Tommy Fleetwood traded his clubs for his stepson’s as a caddie at Challenge Tour event

No days off for Tommy Fleetwood.

No days off for Tommy Fleetwood.

After playing the last three weeks in the United States on the PGA Tour, including a T-3 finish at the 2024 Masters, Fleetwood is in United Arab Emirates this week at a Challenge Tour event. Not as a player, but as a caddie for his 17-year-old stepson Oscar Craig.

And it seems Fleetwood knows a thing or two about being a good looper. He has helped Craig, playing this week as an amateur at Saadiyat Beach Golf Club in Abu Dhabi, to a 3-under 69 start, good enough for T-14.

Not bad for a 17-year-old, and not bad for Fleetwood after his busy three-week stretch.

Craig earned his spot in the tournament by winning the Ras Al Khaimah Men’s Open in February. The family has a home in Dubai, so it’s not a far trip from home for them to tackle the links together this week.

Here’s a look at Fleetwood’s looping skills through photos:

Top photos from QB Graham Mertz’s 2023 Florida football campaign

Take a look at the best photos from Graham Mertz’ 2023 campaign with the Florida Gators.

Florida football brought Wisconsin Badgers transfer quarterback [autotag]Graham Mertz[/autotag] to Gainesville for the 2023 campaign after losing its star signal-caller, Anthony Richardson, to the NFL draft. The decision was a solid one for the redshirt junior as he was among the nation’s best in pass completion percentage, though he did leave a lot to be desired on downfield plays.

Mertz’s season ended abruptly against the Missouri Tigers with a broken collarbone that shelved him for the following game against the Florida State Seminoles. Still, he managed to complete 261 of his 358 pass attempts (72.9%), tossing 20 touchdowns against three interceptions with an average of 263.9 passing yards over 11 starts.

He is returning for his final season of eligibility in 2024 when he will be the program’s incumbent starter.

Top photos from Princely Umanmielen’s career with Florida football

Take a look at some of the top highlights from game days and practice sessions for the former Gators EDGE.

Florida football saw the departure of one of its top defensive ends this offseason through the NCAA transfer portal as edge defender [autotag]Princely Umanmielen[/autotag] sought greener pastures with the Ole Miss Rebels to wrap up his collegiate career.

Nonetheless, the junior had a fine tenure in Gainsville over the past four season, first seeing action in six games his freshman year during the COVID campaign followed by three-straight seasons appearing in every game the Gators played. In 2023, he earned Coaches All-SEC Second Team, AP All-SEC Second Team and USA Today Sports Network All-SEC Team honors.

Over his career with the Orange and Blue, he recorded 99 total tackles (48 solo, 51 assisted) with 24.5 tackles for a loss (134 yards) of which 15 were sacks (111 yards); Umanmielen also forced three fumbles.

Florida gymnastics finishes 4th at NCAA Championship Finals

The Gators did not win the title on Saturday but still made an incredible run to the NCAA Finals.

Florida gymnastics finished fourth at the NCAA Championship Finals on Saturday, April 20, inside Dickies Arena in Ft. Worth, Texas. Despite a run that brought them all the way until the last meet, the Gators were unable to bring home their fourth title in the sport.

The LSU Tigers claimed its first national title with a final score of 198.2250, followed by runner-up Cal Golden Bears (197.8500), Utah Utes (197.8000) and Florida (197.4375), respectively. Photos: La Costa to open Gil Hanse-renovated North Course in June after NCAA Championships

Check out the photos of the renovated host site for the 2024 men’s and women’s NCAA Championships.

Omni La Costa Resort and Spa in Carlsbad, California, has announced June 1 as the full reopening date of its Championship Course, which has been rebranded the North Course after an extensive renovation by the architectural team of Gil Hanse and Jim Wagner.

The opening to resort guests and members follows the NCAA Division I Women’s (May 17-22) and Men’s (May 24-29) Championships on the North Course. The layout is also slated to host those college championships in 2025 and 2026.

Hanse and Wagner implemented significant changes to the North layout. Among the renovations: A new drivable par-4 11th was built, the green of the par-3 16th was repositioned in a fashion reminiscent of Augusta National Golf Club’s No. 12, and the par-5 18th was stretched to more than 600 yards with water on both sides of the fairway.

The revised layout will feature six sets of tees that play from 4,500 to 7,500 yards. Other changes include transitioning irrigation lines that will continue to use reclaimed water, the removal of several man-made ponds and the reintroduction of natural barrancas that feature drought-tolerant and native species of plants.

“The North Course is now positioned to return to its stature as one of the top venues for championship golf in Southern California,” Hanse said in a media release announcing the opening date and completion of work. “We were able to combine a respect for the natural contours, landforms and vegetation with an emphasis on strategic design. This combination of beauty and interest should prove enjoyable for everyday play by members and resort guests, while asking compelling questions to be answered by the best players in the world during championship events.”

Originally designed by Dick Wilson and opened in 1965, the North layout had been renovated previously several times. It was part of a resort with a tournament pedigree that includes hosting the PGA Tour’s Mercedes Championship from 1969 to 1998, the inaugural WGC-Accenture Match Play in 1999 and the LPGA’s Kia Classic in 2010 and 2012.

The resort also announced its Legends Course has been rebranded to South Course. Both the North and South were the courses’ original names before being changed to Champions and Legends.

The resort also will feature a reimagined practice facility designed by Beau Welling that will include Toptracer technology. It’s all part of an extensive multi-year renovation to the entire resort that stretches from guest rooms and villas to the spa, lobby bar and meeting spaces.

“Working with the ‘best of the best’ course architects like Gil Hanse and his design team is a prime example of our continued commitment and investment to be in the highest echelons of U.S. golf destinations,” the resort’s managing director, Craig Martin, said in the media release. “This transformation signals a full return to championship glory at Omni La Costa and joins the now-completed renovation of the property as a whole resulting in an elevated experience for our members and resort guests to enjoy for decades to come.”

Florida women’s basketball’s senior guard Leilani Correa was picked by the Indiana Fever in the third round with the 27th pick in Monday night’s 2024 WNBA draft.

The selection made her the 20th Gator in program history to be selected in the WNBA draft and the first UF athlete since Kiara Smith was taken by the Connecticut Sun in 2022. She is also Florida’s third player in program history to be selected by the Indiana Fever, with the most recent being Ronni Williams in 2017.
