5-star Ellis Robinson visiting Georgia for Kentucky game

ESPN’s top-ranked recruit, Ellis Robinson IV, plans to visit Georgia for the Kentucky game

Five-star defensive back Ellis Robinson IV, who is one of Georgia’s top commitments in the class of 2024, plans to visit Georgia for the Kentucky game.

The Kentucky kickoff is at 7 p.m. ET on Oct. 7. Robinson will join numerous other elite recruits for Georgia’s fifth home game of the year. The Georgia-Kentucky game should have an excellent atmosphere.

Robinson said earlier this year that he isn’t going on any more official visits. Robinson committed to the Georgia Bulldogs in February and is planning to sign with the Bulldogs.

Other top college football programs, including Miami and Alabama, were previously making a strong push to flip the 6-foot-1, 175-pound defensive back. Robinson visited Georgia, Miami and Alabama in June.

247Sports ranks Robinson as the No. 3 recruit in the nation and the No. 1 cornerback. He is the No. 2 player in Florida in the class of 2024. ESPN’s recruiting rankings consider the elite defensive back to be the top recruit in the country.

In today’s pass-heavy college football world, teams need excellent talent and skill at the cornerback position.

Robinson plays high school football for one of the top programs in the country, IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida. Former five-star cornerback Daylen Everette, who is a starting cornerback for the Bulldogs, also played for IMG Academy. Georgia has numerous other players and former players with connections to IMG Academy including Philadelphia Eagles linebacker Nolan Smith.

Ellis Robinson holds a slew of scholarship offers. The five-star played for New Rochelle Iona Prep in New York before joining IMG Academy.

The Georgia Bulldogs host the Kentucky Wildcats on Oct. 7. Kickoff of the Kentucky game is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. ET. The game will be televised on ESPN.

Georgia’s Week 6 game against Kentucky will be the Bulldogs’ fifth home game of the year. Georgia has won 22 straight home games.

Georgia and Kentucky are both 4-0 entering Week 5. Both teams are relatively untested. They are both 1-0 in SEC play, but both teams played weak nonconference schedules.

Kentucky has wins over Ball State, Eastern Kentucky, Akron, and Vanderbilt.

Georgia has wins at home against UT-Martin, Ball State, South Carolina, and UAB to start the season.

Georgia plays at Auburn the week before playing Kentucky. The Wildcats host Florida in Week 5 in what will be their toughest game of the 2023 college football season (so far).

Georgia won at Kentucky 16-6 in a physical slugfest. The Bulldogs and Wildcats have had some low-scoring affairs over the years.

The Week 6 SEC football schedule is a good one. It features LSU at Missouri, Western Michigan at Mississippi State, Alabama at Texas A&M, Vanderbilt at Florida, and Arkansas at Ole Miss.

We are looking forward to the Alabama-Texas A&M game on Oct. 7.

Former Florida WR predicts Kentucky to upset Georgia

SEC Network analyst Chris Doering predicts that Kentucky will upset Georgia

Former Florida Gators wide receiver Chris Doering predicts that Kentucky Wildcats will upset Georgia during the 2022 college football season. Doering, who held the SEC’s receiving touchdowns record from 1995-2020, is an analyst for the SEC Network.

Doering had to make a bold prediction and chose to pick Kentucky to win against Georgia. The Wildcats host the Bulldogs on Nov. 19. Kentucky challenged Georgia in Athens more than most teams in 2021. The Wildcats have a very talented team and finished second in the SEC East last season.

Will Kentucky quarterback Will Levis be able to engineer a big performance against Georgia’s defense? We will find out in November.

Former Florida star Chris Doering made his prediction clear on the SEC Network:

Chris Doering joins former Auburn Tigers linebacker Takeo Spikes in predicting the Bulldogs to fall victim to a road upset this season.

Three plays that mattered: Georgia vs. Kentucky

Three plays that mattered from the Kentucky at Georgia game. UGA won thanks to a dominant defense, solid offense and a few big plays.

The Georgia Bulldogs defeated the Kentucky Wildcats, 30-13, in Athens on Oct. 16. The Dawgs looked like the No. 1 team in the country and built a 30-7 lead in their victory.

Kentucky fought hard and kept it close in the first half, but Kirby Smart and Georgia came out stronger in the second half. Stetson Bennett looked particularly comfortable throwing down the field in the second half.

Bennett finished averaging 12.5 yards per passing attempt. His favorite target was freshman tight end Brock Bowers, who showed off his impressive ability to track the football.

Here’s three plays that mattered from the Kentucky-Georgia game:

Kendall Milton’s fumble recovery

Georgia Bulldogs running back Kendall Milton recovered a seemingly pedestrian incomplete pass late in the first quarter. Milton hustled past several closer Kentucky defenders and picked up the football.

Referees are instructed to rule plays as fumbles if it is not obvious. In this case, the referees ruled the play on the field as a fumble. Stetson Bennett’s hand went forward without the football, but at first glance the play looked like an incomplete pass due to how far forward the ball traveled. Upon further review, the play stood as a fumble.

Milton’s recovery gave UGA a manageable third down. UGA scored its first points on the next play.

Georgia football freshman CB leading the SEC

Several young stars are playing beyond their experience for the No. 1 Bulldogs…

No. 1 Georgia is atop the polls and 6-0 thanks to the play of several young stars on both sides of the ball.

On offense, freshmen Ladd McConkey, Adonai Mitchell and Brock Bowers are leading the team in receiving, while redshirt freshman Kelee Ringo is making a name for himself at starting cornerback.

According to Pro Football Focus (PFF), Ringo leads the SEC in passer rating allowed.

Ringo, a former five-star recruit and the No. 1 corner in the 2020 class, missed most of last season nursing a surgically repaired shoulder. UGA lost both starting corners to the NFL this spring, which slotted Ringo for a starting gig this season.

So far this season Ringo has racked up eight tackles, four pass breakups and an interception.

The Scottsdale, Ari., native has made the most of his first opportunities as a Bulldog, while contributing to a Georgia defense that ranks first in the country in almost every major statistical category.

For UGA to continue to dominate and make a run at a national title, young stars like Ringo will have to continue to play beyond their experience.

Georgia will take on No. 11 Kentucky in Athens this Saturday.

Kirby Smart updates JT Daniels’ injury status

Georgia’s JT Daniels has missed the last two games with a lat injury…

No. 1 Georgia is at the top of college football without its starting quarterback. J.T. Daniels is still dealing with a lat injury that has held him out the last two games.

Backup Stetson Bennett has stepped in and played especially well in Daniels’ absence, but we expect Daniels to take over once he’s healthy.

Georgia coach Kirby Smart spoke on Daniels’ status during his Monday press conference.

“I’m not going to get into any hypotheticals. We are trying to get JT back. He was much improved this last week. For the game, he was able to throw a lot more than he was last week,” Smart said. “He’s going to throw again today, even though today will be a much lighter game than even our normal Mondays are. But we will look at seeing how he is and where he is, but I’m not getting into that.”

With the way the Georgia defense is playing, Smart and staff are not in a hurry to rush Daniels back and risk further injury. Bennett has done a good job of controlling the game and protecting the ball in Daniels’ place.

Bennett threw for 231 yards on 14 of 21 passes with two scores, along with six rushes for 41 yards on the ground in a 34-10 win over No. 18 Auburn.

With how Smart likes to keep decisions close to his chest prior to gametime, we likely won’t know who will get the start versus No. 11 Kentucky until kickoff on Saturday.

Twitter reacts to Georgia football’s lackluster win over Kentucky

The Georgia Bulldogs defeated the Kentucky Wildcats in a closer game than expected this Saturday.

The Georgia Bulldogs defeated the Kentucky Wildcats in what was quite a boring game. Both teams chewed the clock with run-dominant schemes. Kentucky seemed satisfied to take a 14-3 loss into the final minutes of the game. The Wildcats seldom ran any hurry-up offense despite trailing.

Kirby Smart and Georgia won behind a 100-yard game from Zamir White and a dominant defensive performance. Georgia’s defensive effort came at the price of several key injuries.

Quarterback Stetson Bennett and the Georgia passing game failed to pack a punch against a decent Kentucky secondary. Bennett was missing No. 1 wide receiver George Pickens, who has an upper body injury. Bennett turned the ball over twice in only 13 passing attempts. He additionally fumbled the ball on a run, but Georgia recovered it.

A performance like this will not be enough to beat the Florida Gators next week. Florida will not have much good film from the Georgia offense in the win over Kentucky as UGA ran a pretty vanilla scheme on offense.

How Georgia Twitter reacted to the win over Kentucky:

Georgia leaves Lexington with list of injuries headed into matchup with Florida

Georgia had several key injuries during Saturday’s game vs. Kentucky. Details and analysis here.

Georgia defeated Kentucky 14-3 in an ugly game in Lexington.

Star running back Zamir White was one of the bright spots from a mistake-ridden Georgia performance. He totaled 136 yards on 26 carries and a touchdown.

The Bulldogs passing game was nonexistent behind quarterback Stetson Bennett, he completed 9 of 13 passes for 137 yards and two costly interceptions on drives that would have likely yielded points.

Georgia kicker Jack Podlesney had his only field goal attempt botched by a bad snap and to top the mishaps off,  star safety Richard LeCounte dropped a potential pick-six.

All of these aspects can be improved, but what is concerning is the fact that Georgia’s defense suffered some critical injuries ahead of its huge matchup with Florida next week.

Just take a look at the injuries here:

  • DT Jordan Davis (undisclosed)
  • DT Julian Rochester (undisclosed)
  • LB Quay Walker (undisclosed)
  • DB D.J. Daniel (ankle/foot)
  • DB Lewis Cine (ankle/foot)

Plus mike linebacker Monte Rice missed some time but would later return to finish out the game.

Let’s hope these guys can recuperate and be ready for the Gators, but Jordan Davis was in a sling on the Georgia sideline, which definitely does not look good for his chances to be ready next week. Truly a big blow as Davis is one of the most critical pieces of this Bulldogs front.

On a positive note, guys like freshman defensive tackle Jalen Carter and defensive back Tyrique Stevenson showed some great promise when they more got chances to play among all of the injuries.

We know the Bulldogs’ defensive depth is among the best in the nation and it will be tested by Kyle Trask and a Florida offense averaging 40 points per game.
