Texas football: What can we expect from a Mike Yurcich offense?

With the new offensive coordinator in Mike Yurcich now in control, what could the Texas Longhorns offense look like?

Some might say that asking Sam Ehlinger to run less might actually benefit the passing game. However, when looking through the history of Yurcich since 2013 he has always had a quarterback who made some impact in the running game. It would be difficult to ask a player with 1,526 yards rushing and 25 touchdowns to all of a sudden not run.

Even in the best year under Yurcich, he had Mason Rudolph who would be remembered as more of a pocket passer than a dual threat. He accounted for 10 rushing touchdowns. The threat of the run will help the offense. Each season Rudolph’s stats grew but Ehlinger only has one more season. Could Yurcich help Ehlinger?

The experience that he has should allow Yurcich to help Ehlinger. While Sam has grown with each season, his biggest growth should come in his senior campaign. As the quarterback of the offense it is vital that he get them up to speed.
