Georgia vs UAB: Score, stats predictions

Score and stat predictions for UGA football players for today’s Georgia vs UAB game.

No. 2 Georgia takes on UAB today in its home-opener.

The Bulldogs are fresh off a 10-3 win over Clemson, and UAB over Jacksonville State.

UAB has had an 11 day break since its cupcake win over Jacksonville State compared to Georgia’s seven day break after an absolute slugfest against Clemson.

Georgia should obviously win this game, but I do expect it to be a little bit closer than most anticipate. UAB is legit – the Blazers have won its division three straight years and the CUSA title two out of those three years.

Georgia will likely be playing without quarterback JT Daniels, so the Dawgs will already be at a disadvantage.

With all that mind, here’s our score and stats predictions for the game:

Score: Georgia wins 41-3

OFFENSE:

QB Carson Beck stats — if he starts: 19/28, 242 yards, 3 TDs, 1 INT

QB Stetson Bennet stats — if he starts: 16/24, 234 yards, 2 TDs, 2 INTs

RB Zamir White: 14 carries, 112 yards, 1 TD

RB Kendall Milton: 11 carries, 79 yards, 1 TD

RB Kenny McIntosh: 7 carries, 41 yards

RB James Cook: 4 carries, 12 yards. 3 catches, 42 yards, 1 TD

WR Jermaine Burton: 6 catches, 77 yards, 2 TDs

TE Brock Bowers: 3 catches, 33 yards

Offensive MVP: Zamir White

DEFENSE:

Total sacks: 4

Interceptions: 2

DEFENSIVE MVP: Jordan Davis

Georgia football: How to watch, listen and stream UGA vs UAB

Georgia football is set to kick off versus UAB this Saturday in the home opener. DawgNation will be packed in to a full-capacity Sanford Stadium for the first time since 2019.

Here’s how to watch, stream and listen to Georgia versus UAB.

What UAB media is saying about Georgia

Here’s what UAB media is saying about Georgia ahead of Saturday’s matchup.

Georgia football is set to kick off against UAB this Saturday in the home opener. Gametime is set for 3:30 p.m. and DawgNation will be packed in to a full-capacity Sanford Stadium for the first time since 2019.

Here’s what UAB media is saying about Georgia.

5 reasons why Georgia beats UAB

UAB comes to Athens as defending Conference USA champions to take on a Georgia team coming off of a top-5 win in week one. Here’s 5 reasons why the Dawgs leave with the win.

Georgia football is set to kick off versus UAB this Saturday in the home opener. Gametime is set for 3:30 p.m. and Sanford Stadium will be packed full for the first time since the 2019 season.

UAB is coming off a 31-0 win over Jacksonville State . The 2020 Conference USA champions are led by senior quarterback Tyler Johnson, who was efficient in the season opener, completing 17 of 21 passes for 320 yards and two touchdowns.

On the other side, the Bulldogs are dealing with multiple injuries, including star quarterback J.T. Daniels, who is reportedly nursing a core injury. Redshirt freshman Carson Beck is the likely replacement incase Daniels isn’t able to go.

Georgia’s defense is more than capable of handling a bigger role and they proved that in week-one, allowing just two yards rushing, three points and seven sacks to a high-powered Clemson offense.

Here’s five reasons why Georgia secures a win on Saturday afternoon.

Georgia vs UAB: 5 reasons why Blazers could keep it close

Georgia vs UAB: 5 reasons why Blazers could keep it close

Georgia is the No. 2 ranked team in America after beating Clemson 10-3 in Charlotte last weekend.

The Georgia defense looked incredible on Saturday, holding the Tigers to just two rushing yards and recording seven sacks and a defensive touchdown on the night.

Offensively, there were some struggles. But it’s important to note that Clemson has the best defense Georgia will likely face all year. It’s also important to note that Georgia was not totally incapable of moving the ball like Clemson was. But there were some concerns.

Georgia now shifts its focus to UAB, its Week 2 opponent. That game is slated for 3:30 p.m. ET on ESPN2 from Athens.

The Blazers are fresh off a 31-0 win over Jacksonville State, a game they played on Wednesday Sept. 1.

Georgia will win this game, probably by a convincing margin. But here are a few reasons UAB might actually be able to keep things close on Saturday.

Georgia injury report ahead of UGA vs UAB

Multiple Bulldogs, including star QB JT Daniels are dealing with injuries ahead of Georgia’s home opener vs. UAB….

Georgia football is set to take on UAB in the 2021 home opener in Athens on Saturday afternoon. Kickoff is set for 3:30 p.m. but some Bulldogs won’t be taking the field.

UGA has battled injuries throughout fall camp and into the Clemson matchup last Saturday night. The story is no different in week-two, as star quarterback J.T. Daniels is now nursing an upper body injury that may keep him sidelined versus the Blazers.

Early reports suggest an oblique strain or some kind of core injury, although coach Kirby Smart has not yet confirmed. Redshirt freshman Carson Beck received a large number of first-team reps at practice on Tuesday.

The offensive line took a hit this week as starting right guard Tate Ratledge underwent foot surgery and will miss the remainder of the season due to an injury suffered against Clemson.

At receiver, the Bulldogs are still missing star Dominick Blaylock, who is recovering from an ACL tear suffered last year. Smart said Blaylock is close to 100%. Kearis Jackson, the leading pass catcher a year ago, only returned punts against Clemson and is still not fully recovered from knee surgery this summer.

Fellow wideout George Pickens is still rehabbing from an ACL tear suffered in the spring, and LSU transfer Arik Gilbert is still not with the team due to a personal issue.

Tight end Darnell Washington and defensive back Tykee Smith are working their way back from foot surgeries done just a few weeks ago. Smart did say the two were at least moving around, suggesting they should be back at some point this season.

Here’s an updated look at Georgia’s injury report ahead of the matchup with UAB.

Georgia Bulldogs versus UAB Blazers series history

The Georgia Bulldogs are undefeated in their brief history against the University of Alabama at Birmingham.

The Georgia Bulldogs are undefeated in their brief history against the University of Alabama at Birmingham. Georgia has faced the UAB Blazers twice.

Both meetings were in Athens. Georgia won in 2003 and 2006.

The Blazers nearly pulled off the upset in 2003, when they fell 16-13 to Georgia. David Greene and company helped Georgia get off to a good start against UAB, but the Blazers stayed in the game.

Georgia entered the game as the No. 4 team in the country. The Dawgs lost 16-13 to Florida the next week. Georgia still made the 2003 SEC Championship, but the Dawgs lost to LSU. Mark Richt and UGA finished 11-3.

In 2006, Georgia won 34-0 against UAB. In Georgia’s last meeting with the Blazers, quarterback Matthew Stafford debuted as UGA’s starting quarterback. Stafford and Kregg Lumpkin ran for touchdowns in Georgia’s shutout win.

Georgia started the 2006 season 5-0 before losing four of five games. The Dawgs then won three straight games to finish the season and build momentum for 2007. Georgia beat No. 5 Auburn, No. 16 Georgia Tech and No. 14 Virginia Tech to end the season 9-4.

UAB has an interesting recent history in football. The Blazers went 6-3 last season and won the Conference USA championship game over Marshall. UAB had four games cancelled in 2020 including its bowl game.

The Blazers’ football program was terminated after the 2014 season, but reinstated shortly thereafter. UAB returned to football in 2017 and the program has been healthier than ever.

UAB and Georgia have a game scheduled to be played at Georgia in 2023.
