The Georgia Bulldogs have extended a scholarship to another talented 2024 recruit, defensive lineman Artavius Jones. Jones plays high school football for Blountstown High School in Blountstown, Florida. Blountstown is located west of Tallahassee, Florida.
The 6-foot-3, 280-pound defensive lineman is ranked as the No. 174 player in the class of 2024. Jones is the No. 20 defensive line recruit and the No. 25 player in Florida, per 247Sports.
The big defensive lineman also participates in track and field and basketball. Jones has recent scholarship offers from Oklahoma, Mississippi State, Illinois and Florida State.
The versatile athlete plays offensive line, defensive line and tight end. He overwhelms his competition in high school. As an offensive lineman, he frequently takes defenders on a ride across the field and into the turf.
Jones has some very entertaining highlights on Hudl. If you like watching 6-foot-3, 280-pound tight ends taking jet sweeps, then you need to check out Jones’ highlights.

This offseason we are releasing episodes bi-weekly, including interviews with current and former Bulldogs along with other personalities from the college football world.
On a new episode, we breakdown UGA’s 2023 recruiting class surge, featuring five-star corner A.J. Harris, four-star linebacker C.J. Allen and one of the nation’s top kickers Peyton Woodring.
The Atlanta Falcons have placed former Georgia Bulldogs punter Cameron Nizialek on injured reserve. Nizialek made the Atlanta Falcons’ roster this season, but has had up and down performances.
The 26-year-old punter has punted 18 times for an average of 45.4 yards this season. Nizialek additionally handles kickoffs for Atlanta. He has a 40% touchback rate on kickoffs this season.
Cameron Nizialek suffered a right hamstring injury in week four against the Washington Football Team. Nizialek’s injury forced Younghoe Koo to attempt kickoffs. The Football Team burned the Falcons for a kickoff return touchdown in the contest.
In a corresponding move, Falcons punter Dustin Colquitt was promoted to the Atlanta’s 53-man roster. It is unclear who will handle kickoff duties.
Nizialek, who came to UGA as a graduate transfer from Columbia University, was Georgia’s punter during the 2017-18 season when the Bulldogs won the Rose Bowl and came one play away from capturing a National Championship.
Nizialek was the punter for the Atlanta Legends in 2019. The Legends were briefly a member of the now extinct Alliance of American Football.
In his one year with Georgia, he averaged 45.0 yards per punt on 61 total punts. 26 of his punts landed inside the 20-yard line. His career-best punt of 61 yards came in the Rose Bowl against Oklahoma. Nizialek has a long of 62 yards this season.
We wish Nizialek a speedy recovery. He can return in three weeks.
Former Georgia tight end Charlie Woerner is looking to have a bigger role for the San Francisco 49ers behind star tight end George Kittle
Former Georgia Bulldogs tight end Charlie Woerner had a fairly modest rookie season for the San Francisco 49ers in 2020. Woerner finished his rookie campaign with three catches for 36 yards.
Now, Woerner is looking to have a bigger role for the 49ers behind star tight end George Kittle. In preseason action, Woerner hauled in a 34-yard pass from 49ers rookie Trey Lance.
“Charlie (Woerner) is really emerging. We feel like he has some skills in the passing game.” Dawgs in the NFL showing out today. pic.twitter.com/dVJPlICYuU
Woerner is turning some heads in San Francisco and appears to be set to receive more playing time in passing situations. Woerner was primarily a blocker for the 49ers last season.
The San Francisco 49ers drafted Woerner with the 190th pick of the 2020 NFL draft. He appeared in 54 games in four years at Georgia and started 19 games. Woerner tallied 34 receptions for 376 yards and 1 touchdown in his collegiate career.
Woerner has been making plays throughout training camp and should make the 49ers final roster again. The NFL game seems to have slowed down for him some in Year 2.
Atlanta Falcons sign former Georgia Bulldog punter Cameron Nizialek
The Atlanta Falcons have once again signed former Georgia Bulldogs punter Cameron Nizialek. Nizialek signed a deal to join the Atlanta Falcons practice squad last September, but only spent three weeks with their practice squad.
The 26-year-old punter has also spent time in the NFL with the Baltimore Ravens but has not appeared in an NFL game.
To make room for the former University of Georgia punter, the Falcons have waived punter Sterling Hofrichter due to an injury.
The Falcons brought in Nizialek along with Colby Wadman of California-Davis and Matt Wile of Michigan for workouts earlier this week following Sterling Hofrichter’s injury. Atlanta elected to sign Nizialek, who will have an opportunity to showcase his talent to the Falcons and NFL for the preseason.
