After finishing their road trip with a 61-48 win against the Nebraska Cornhuskers, the No. 21 Wisconsin Badgers will face off against the No. 3 Michigan Wolverines at the Kohl Center on Sunday afternoon. An upset of the Wolverines could set the Badgers up well for their next matchup against No. 15 Iowa on Thursday night.

The Badgers were able to regain their confidence from a dominant second half against the Cornhuskers, along with another excellent performance from true freshman Jonathan Davis off of the bench. He finished with 10 points, three rebounds, two steals, an assist and a block. His contribution off the bench will be crucial for Wisconsin to beat Michigan that has proven to be one the best teams in the country.

Although the Badgers were able to lock down in the second half against Nebraska, they will need to improve their abysmal 32.3% shooting from the field to prevent a similar result to their first matchup where Michigan dominated Wisconsin 77-54. This game is an exciting opportunity for the Badgers to flip the script in the Big Ten ahead of their final stretch of the regular season.

After a bounce-back performance against the Penn State Nittany Lions on Tuesday night at the Kohl Center, the No. 19 Wisconsin Badgers will head on the road to play the No. 12 Illinois Fighting Illini on Saturday afternoon.

The dominant second half, which spurred the bounce-back victory against Penn State, started from a career-high 17 points off the bench from Badgers freshman guard Jonathan Davis. He provided a much-needed outlet from deep that Wisconsin has struggled to find in the last few games with the regression of D’Mitrik Trice and Brad Davison’s play from earlier in the season.

Although it is nice to Davis excelling in his freshman year, Wisconsin will need to see more from their senior leadership including Trice, who scored zero points against the Nittany Lions. This will be vital to give Wisconsin a chance against the red-hot Fighting Illini, who have beaten No. 8 Iowa and Indiana in the last week.

Though it has been a turbulent few weeks for the Badgers, a win against No. 12 Illinois would set Wisconsin up well for the final stretch of the regular season.

After getting upset in the first game of their back-to-back series, the No. 19 Wisconsin Badgers will look for redemption against the Penn State Nittany Lions at the Kohl Center on Tuesday night.

Three of the Wisconsin starting five shot an abysmal combined 29.6% from the field in their last game against the Nittany Lions, and two of those three were Wisconsin’s leading scorers this season in Micah Potter and D’Mitrik Trice. Head coach Greg Gard will need to see improvements from them for the Badgers to have a chance against Penn State, who continues to get better every game.

Penn State has continued to build momentum after their close loss to No. 7 Ohio State and convincing victory against Wisconsin last week, and the Badgers will need to play drastically better at the Kohl Center to avoid getting swept by the Nittany Lions in the season series.

On Saturday afternoon, the No. 14 Wisconsin Badgers will face off against the Penn State Nittany Lions in University Park, Pa. in the first game of their back-to-back series. This game was rescheduled from Jan. 3 because of an outbreak of COVID-19 on the Nittany Lions.

After his best game of the season where he scored 23 points and had 12 rebounds, the Badgers will look towards forward Micah Potter to ignite the Wisconsin offense against an underrated and undersized Penn State team. Potter’s height will give him an advantage on the interior against the Nittany Lions, whose tallest player is only 6-foot-9.

Although the Nittany Lions have not had the best results since their return from play going 2-3, they have played a lot of close games including nearly upsetting No. 13 Ohio State on Wednesday. Penn State could be an unexpectedly difficult opponent for the Badgers, given their steady improvement since returning from a COVID-19 shutdown of team activities.

The Wisconsin Badgers will be playing a greatly improved Penn State Nittany Lions and will need to exploit their size advantage to put away a possible trap game. It should be another exceptional Big Ten matchup to watch.

After an underwhelming performance that ended in a loss against the No. 13 Ohio State Buckeyes, the No. 14 Wisconsin Badgers will look to recover in an away rematch against the Maryland Terrapins on Wednesday night.

In an otherwise poor overall game against the Buckeyes, Wisconsin forward Aleem Ford’s hot stretch from the 3-point line helped the Badgers to stay in the game. He finished with 13 points, seven rebounds, two steals, an assist and a block.

Ford’s consistent shooting will be needed against Maryland, who was able to score outscore the Badgers by 10 points in the second half of their previous matchup. The Terrapins went on to win the game 70-64. Although Maryland has not been at the top of the Big Ten this season, they have been a trap game for highly-ranked teams across the conference with wins against No. 19 Illinois, No. 21 Minnesota, and of course No. 14 Wisconsin.

Even though the Terrapins got the better of the Badgers in their first matchup early in the season, Wisconsin will be looking to respond in a big way after their loss to the Buckeyes. This game should be yet another great Big Ten matchup to watch this season.

In a highly anticipated AP Top-25 matchup, the No. 10 Wisconsin Badgers will face the No. 15 Ohio State Buckeyes at the Kohl Center on Saturday night. A win against the Buckeyes could move the Badgers above the Iowa Hawkeyes into second place in the Big Ten.

After a standout game in his fifth career start, Wisconsin forward Tyler Wahl will look to keep the momentum going against a talented Ohio State team. Although Wahl hasn’t had the most eye-popping numbers this season, his work on defense and clutch baskets have been crucial to the Badgers down the stretch.

Wahl will likely matchup against Ohio State forward E.J. Liddell, who leads the Buckeyes in rebounds, steals and blocks. Liddell is also second in scoring with 14.1 points per game.

After Iowa’s upset loss to the Indiana Hoosiers on Thursday night, an opportunity has opened for the Badgers to take sole possession of second place in the Big Ten with a win against the Buckeyes.

After a close road win against the Rutgers Scarlet Knights, the No. 10 Wisconsin Badgers will matchup against the Northwestern Wildcats at the Kohl Center on Wednesday night. A win will be vital in preparing the Badgers for another ranked Big Ten matchup against No. 15 Ohio State on Saturday.

Wisconsin will look towards senior guard D’Mitrik Trice to be the playmaker in this game, especially after his outstanding performances in conference play this season. Trice leads the Badgers in scoring and assists with 15 points per game and 3.6 assists per game. Although Trice wasn’t the leading scorer against Rutgers, his clutch playmaking helped Wisconsin to pull away at the end of the game. He will be needed against a Northwestern team that is built around its talented big men.

Like Wisconsin’s previous opponent, the Wildcats have struggled recently losing all five of their last games. It should be noted all of these losses were against ranked teams, and Northwestern has beaten No. 15 Ohio State and Michigan State this season. This game should be an exciting one to watch, as the Badgers look to continue building momentum with a victory against Northwestern.

On Friday night, the No. 9 Wisconsin Badgers will face off against the Rutgers Scarlet Knights in the last game of their short road trip. A victory against the Scarlet Knights will be crucial for the Badgers to stay near the top of an extremely competitive Big Ten, especially after Wisconsin’s blowout loss to the No. 7 Michigan Wolverines earlier this week.

Related: Wisconsin basketball vs. Rutgers: Through the years image gallery

Wisconsin needs to see improvements from senior starters Nate Reuvers, Brad Davison and Aleem Ford, who combined for only 12 points and an abysmal 20 percent from the field against Michigan. Although they were not the only ones who had an off night, there need to be more than 12 points coming from three of Wisconsin’s starters.

In Big Ten play this season Rutgers has struggled, losing four of its last five games to Big Ten opponents. Despite losing to No. 5 Iowa, No. 21 Ohio State twice and Michigan State, the Scarlet Knights are still 7-4 overall with big wins against No. 14 Illinois, Purdue and Maryland. Wins do not come easy in the Big Ten this season, especially on the road, and the Badgers will need to play well as a team to come away with this crucial Big Ten victory.

How to watch Wisconsin basketball vs. No. 7 Michigan

In a highly anticipated AP Top-10 matchup, the No. 9 Wisconsin Badgers will face the No. 7 Michigan Wolverines in Ann Arbor, Mich. on Tuesday night. The Badgers will need a phenomenal effort to come away with the victory, as the Wolverines(10-0) are undefeated this season with important wins against Northwestern and No. 23 Minnesota.

Related: What the analytics say about Wisconsin basketball through the first half of the season

Wisconsin guard D’Mitrik Trice has developed into an elite player in the Badgers offense this year and has often kept them in games when they have struggled offensively. He is averaging an outstanding 14.8 points, 3.7 assists, 3.3 rebounds and one steal a game for the Badgers this season. A strength of the Wolverines this season has come from their size in players like Hunter Dickinson and Franz Wagner, so there may be a big mismatch for Trice to exploit in this game.

Michigan will be a very tough opponent for Wisconsin but will be a good way to measure how the Badgers stack up against the best teams in the country. Another thing to consider is that although the Wolverines are undefeated to start the season, they have not played the same quality of teams that Wisconsin has played so far this year. This matchup should be one of the premier regular-season games to watch this season as two Top-10 rivals face off in Big Ten conference play on Tuesday night.

After the postponement of their Sunday game against Penn State due to COVID-19, No. 8 Wisconsin has had the entire week to prepare for Thursday’s matchup against the Indiana Hoosiers at the Kohl Center.

Related: Wisconsin basketball falls in the latest AP poll, stays in top 10

This break has been Wisconsin’s first extended time off since the beginning of December, which could serve well in resting the starting five that has seen a lot of minutes down the stretch. It will also allow Greg Gard and the Badgers to have more time to prepare for another deceptively good Big Ten matchup.

Although the Hoosiers are 2-2 in conference play, they are 7-4 on the year with notable wins against Providence, Butler and Maryland. Indiana is led in points and rebounds by forward Trayce Jackson-Davis, who is averaging 20.3 points, 8.9 rebounds, 1.7 blocks and 1.4 assists a game. He will be a troublesome matchup for Wisconsin’s Micah Potter and Nate Reuvers that have been extremely inconsistent in the Badgers’ last few games.

This matchup is the start of a stretch of more difficult games for Wisconsin, so it will be vital for them to get started with a victory on Thursday. After the game against Indiana, the Badgers will play on the road against No. 10 Michigan and No. 15 Rutgers.
