Chiefs stock watch: Which players impressed during Week 12 vs. Raiders?

Here’s a look at the stock trends for some #Chiefs players after the Week 12 win over the #Raiders. | from: @EdEastonJr

On Sunday, the Kansas City Chiefs returned to their winning ways on the road against the Las Vegas Raiders. The victory in the division is critical as the team continues to keep pace with the top teams in the AFC, as seeding is essential heading into the postseason.

The defense was caught off balance in the first half, with the Raiders marching down the field for two touchdowns. Trent McDuffie provided more pressure blitzing from the cornerback position, while Chris Jones, George Karlaftis, and the defensive line held strong after Josh Jacobs’ touchdown run. The play of the day was the stop on fourth down late in the final quarter to seal Las Vegas’ fate.

Patrick Mahomes and the offense started slow but picked things up in the second quarter with a steady dose of Isiah Pacheco leading the ground game. Travis Kelce made big plays alongside rookie wide receiver Rashee Rice, who appears more confident in the system as a standout target. Justin Watson has proven to be a top red zone option for the second consecutive game.

The Chiefs didn’t let the tough loss at home last Monday night against the Philadelphia Eagles change their mindset on offense. Marquez Valdes-Scantling showed value outside of catches, with several key blocks on scoring drives.

Here’s a look at how the stock is trending for some players after the Week 12 victory at Allegiant Stadium:

NFL Week 13 Power Rankings: Eagles maintain top spot, Steelers rise post Canada

The latest NFL power rankings have the Eagles remain at the top with the Lions sliding after losing on Thanksgiving Day

Week 12 was a lot of fun from start to finish.

Thanksgiving Day might have had two blowouts but all three games were engaging enough throughout to keep the entertainment value high. The Dallas Cowboys and San Francisco 49ers solidified themselves at the top of the NFC and the Green Bay Packers kept themselves alive in the wild card race.

After the Miami Dolphins handled the New York Jets on Black Friday, the Sunday slate was mostly underwhelming. C.J. Stroud and Trevor Lawrence dueled in Houston to complete their season series in what could be the next generational quarterback rivalry in the NFL.

The Buffalo Bills went into Philadelphia and played very well against the Eagles and the Baltimore Ravens looked like a top team in the NFL.

Going into Monday Night Football between the Minnesota Vikings and Chicago Bears, the latest batch of NFL power rankings highlight both some heavy movement and teams solidifying themselves amongst their peers.

Andy Reid takes top spot as Chiefs’ all-time winningest head coach

Andy Reid became the winningest coach in #Chiefs history after Kansas City’s victory over the #Raiders in Week 12.

The course of the Kansas City Chiefs franchise was forever altered on January 4, 2013, when the team agreed to terms with Andy Reid for their vacant head coach position.

The team cleaned house, traded for quarterback Alex Smith, drafted fan-favorite tackle Eric Fisher with the No. 1 pick in the draft, and began an arduous journey toward relevance after years of mediocrity.

Now, nearly 11 seasons and two Super Bowl rings later, Reid has officially done what seemed to be impossible all those years ago. With Kansas City’s win over the Las Vegas Raiders in Week 12, the long-tenured skipper has officially become the winningest coach in Chiefs history.

In achieving this feat with Kansas City, Reid also became the first coach in league history to have earned the title with two teams, the other being the Philadelphia Eagles, where he coached for 14 years before catching on with the Chiefs.

Expect Reid to add to his total win count as Kansas City fights for the No. 1 seed in the AFC playoffs.

NFL power rankings: Eagles back on top after Week 12

The 10-1 Eagles are the team to beat in the NFL this season.

Well, it seems that we got a little ahead of ourselves when we put the Detroit Lions (8-3) as the No. 1 team in our NFL power rankings last week.

Right after jumping to the top of these weekly power rankings, the Lions were promptly defeated by the Green Bay Packers (5-6) on Thanksgiving Day. Overall, the Packers don’t seem to be a better team than the Lions, but it’s probably fair to say we made a mistake ranking Detroit at No. 1 in Week 11.

So, who’s back on top this week?

The Philadelphia Eagles (10-1) jump back to the No. 1 spot after defeating the Buffalo Bills (6-6) on Sunday. Elsewhere in the NFC East, the Dallas Cowboys (8-3) made a statement on Thanksgiving with a 45-10 win over the Washington Commanders (4-8).

In the AFC East, the Miami Dolphins (8-3) remain out in front following a 34-13 win over the New York Jets (4-7) on Black Friday. The Jacksonville Jaguars (8-3) and Houston Texans (6-5) faced off in an AFC South showdown on Sunday and the Jags prevailed 24-21. In the AFC West, the Kansas City Chiefs (8-3) remain in front, but the Denver Broncos (6-5) have won their last five games.

Meanwhile, in the NFC South, the New Orleans Saints (5-6) and Atlanta Falcons (5-6) also had a big division showdown in Week 12 and Atlanta won 24-15. Elsewhere, the San Francisco 49ers (8-3) remain the favorites to win the NFC West after defeating the Seattle Seahawks (6-5) on Thanksgiving.

The Chicago Bears (3-8) and Minnesota Vikings (6-5) are still yet to play on Monday Night Football, but for now, here are our NFL power rankings after (almost) 12 weeks of action.

Twitter reacts to Chiefs’ Week 12 win over Raiders

Check out all of Twitter’s top rections to the #Chiefs’ Week 12 win over the #Raiders.

The Kansas City Chiefs snuck out of Allegiant Stadium with their eighth win of the 2023 season after a gritty road matchup against the Las Vegas Raiders in Week 12.

Both teams played with their hair on fire in this game, and while Kansas City managed to claw its way back from a 14-point deficit in the first half, each squad had plenty to be proud of in the divisional contest.

Patrick Mahomes played one of his most complete games of the season, Isiah Pacheco scored two touchdowns, and the Chiefs’ pass rush was relentless against rookie quarterback Aidan O’Connell, despite only tallying a single sack.

While this game wasn’t the blowout many of Kansas City’s fans were hoping for after a crushing defeat at the hands of the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 11, the win keeps the Chiefs in the mix for the No. 1 seed in the AFC playoffs later in the season.

Broncos defeat Browns 29-12 for 5th-straight win

The Broncos have won five straight games! Following their win over the Browns, Denver is now 6-5 and right in mix for the playoffs.

The Denver Broncos keep on rolling.

Following a win over the Cleveland Browns on Sunday — their fifth-straight victory — the Broncos are now 6-5 and right back in the AFC’s playoff mix.

Denver’s defense started out hot, forcing Cleveland’s offense into a 3-and-out on the game’s opening drive. The Broncos then went 80 yards on nine plays before running back Samaje Perine scored on a three-yard touchdown run to take an early 7-0 lead.

On their ensuing drive, the Browns went for it on 4th-and-inches and failed to convert at midfield, giving Denver the ball back with good field position.  The Broncos then promptly gave the ball back after quarterback Russell Wilson lost a fumble on an eight-yard run.

After that turnover, Denver’s defense forced another 3-and-out. Wilson then led another 80-yard drive that ended with his two-yard touchdown run that made it 14-0 in the second quarter.

After that, Cleveland turned to its ground game and drove 57 yards before settling for a 36-yard field goal to make it 14-3. The Browns later added a second field goal to make it 14-6 going into halftime.

After the Broncos went 3-and-out to open the third quarter, Cleveland went 79 yards and scored on Dorian Thompson-Robinson’s two-yard touchdown pass to tight end Harrison Bryant to make it 14-12. The Browns’ ensuring two-point attempt failed.

On its next drive, Denver went 70 yards down to Cleveland’s five-yard line before having to settle for a 23-yard Wil Lutz field goal, increasing the lead to 17-12 late in the third quarter.

After Thompson-Robinson left with a head injury late in the third quarter, the Browns fumbled early in the fourth and the Broncos recovered the ball at Cleveland’s 20-yard line. Wilson then threw a eight-yard touchdown pass to tight end Adam Trautman to make it 24-12.

After another Browns lost fumble, Denver added a field goal to extend the lead to 27-12 late in the fourth quarter. The defense then put a cherry on top with a safety to secure a 29-12 victory.

Up next for the Broncos is a road game against the Houston Texans (6-5) in Week 13.

WATCH: Chiefs WR Rashee Rice breaks free for long TD vs. Raiders

Watch #Chiefs rookie Rashee Rice break free to score a long touchdown against the #Raiders in Week 12.

The Kansas City Chiefs lead the Las Vegas Raiders by 11 points early in the fourth quarter after rookie receiver Rashee Rice galloped into the end zone to score his first touchdown of the day.

Rice caught a pass from Patrick Mahomes with plenty of space to run and wasted no time turning on the jets and cutting upfield toward the end zone.

Rice’s speed was on full display during this play, and his ability to elude Las Vegas’ defenders should be a heartening sign for Chiefs fans who have been concerned with the play of Kansas City’s receivers.

While an 11-point lead may feel safe in the fourth quarter of this game, Andy Reid and the Chiefs can’t afford to let complacency set in before the final whistle blows. Expect Kansas City to stick to the fundamentals as the Chiefs look to close this game out to earn their eighth win of the 2023 season.
