 contest at SoFi Stadium on “Sunday Night Football” against the Los Angeles Rams.

The Titans only held a walk-through, but on top of seeing the practice debut of running back Adrian Peterson, the Titans welcomed back wide receiver Julio Jones, who sat out the Week 8 contest with a hamstring injury.

This is a great sign for Jones’ availability against the Rams. He’ll be needed now more than ever after running back Derrick Henry was lost for a significant amount of time due to injury.

Also returning to practice was defensive lineman Teair Tart and backup tackle Kendall Lamm.

Defensive lineman Jeffery Simmons, cornerbacks Greg Mabin and Chris Jackson, fullback Khari Blasingame, linebacker Rashaan Evans and right guard Nate Davis did not practice.

Now, a look at the injury report for both teams on the Wednesday before their Sunday night matchup in Los Angeles.
