Philadelphia Eagles gave undrafted TE Noah Togiai big guaranteed money to sign

Philadelphia Eagles gave undrafted TE Noah Togiai big guaranteed money to sign

The Philadelphia Eagles love tight ends just as much as they enjoy developing quarterbacks and Howie Roseman may have found his franchise a third tight end.

After the conclusion of the NFL Draft and the start of the undrafted free agent period, the Bird’s first signee was Noah Togiai, a tight end out of Oregon State.

The Eagles coveted the athletic Togiai so much, that they gave him one of the biggest guaranteed deals for non-draftees.

The 6-foot-4, 246-pound Togiai started in 37 of 44 games played while at Oregon State, and accumulated 1,000 yards receiving in his career.

A developmental tight end, Togiai is a former basketball player who as a senior in Corvallis, talled 44 catches for 406 yards and three touchdowns for the Beavers.

Eagles may have found perfect complement to Miles Sanders in UDFA RB Adrian Killins

Eagles undrafted free agent back Adrian Killins could be the perfect running mate for Miles Sanders

The Philadelphia Eagles ignored addressing the running back position during free agency and the entirety of the NFL draft, but Howie Roseman may have had a method to his madness.

After bypassing running backs, Roseman signed two undrafted free agents at the position. One player, Michael Warren, is a thumper who’ll definitely have an opportunity to put his stamp on the roster.

The guy that could turn his post-draft signing into a bonafide roster spot is Adrian Killins.

The 5-foot-7, 162-pound running back is fast and productive while specializing in finding the endzone. He’ll go down in UCF history after finishing his career with 2,459 rushing yards and 25 rushing touchdowns career. His 6.1 yards per carry average ranks third in school history.

Killins wasn’t invited to the NFL Combine, but if he had, he would have clocked one of the fastest times.

In 2019 with UCF, Killins rushed 87 times for 629 yards and seven touchdowns, while adding eight catches for 120 yards and another score.

Killins and Warren should both make the Eagles 53-man roster while ensuring that Miles Sanders doesn’t get ran into the ground next season.

NFL Draft 2020: List of every WR drafted by the Eagles under GM Howie Roseman

List of every Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver drafted under Howie Roseman

The Philadelphia Eagles are just hours from being on the NFL draft clock and Howie Roseman will have a huge decision to make on the personnel front.

Roseman will indeed target wide receivers with his eight picks, but the questions and concerns center around who and when.

Roseman is known for being an active participant on draft night and his perfection with the salary cap is second to none. It’s Roseman’s player analysis and penchant for missing on players that have some Eagles fans nervous.

The Eagles have drafted eight wide receivers since Roseman became the Eagles general manager in 2010. Only Riley Cooper and Nelson Agholor can be deemed anything close to being successful.

With the Eagles not guaranteed a shot at the big four of Jeudy, Lamb, Ruggs, and Jefferson, it’ll be even more pertinent for Roseman to make the correct decision on wide receivers in the draft.

With Roseman set to be on the clock, here’s a list of the previous wide receivers drafted under Howie as GM.

2010.

Riley Cooper, Florida, Round-5, Pick 159 overall

Most known for his comments at a Kenny Chesney concert, the former Florida Gators star was the first wideout drafted under Roseman.

Cooper spent six seasons with the Eagles, catching 169 balls in 88 total games, for 2,418 yards, and 18 career touchdowns.

His best season came in 2013 when Cooper caught 47 balls for 837 yards and 8 touchdowns.

Philadelphia Eagles to begin virtual offseason workouts on April 27

The Philadelphia Eagles are just days from the start of the NFL draft and should have already been engulfed in the start of offseason workouts and OTAs.

With the COVID-19 crisis shutting down operations on the field, the NFL has allowed teams to start their offseason workout programs online.

About 12 teams are set to begin the program this week and according to Jeff McLane, the Eagles will begin nine weeks of virtual workouts on Monday, April 27.

NFL, NFLPA agree to begin virtual voluntary offseason workout program starting on 4/20

In a move that’s likely to make some fans chuckle, the NFL and NFLPA just announced that they’ve reached agreement on a voluntary offseason program for 2020, starting next Monday, April 20, per Tom Pelissero.

The “virtual period” can begin next Monday, April 20, but no on-field work can begin for the players until all 32 club facilities can reopen.

April 20 was annually celebrated as the start of random drug testing for players on the day that the country celebrates national marijuana day.

With the NFL no longer suspending players for positive weed test, it should be a relaxed day for players around the league.

At running back, Miles Sanders is now the goto guy, with Jordan Howard moving on to the Miami Dolphins. Boston Scott will assume the role of change of pace and third-down back until the Eagles add another running back.

NFL postpones off-season training activities “indefinitely” in memo sent to teams

NFL postpones off-season training activities indefinitely

Business is booming in the NFL as free agency and the legal tampering period for the new league year is upon.

Even with the excitement of player transactions and guys switching teams, there are still precautions and steps that need to be taken by NFL teams and personnel amid the coronavirus (COVID-19).

Adam Schefter is reporting that the league has implemented policies that include free-agent signees visiting a team’s facility or vice versa for the time being.

Players are currently banned from entering any NFL team facilities between March 17 through March 31.

3 takeaways from the Eagles hiring Marty Mornhinweg as an offensive consultant to Doug Pederson

3 takeaways from the Eagles hiring Marty Mornhinweg as an offensive consultant to Doug Pederson

The Philadelphia Eagles love doing things by a committee approach and that’ll definitely be the status quo when it comes to coaching up Carson Wentz.

On Thursday, the Eagles announced another offensive mind has been added to the coaching staff, naming former offensive coordinator, Marty Mornhinweg as a consultant to head coach Doug Pederson.

Mornhinweg brings decades of experience as a play-caller and offensive innovator and will add another dimension to the coaching-bubble being placed around Carson Wentz.

With a co-offensive coordinator approach in place, here are four takeaways to Mornhinweg’s hire:

1. The offensive-minded cocoon around Wentz will work wonders

The Eagles don’t have an official offensive coordinator, but they now have a room full of solid and innovative minds that should help take Carson Wentz’s game to the next level.

The Eagles also hired former Broncos offensive coordinator Rich Scangarello and added pass game coordinator to quarterbacks coach Press Taylor’s title, making this offseason about taking Carson Wentz to the next level as a passer.

6 takeaways from the WR Workouts at the 2020 NFL Combine

6 takeaways from the WR Workouts at the 2020 NFL Combine

The NFL Combine offered the Philadelphia Eagles and head coach Doug Pederson and up-close view of some dazzling wide receivers putting their skills on display.

Alabama’s Henry Ruggs made himself millions, clocking a 4.27 40-yard dash at Lucas Oil Stadium. Ruggs didn’t break John Ross’s record of 4.22, but he definitely ensured he won’t be available for the Eagles at pick No. 21.

With several guys helping and hurting themselves, here are five takeaways from the wide receiver portion of the NFL Combine.

***

1. Eagles will need to trade up to land Jerry Jeudy, CeeDee Lamb or Henry Ruggs III.

Ruggs III blazed a blistering 4.28 40-yard dash on his first attempt at Lucas Oil Field, further cementing his status as a legit top-10 talent.

Ruggs time was officially changed to 4.27.

Jeudy is a polished route-runner and pass-catcher with a game that’s ideally suited for the No. 1 receiver spot in the NFL.

Lamb is an athletic playmaker with outstanding ball skills who is set to become a monster in the NFL.   Lamb combines his exceptional pass-catching skills with big-play skills and the ability to turn a short play into a score.
