This J.T. Daniels stat will get you excited about the future of Georgia football

This crazy J.T. Daniels stat will get you excited about the future of Georgia football, especially at the quarterback position.

On Saturday night, J.T. Daniels proved to the world he can live up to his five-star hype, throwing for 401 yards, 4 touchdowns and 0 interceptions in a 31-24 win over Mississippi State.

Daniels was everything we had hoped he would be. He was connecting on his deep targets, which has been the biggest issue among Georgia quarterbacks this year. Daniels connected with true freshman Jermaine Burton 8 times for 197 yards and 2 touchdowns, and the two of them were in a groove all night. Also exciting was he was connecting with George Pickens, who quietly had a really nice game as well – catching 8 balls for 87 yards and a touchdown.

Basically, it looked like a real offense.

It’s actually been seven years since Georgia has had a quarterback do what Daniels did. And keep in mind we’ve played for a national title since then.

On Saturday night, Daniels became the first Georgia quarterback to throw for 400 yards in a game since Aaron Murray did so in 2013.

Georgia football QB JT Daniels is having a day for UGA vs Mississippi State

JT Daniels is having a nice start to his collegiate career as a Georgia Bulldog.

Through one half, the former five-star quarterback and USC transfer has 204 yards, 2 touchdowns and 0 interceptions.

Kirby Smart had good things to say about him during halftime, saying if he just keeps his eyes down field he’ll continue to play well.

He has built a great connection with true freshman Jermaine Burton, who has struggled to build a solid chemistry with both Stetson Bennett and D’Wan Mathis.

Burton has 7 receptions for 149 yards and a touchdown.

Battle of the Bulldogs: Georgia versus Mississippi State series history

The Georgia Bulldogs have a dominant series record against the Mississippi State Bulldogs. UGA football is favored again in 2020.

The Georgia Bulldogs will play against an ailing, transfer, and opt-out weakened Mississippi State squad this Saturday. In the battle of the Bulldogs, Georgia will start a new quarterback against Mike Leach’s 2-4 team.

Historically, Georgia has dominated the series against Mississippi State, who has had some of their best football seasons in recent years. As long as the SEC plays an eight conference game schedule we won’t see too many games between the two foes.
