Winnipeg Jets at Detroit Red Wings odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Thursday’s Winnipeg Jets at Detroit Red Wings odds and lines, with NHL expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3011″ ]

The Winnipeg Jets (3-3-0) take on the Detroit Red Wings (5-1-1) Thursday at Little Caesars Arena. Puck drop is set for 7 p.m. ET (ESPN+/Hulu). Below, we analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Jets vs. Red Wings odds, and make our expert NHL picks and predictions.

The Jets are coming off a 4-2 win over the St. Louis Blues Tuesday night. LW Kyle Connor scored his 4th goal of the season, and the Jets held St. Louis to just 20 shots on goal. Before that, they took down the Edmonton Oilers, 3-2, in overtime.

The Red Wings snapped a 5-game winning streak with a 5-4 loss in overtime to the Seattle Kraken Tuesday. They have points in 6 straight. RW Alex DeBrincat leads the NHL with 9 goals, and C Dylan Larkin is 2nd in the NHL with 14 points.

Jets at Red Wings projected goalies

Connor Hellebuyck (3-2-0, 3.39 GAA, .881 SV%) vs. Ville Husso (3-1-1, 3.38 GAA, .893 SV%)

Hellebuyck has gotten off to a rough start, but he has only allowed 2 goals in each of his last 2 starts. He only stopped 18 of 20 shots against St. Louis, but he stopped RW Jordan Kyrou on a breakaway twice in the game. Hellebuyck faced Detroit twice last season, and one of them was an ugly 6-goal performance where he stopped just 16 of 22. He won the other game after stopping 23 of 25.

Husso has been a little erratic to open the season as well. He has allowed at least 2 goals in each of his 5 starts. He was touched up for 5 goals on 38 shots in the 5-4 overtime loss to the Kraken Tuesday night. Husso faced Winnipeg once last season, winning 7-5, and stopping 32 of 37 shots he faced.

Jets at Red Wings picks and predictions

Prediction

Red Wings 4, Jets 3

Moneyline

This should be a fast-paced one with both goalies having some issues thus far. Detroit is really rolling, and unless Husso just can’t hang, they should have enough firepower to get it done. The Wings have won 3 of the last 5 meetings, they’re at home and on a heater offensively. There’s a chance the Wings go with backup James Reimer, who has a 1.00 GAA through 2 starts. Detroit has gone from -105 to +105 Thursday morning. DeBrincat has become questionable due to an illness, which is likely the reason, but I still like the Wings.

Take the RED WINGS +105.

Puck line/Against the spread

I don’t like either side of the PL here.

One prop bet stands out, though. Larkin has goals in 3 straight games. If DeBrincat is out or limited, he’ll have to continue the offensive pressure.

Take DYLAN LARKIN ANYTIME GOAL +165.

Over/Under

Detroit has scored at least 4 goals in 6 straight games and at least 3 in all 7. The last 2 meetings between the teams have gone Over. Both goalies have been leaky.

I LEAN OVER 6.5 (-105).

Vegas Golden Knights at Winnipeg Jets odds, picks and predictions

The Vegas Golden Knights (4-0-0) and Winnipeg Jets (1-2-0) clash Thursday at 8 p.m. ET at the Canada Life Centre. Below, we analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Golden Knights vs. Jets odds, and make our expert NHL picks and predictions.

Vegas has opened the season with 4 straight wins. The Knights have piled up a plus-10 goal differential and have done so with the benefit of just 2 powerplay goals. Vegas last played Tuesday, edging the Dallas Stars 3-2 in a shootout.

The Jets also played Tuesday; they were drubbed by the Los Angeles Kings 5-1in L.A. Winnipeg ranks 32nd in the NHL in defense, allowing 4.67 goals per game.

Golden Knights at Jets projected goalies

Adin Hill (3-0-0, 1.31 GAA, .951 SV%) vs. Laurent Brossoit (7-0-3, 2.17 GAA, .927 SV% in 2022-23)

Hill has had a hot hand so far. He stopped 24 of 26 shots in Tuesday’s 3-2 shootout win over the Stars. He’s a 7-year veteran who came on string after the 1st of the year last season. He faced Winnipeg 3 times, clocking a .907 SV%.

Brossoit has appeared in 35 games over the last 2 seasons, both with the club he’ll face on Thursday. The now 30-year-old had also spent time with the Edmonton Oilers and Jets (2018-21) before going to Vegas in 2021.

Golden Knights at Jets picks and predictions

Prediction

Golden Knights 4, Jets 3

Moneyline

The Winnipeg defense has just been too loose. And its offensive struggles from Tuesday may well carry over. The Jets had issues last season with scoring slumps often coming in pairs and bunches.

The Knights are better at creating quality scoring chances, and they likely won’t let the Jets through the door on a powerplay. The Vegas PK has thus far gone 11-for-11.

BACK THE GOLDEN KNIGHTS (-115).

Puck line/Against the spread

We should want a bit more return for Vegas here. A +210 would make for some interest. PASS otherwise.

Over/Under

There is enough goaltending gray area here to make the best course of action a STEER CLEAR.

Los Angeles Kings at Winnipeg Jets odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Tuesday’s Los Angeles Kings at Winnipeg Jets odds and lines, with NHL expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3011″ ]

The Los Angeles Kings (0-1-1) and Winnipeg Jets (1-1-0) meet Tuesday at Canada Life Centre. Puck drop is scheduled for 8 p.m. ET (ESPN+). Below, we analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Kings vs. Jets odds, and make our expert NHL picks and predictions.

The Kings opened the season with a dismal 5-2 loss against the Colorado Avalanche, while suffering a wild 6-5 shootout loss against the Carolina Hurricanes on Saturday. Los Angeles has struggled on defense and on goaltending, with the Over cashing in each outing.

The Jets have been in a similar boat, falling 5-3 in the opener against the Calgary Flames on the road, while winning a wild 6-4 matinee skate with the Florida Panthers Saturday. That’s 9 goals scored, and 9 goals allowed. Defense hasn’t been a hallmark for either of these teams.

  • Over/Under (O/U): 6.5 (O: -105 | U: -115)

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3012″ ]

Kings at Jets projected goalies

Cam Talbot (0-1-0, 4.02 GAA, .889 SV%) vs. Connor Hellebuyck (1-1-0, 4.07 GAA, .852 SV%)

Talbot was inked to replace the departed Joonas Korpisalo, who was brought in at the trade deadline for a bump. Talbot allowed 4 goals on 36 shots against the Avalanche in the opener, while Pheonix Copley started against the Hurricanes. Neither has been very good in the first two outings.

Hellebuyck hasn’t been sharp to date, allowing 4 goals in each of his outings. He’ll get better, and he was much sharper against the Panthers at home on Saturday with 29 saves on 33 shots. He was 1-1-0 with a 3.93 GAA and .890 SV% in 2 starts against the Kings last season, so we might get more of the same.

Kings at Jets picks and predictions

Prediction

Kings 5, Jets 3

Moneyline

The KINGS (+110) are a solid value on the road. The Kings won 2 of the 3 regular-season meetings in 2022-23, including the past 2 outings. That includes a 6-5 shootout win in the only battle in Winnipeg last season.

The Jets (-130) have dropped 5 straight games against the Western Conference, and 5 in a row against the Pacific Division, dating back to last season.

Puck line/Against the spread

The Kings +1.5 (-225) will cost you more than 2 times your potential return, and that’s just too much. If you like Los Angeles, just play it straight up instead.

AVOID.

Over/Under

The best play on the board is the OVER 6.5 (-105).

While the head-to-head trends might suggest otherwise, considering the Under is 5-2 in the past 7 meetings in Winnipeg, and 10 of the past 13 meetings overall, both of these teams have struggled at the defensive end.

Both teams have cashed the Over in each of their outings, with Winnipeg averaging 4.5 goals per game (GPG), while allowing 4.5 GPG. Los Angeles is averaging 3.5 GPG, and 5.5 GPG. The PA announcer in Winnipeg better be ready to announce plenty of goals.

Winnipeg Jets at Calgary Flames odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Wednesday’s Winnipeg Jets at Calgary Flames odds and lines, with NHL expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3011″ ]

The Winnipeg Jets and the Calgary Flames open their 2023-24 National Hockey League regular seasons Wednesday at Scotiabank Saddledome in Calgary. Puck drop is scheduled for 10 p.m. ET (ESPN+). Below, we analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Jets vs. Flames odds, and make our expert NHL picks and predictions.

The Jets head to Calgary looking to get off on the right foot, but the home team has dominated this series lately, winning 4 of the past 5 meetings in the series. The Jets are also just 8-17 in the past 25 trips to Calgary.

The Flames saw G Jacob Markstrom perform well in the preseason, including a 5-4 victory over the Jets on Oct. 2 with Markstrom and G  Connor Hellebuyck facing each other in Alberta.

  • Over/Under (O/U): 6.5 (O: +100 | U: -120)

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3012″ ]

Jets at Flames projected goalies

Connor Hellebuyck (37-25-2, 2.49 GAA, .920 SV%, 4 SO – 2022-23) vs. Jacob Markstrom (23-21-12, 2.92 GAA, .892 SV% , 1 SO)

Hellebuyck is fresh off signing a 7-year, $59 million extension. He was just 1-2-0 in 3 starts against the Flames last season despite a solid 2.71 GAA and .924 SV%.

Markstrom picked up a win on April 5 in Winnipeg, kicking aside 34 of the 35 shots he faced. He won 2 of his 3 starts against the Jets last season, and he also allowed just 2 goals on 23 shots in his only home start against Winnipeg in a 3-2 victory on Nov. 12.

Jets at Flames picks and predictions

Prediction

Flames 3, Jets 2

Moneyline

The FLAMES (-140) are a decent play as moderate favorites in the opener. Calgary has dominated Winnipeg over the years at the Scotiabank Saddledome, going 17-8 in the past 25 home games against the Jets. The home team has picked up victories in 4 of the past 5 meetings overall in the series, too.

Puck line/Against the spread

The Jets +1.5 (-210) will cost you more than 2 times your potential return if you want a little bit of insurance and just cannot play the Jets straight up.

The underdog is 6-2 in the past 8 meetings, so there is some merit to backing the Jets on the puck line, but that’s just too big of a price to pay and it could easily be spoiled by a late empty-net goal.

PASS.

Over/Under

UNDER 6.5 (-120) might be the best play on the board with 2 solid goaltenders going against each other.

The Under has been the way lately when these teams have met, too, going 7-2-1 in the past 10 meetings in Calgary and 23-8-1 in the past 32 meetings overall.

Winnipeg Jets at Vegas Golden Knights Game 5 odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Thursday’s Winnipeg Jets at Vegas Golden Knights Game 5 odds and lines, with NHL expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Winnipeg Jets and Vegas Golden Knights battle in Game 5 of the Western Conference quarterfinals on Thursday. The Golden Knights lead the series 3-1. Puck drop from T-Mobile Arena is scheduled for 10 p.m. ET (ESPN2). Below, we analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Jets vs. Golden Knights odds, and make our expert NHL picks and predictions.

The Jets surprised the Golden Knights with a 5-1 victory in Game 1 on April 18, but they’ve dropped 3 straight games by a combined score of 14-8. Winnipeg is now facing elimination.

The Golden Knights have scored 4 or more goals in each of the past 3 outings. The Over has cashed in all 4 games in the series, with an average of 7.3 goals per game (GPG).

Jets at Golden Knights projected goalies

Connor Hellebuyck (37-25-2, 2.49 GAA, .920 SV%, 4 SO – regular season) vs. Laurent Brossoit (7-0-3, 2.17 GAA, .927 SV% – regular season)

Hellebuyck started this series on a positive note, allowing just a single goal on 17 shots. The offensive pressure by the Golden Knights has picked up in the last 3 games though and he’s allowed 13 goals on the past 116 shots. He is 1-3-0 with a 3.21 GAA and .895 SV% in 4 games in this series.

Brossoit coughed up 4 goals on 30 shots in Game 1, but he has bounced back with 3 consecutive wins — the first 3 postseason wins of his NHL career. He is 3-1-0 with a 2.75 GAA and .902 SV% in 4 games in the series.

Jets at Golden Knights picks and predictions

Prediction

Golden Knights 4, Jets 1

Moneyline

The Golden Knights (-190) will cost you nearly 2 times your potential return, and that’s too rich for my blood. My personal moneyline limit for a standalone bet is -180.

PASS, and look to the puck line instead.

Puck line/Against the spread

The GOLDEN KNIGHTS -1.5 (+150) are a much better value at plus money.

Vegas has covered the puck line in each of the past 2 games as a favorite.

The Golden Knights have won 4 of the past 5 on home ice, with the lone loss coming in Game 1. Vegas is 4-1 in its last 5 in the Conference Quarterfinals round, too.

Over/Under

The UNDER 5.5 (+105) is worth a look at plus money, but go lightly.

The Over has cashed in each of the first 4 games in this series, so this requires a leap of faith. However, the Under is 23-7-1 in the past 31 games on the road for the Jets, while going 12-4-3 in the past 19 when working on 2 days of rest.

Vegas should see a decent amount of goals, but I expect Winnipeg to struggle in this elimination game.

Vegas Golden Knights at Winnipeg Jets Game 4 odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Monday’s Vegas Golden Knights at Winnipeg Jets Game 4 odds and lines, with NHL expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Vegas Golden Knights and Winnipeg Jets battle in Game 4 of the Western Conference quarterfinals on Monday. The Golden Knights lead the series 2-1. Puck drop from Canada Life Centre is scheduled for 9:30 p.m. ET (ESPN). Below, we analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Golden Knights vs. Jets odds, and make our expert NHL picks and predictions.

The Golden Knights picked up a 5-4 win in double overtime in Game 3, seizing home-ice advantage back after losing Game 1 at T-Mobile Arena.

Vegas built a 4-1 lead heading into the 3rd period in Game 3, but the Jets scored 3 unanswered goals to force overtime, with Adam Lowry scoring with an extra attacker with just 22 seconds left in regulation. Michael Amadio spoiled the party in 2 OT, however.

The Jets have actually matched the Golden Knights 11-11 in goals in the 3 games, but Winnipeg finds itself down in the series. The Jets have allowed 5 goals in each of the last 2 outings, too.

Golden Knights at Jets projected goalies

Laurent Brossoit (7-0-3, 2.17 GAA, .927 SV% – regular season vs. Connor Hellebuyck (37-25-2, 2.49 GAA, .920 SV%, 4 SO – regular season)

Brossoit picked up his 1st NHL postseason win in Game 2, stopping 31 of 33 shots, and he followed it up with a win in 2 OT in Game 3. He had a bad 3rd period in Game 3, but he bounced back by shutting the door in OT.

Hellebuyck has faced a lot of rubber in the last 2 games. He was barely tested in Game 1, turning aside all 16 shots. However, in Game 2, he allowed 5 goals on 39 shots, and he coughed up 5 goals on 48 shots in the 2 OT odyssey in Game 3.

Golden Knights at Jets picks and predictions

Prediction

Jets 4, Golden Knights 3

Moneyline

The JETS (-110) aren’t going to roll over and make it easy for the Golden Knights (-110) in Game 4.

Winnipeg faces a must-win situation on home ice, as a loss in Game 4 will put it down 3-1, with the series shifting back to Las Vegas. The Jets have played well enough to win 2 of the 3 games, but they have just the lone victory in the series opener. I expect the Jets to show out in Game 4, especially since they’re up against their former backup goalie Brossoit, a player many forwards know well.

Puck line/Against the spread

The Jets +1.5 (-275) will cost you nearly 3 times your potential return, and that’s way too costly with not enough value. My personal limit for a puck line wager such as this would be -175, and this is much more expensive than that.

AVOID.

Over/Under

The OVER 5.5 (-120) is the best play on the board in Game 4.

We’ve had a total of 22 goals in the 1st 3 games, including 11 goals for each side. That’s an average of 7.3 goals per game in each contest so far. There is no reason to believe the scoring is suddenly going to dry up. Keep going high on the total until the defense and goaltenders step up. It hasn’t happened yet.

Vegas Golden Knights at Winnipeg Jets Game 3 odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Saturday’s Vegas Golden Knights at Winnipeg Jets Game 3 odds and lines, with NHL expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Vegas Golden Knights meet the Winnipeg Jets Saturday for Game 3 of their Western Conference quarterfinals series as it shifts to Manitoba. Puck drop from Canada Life Centre is scheduled for 4 p.m. ET (TBS). Below, we analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Golden Knights vs. Jets odds, and make our expert NHL picks and predictions.

The series is tied 1-1.

The Jets opened with a surprising 5-1 victory in Game 1 Tuesday, but the Golden Knights bounced back in a big way with a 5-2 win in Game 2 Thursday to square the series.

Winnipeg C Adam Lowry scored his 3rd goal of the series to break the ice midway through the 1st period, and Winnipeg held a 1-0 lead heading to the 2nd. Vegas outscored Winnipeg 2-1 in the 2nd and posted 3 unanswered goals in the 3rd for the series-tying win.

The intensity was ratcheted up in Game 2, as well, with 18 penalty minutes in the 1st period, including 5 roughing penalties. Look for more of the same as we continue getting deeper into the series.

Brossoit was making just his 2nd NHL postseason start in Game 2, and he earned his first-ever playoff win. He kicked aside 31 of the 33 shots he faced, and 1 of the goals allowed came on the power play.

Hellebuyck had a light workload in Game 1, allowing just a single goal on 17 shots. That changed dramatically in Game 2, as he was peppered with 39 shots and coughed up 5 goals. He returns home where he was 22-11-1 with a 2.22 GAA, .926 SV% and 4 SO over 34 starts in the regular season.

Golden Knights at Jets picks and predictions

Prediction

Jets 4, Golden Knights 3

Moneyline

The JETS (-115) are a solid play on home ice in Game 3.

The Golden Knights have won just once in the past 5 trips to Winnipeg, with the home team winning 5 of the past 7 in this series and the favorite also going 5-2 during the same span. Winnipeg has won 5 of the past 6 games overall at home, too.

Puck line/Against the spread

The Golden Knights +1.5 (-275) will cost you nearly 3 times your potential return, and that’s way too much risk for not nearly enough reward.

Vegas has cashed in 4 straight on the puck line as an underdog. However, there is just not enough value here to make this wager.

PASS.

Over/Under

OVER 5.5 (-110) is the best play for the 2nd straight game in this series.

The Over cashed in each of the 2 games in Vegas, and is Over is 3-1-1 in the previous 5 meetings. While the Under has dominated for the Jets lately, the Over is 3-0-1 in their past 4 games against teams with a winning percentage greater than .600.

Winnipeg Jets at Vegas Golden Knights Game 2 odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Thursday’s Winnipeg Jets at Vegas Golden Knights Game 2 odds and lines, with NHL expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Winnipeg Jets (47-33-3) visit the Vegas Golden Knights (51-23-9) on Thursday for Game 2 of the Western Conference quarterfinals. Puck drop from T-Mobile Arena is scheduled for 10 p.m. ET (TBS). Below, we analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Jets vs. Golden Knights odds, and make our expert NHL picks and predictions.

The Jets picked up one of the more unexpected playoff results in Game 1, winning 5-1.

After a scoreless 1st period, Kyle Connor and Pierre-Luc Dubois struck for even-strength goals to quite “The Fortress” in the first 2:26 of the 2nd period. William Karlsson got the crowd back into it, slicing the lead in half at 15:49 of the period.

However, the 3rd period was all Jets, as Blake Wheeler notched a goal at 3:53, and the Jets saw Adam Lowry bag a pair of empty-net goals to put an exclamation point on the 5-1 Game 1 victory.

Jets forward Morgan Barron was shoved into the crease by Chandler Stephenson, and his face landed on the skate of sprawling goaltender Laurent Brossoit. The blade obviously missed his eye, but he needed 75 stitches to close the gash. Is he out for the season? No, he is a hockey player. He returned with the bird cage, and finished the game with 3 shots and 5 hits.

Jets at Golden Knights Game 2 projected goalies

Connor Hellebuyck (37-25-2, 2.49 GAA, .920 SV%, 4 SO – regular season) vs. Laurent Brossoit (7-0-3, 2.17 GAA, .927 SV% – regular season)

Hellebuyck was barely tested in Game 1, facing just 17 shots while allowing the Karlsson marker in the 2nd period. The Michigander picked up his 17th career NHL postseason win, and he has a 2.42 GAA and .921 SV% with 3 SO in his 36 career playoff starts.

Brossoit, who was Hellebuyck’s backup in Winnipeg for 3 seasons from 2018-20, is still in search of that 1st-ever NHL playoff win. In fact, Brossoit was making his 1st start in the playoffs in Game 1, with just a relief appearance in the 2017 playoffs with the Edmonton Oilers to his credit.

Jets at Golden Knights Game 2 picks and predictions

Prediction

Golden Knights 4, Jets 3

Moneyline

The GOLDEN KNIGHTS (-150) are moderate favorites in Game 2, and worth backing despite the obvious goaltender disparity. Hellebuyck has the experience, Brossoit has mostly watched postseason games with a ball cap, especially in his 3 seasons in Winnipeg.

Still, VGK is 12-4 in the last 16 games at home, while going 7-3 in the last 10 when allowing 3 or more goals in the previous outing. I expect Vegas to bounce back in a big way, as Brossoit gets that huge 1st-ever NHL playoff win.

Puck line/Against the spread

The Jets +1.5 (-200) will cost you 2 times your potential return, and that’s just too much risk and not enough reward. Winnipeg seized home-ice advantage in this series with a giant Game 1 win, but sweeping both games in Vegas is too much to ask. But, don’t expect this scrappy bunch to go quietly into the night, either.

PASS.

Over/Under

OVER 5.5 (-115) is the best play on the board. Vegas will get its offense jump-started in Game 2, feeding off the raucous crowd at T-Mobile Arena.

The Jets showed they can handle Brossoit, and many of the players like Connor, Mark Scheifele, Wheeler, etc. played with him, so they know his tendencies from years of practicing together. That is helpful for goal scorers, too.

I like a higher-scoring affair in Game 2.

Winnipeg Jets at Colorado Avalanche odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Thursday’s Winnipeg Jets at Colorado Avalanche odds and lines, with NHL expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Winnipeg Jets (46-32-3) take on the Colorado Avalanche (49-24-7) Thursday at Ball Arena. Puck drop is scheduled for 8 p.m. ET (ESPN+). Below, we analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Jets vs. Avalanche odds, and make our expert NHL picks and predictions.

The Jets have won 3 in a row after a 3-1 victory at the Minnesota Wild Tuesday. They are 7-3-0 in the last 10 games. Winnipeg is locked into the 2nd Western Conference Wild Card spot and is set to face either the Vegas Golden Knights or Edmonton Oilers in the opening round of the playoffs.

The Avs fell a point behind the Dallas Stars for the Central Division lead after Edmonton beat them 2-1 in overtime Tuesday. The Avs have a game in hand on the Stars, who end their regular season Thursday against the St. Louis Blues. Dallas would hold a potential tiebreaker with 4 more regulation wins than the Avs. Colorado is playing without D Cale Makar (lower body), who has been out since April 1.

Jets at Avalanche projected goalies

David Rittich (9-7-1, 2.65 GAA, .902 SV%) vs. Alexandar Georgiev (38-16-6, 2.53 GAA, .919 SV%, 5 SO)

Rittich hasn’t played since March 14. The 30-year-old backup was 0-1-1 in 3 appearances in March with a 3.86 GAA and .842 SV%. He came on in relief against Colorado Feb. 24 and stopped all 10 shots he faced in a period of action. He got 2 starts against the Avalanche last year and stopped 71 of 81 shots for a .877 SV%.

Georgiev was awesome in a losing effort Tuesday, stopping 38 of 40 shots against Edmonton. He’s 4-0-1 with a 2.36 GAA and .926 SV% this month. He’s 1-1-1 with a 3.33 GAA and .872 SV% in 3 starts against the Jets this season.

Jets at Avalanche picks and predictions

Prediction

Avalanche 4, Jets 2

Moneyline

The Avs have beaten up non-playoff teams of late but haven’t really reached last year’s threshold when it comes to playoff teams. They scored 25 goals in their 6 games against non-playoff teams over the last 10 games, and 12 goals in the 4 games against playoff teams. They’ll get it done Thursday because Winnipeg isn’t playing for anything. However, we’ll PASS at -225.

Puck line/Against the spread

Winnipeg has actually won 3 out of the last 4 games against Colorado, and the Avs know that. They need this game, and they’re going to empty the tank. Colorado has won 4 of its last 8 games by multiple goals, and 7 of the last 10 games between these teams have been settled by multiple goals.

We’ll take AVALANCHE -1.5 (+115).

Over/Under

We’re predicting a push here, and it really can go either way. The Over is 4-0 in the last 4 meetings in Colorado. However, this game means nothing to Winnipeg, so throw that out the window.

PASS on the total, but under the WIN/TOTAL section, I like AVALANCHE AND OVER 4.5 GOALS (-130). We’ll need 5 goals, and that would cost you -450 on the total itself.

Winnipeg Jets at Minnesota Wild odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Tuesday’s Winnipeg Jets at Minnesota Wild odds and lines, with NHL expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Winnipeg Jets (45-32-3) travel to meet the Minnesota Wild (46-24-10) Tuesday. Puck drop from XCel Energy Center is scheduled for 8 p.m. ET (ESPN+). Below, we analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Jets vs. Wild odds, and make our expert NHL picks and predictions.

The Jets are in the driver’s seat for the final Wild Card spot in the Western Conference. Winnipeg has 93 points with 2 regular-season games remaining, and it is 2 points clear of the Calgary Flames, and 3 points clear of the Nashville Predators.

Winnipeg has helped itself out lately, winning 4 of the last 5 games, including a key 2-0 victory over the Predators on Saturday.

The Wild have managed 102 points, sitting 2 points behind the Colorado Avalanche and Dallas Stars for 1st place in the Central Division. Minnesota picked up a 4-2 victory on March 8 in the most recent meeting in Winnipeg.

Jets at Wild projected goalies

Connor Hellebuyck (35-25-2, 2.53 GAA, .919 SV%, 4 SO) vs. Marc-Andre Fleury (24-15-4, 2.84 GAA, .909 SV%, 2 SO)

Hellebuyck allowed 2 goals on 21 shots in a 6-2 victory Monday against the San Jose Sharks. With a back-to-back situation, normally it would be unusual for a team to start a goalie 2 nights in a row. However, the Jets are fighting for a playoff spot, and they have to go with their best.

Fleury coughed up 4 goals on 31 shots in a 4-1 loss Thursday at Pittsburgh against his original NHL team, and he is 0-2-0 with a 3.57 GAA and .904 SV% in 2 starts in April.

Jets at Wild picks and predictions

Prediction

Wild 3, Jets 2

Moneyline

The WILD (-125) are in the mix for a division title, and Minnesota has dominated this series lately.

The Jets (+105) are just 2-6 in the last 8 meetings, while going 0-4 in the last 4 visits to the Twin Cities. The home team has cashed in 6 of the last 8 meetings, too.

The Jets just played Monday, and they’re 5-1 in the last 6 games on no rest. However, the Wild have won 13 of the last 17 inside the Western Conference, and it will get the all-important 2 points to keep their division title hopes alive.

Puck line/Against the spread

The Jets +1.5 (-250) will cost you 2 1/2 times your potential return, and that’s way too expensive if you want some insurance.

The Jets have struggled in recent years against the Wild, and there is no reason to play Winnipeg plus the goal and a half on the road.

AVOID.

Over/Under

The UNDER 5.5 (+100) is the lean despite the series trends.

The Over is 5-2 in the last 7 meetings, while going 4-1-1 in the last 6 meetings in the Twin Cities.

However, the Under is 22-5 in the last 27 road games for the Jets, while going 4-1 in the last 5 against winning teams. The Under is also 10-1-2 in the last 13 games inside the Central Division, while going 9-2-1 in the last 12 games on no rest.

For the Wild, the Under is 18-6-2 in the last 26 home games, too.
