Watch: Alvin Kamara’s two touchdown runs build big lead for Saints

The New Orleans Saints took an early lead over the reeling Carolina Panthers, thanks to Alvin Kamara’s two trips into the end zone.

Don’t look now, but New Orleans Saints running back Alvin Kamara is making up for lost time. Kamara has made four trips into the end zone in his last two games, and there’s still more than a half of football yet to play on Sunday against the Carolina Panthers.

Kamara scored two touchdown runs against the Tennessee Titans a week ago. He’s already matched that total this week, granting the Saints their easiest opening-drive score of the year at Carolina. The Saints converted three first downs on their first three plays of the game, and capped it all off with Kamara’s 15-yard run through the heart of the Panthers defense. See it for yourself:

Later on, Kamara again found himself set up in scoring position. The Saints snapped the ball at the goal-line and Kamara followed the play design to take the handoff and cut upfield, following the left tackle. He bounced off of a Panthers defender — his signature move — to hit paydirt, extending New Orleans’ lead. Yeah, he’s back, and just in time for the playoffs.

Watch: Demario Davis and Drew Brees light up the Saints vs. Panthers

New Orleans Saints linebacker Demario Davis and quarterback Drew Brees fired up their team before Week 17’s game with the Carolina Panthers.

The New Orleans Saints are minutes away from kicking off against the Carolina Panthers at Bank of America Stadium, and they capped off pregame warmups with the typical fired-up huddle featuring speeches from team leaders like linebacker Demario Davis and quarterback Drew Brees. But Sunday’s speech wasn’t something they’d heard before.

“All I am asking from you,” Davis began, raising his voice and driving the point home, “All I am asking from you is everything you got!”

It’s easy to see how the Saints are able to play together as a team, with great examples like Davis and Brees at the helm. These weekly impassioned pregame speeches are just part of the work they put in every day to show their teammates how to win in the NFL and overcome the adversity each of them faces. Alvin Kamara sprints 40 yards for a TD, gives the Saints the lead over Titans

New Orleans Saints RB Alvin Kamara gave his team the lead in the second half with a 40-yard touchdown sprint against the Tennessee Titans.

It’s been some time since Alvin Kamara last hit paydirt for the New Orleans Saints, but he’s making up for it quickly against the Tennessee Titans. Kamara found a seam and ran 40 yards upfield for a Saints touchdown, giving his team a 17-14 lead early in the second half.

This was exactly the sort of jolt the Saints needed coming out of halftime, following an earlier 61-yard scoring pass to tight end Jared Cook from quarterback Drew Brees. Kamara played a role in that big play as well, having thrown a key block to spring Cook loose down the sideline.

These sort of plays are exactly what the Saints need to compliment the casual excellence of wide receiver Michael Thomas, who is closing in on Marvin Harrison’s NFL record for receptions in a single season. The Titans are committing a ton of resources to slowing Thomas down — up to and including triple coverage on third down — so the Saints need other weapons like Cook and Kamara to make a difference. And they’re doing their part.

Jake Plummer posts funny video about Broncos QB Drew Lock’s ‘sweet move’

Broncos quarterback Drew Lock appeared to turn on fake hash marks with a foot stomp during Sunday’s snowy game against the Chiefs.

The Denver Broncos and Kansas City Chiefs played Sunday’s game at Arrowhead Stadium in the middle of a pretty big snowstorm (these pictures from the game are amazing).

To try to help fans view the white hash marks on the field, CBS had digital hash marks appear on the field in green. The network must have had some glitches though because the fake lines appeared on and off throughout the game.

At one point in the second quarter, the digital hash marks clicked on at the exact moment that Broncos quarterback Drew Lock put his foot on the ground. Former quarterback Jake Plummer posted a video of the moment on Twitter and joked that Lock’s stomp was a “pretty sweet move.”

Some lighthearted fun is probably welcomed by fans in Denver after watching what was otherwise a forgettable performance from the Broncos. Up next for Denver are home games against the Lions and Raiders.

Broncos fans are probably willing to trade moments of humor for a few wins to close out the season, even if it means falling in the draft order.
