The Badgers have never played in the Quick Lane Bowl, which is played every year at Ford Field in Detroit. However, they have faced off against the Rockets twice. Wisconsin matched up against Toledo in 1982 and 1989 at Camp Randall Stadium and was able to win won both games.

This week’s College Football Playoff teams remain the same with Georgia, Clemson, Ohio State and Alabama.

The Badgers will look to end their two-game losing streak on the road this weekend against Northwestern under interim head coach Jim Leonhard.

Ohio State vs. Toledo: preview and prediction

Toledo comes to town this Saturday for an in-state matchup. Could this be a trap game for Ohio State?

The Ohio State football team will be hosting its annual in-state rivalry game this week. This year brings the Toledo Rockets to town who are off to a hot start themselves.

The Rockets hold a perfect record thus far and have outscored their opponents 92-10 in just two games. Before you think the Buckeyes will be facing a juggernaut, understand those two wins came against FCS school Long Island University and lowly UMass. Not exactly the toughest of contests.

However, if week 2 of college football is any indication of how the season is going to go, Ryan Day and company had better be ready for anything. Ohio State hasn’t lost to an in-state opponent since all the way back in 1921 when Oberlin College beat the Bucks 7-6.

It’s safe to say the game has changed greatly in the last 100-plus years, but you can bet the Rockets will come to Columbus ready to give it everything they’ve got.

Former UGA football WR Matt Landers announces transfer destination

Former Georgia and Toledo football wide receiver Matt Landers has transferred for a second consecutive offseason.

Former Georgia Bulldogs wide receiver Matt Landers transferred to the Toledo Rockets football program after the 2020 college football season. Now, the Toledo receiver is on the move again. Landers is transferring back into the SEC to the Arkansas Razorbacks.

Matt Landers has three seasons of college football experience. He caught 20 passes for 514 yards and scored five touchdowns last season for Toledo.

Landers, a former three-star recruit, will have two seasons of eligibility remaining. He is an excellent blocker and should have a fairly large role for Arkansas.

The 6-foot-5, 200-pound receiver caught 12 passes for 132 yards and a touchdown during his two season career with the Georgia Bulldogs.

Landers, who was Toledo’s third-leading receiver last season, announced his transfer to the Razorbacks via his Twitter account:

Former Georgia football WR picks transfer destination

Former Georgia Bulldogs wide receiver Matt Landers entered the NCAA transfer portal following the 2020 season. Now, he’s headed to Toledo.

Former Georgia Bulldogs wide receiver Matt Landers entered the NCAA transfer portal following the 2020 season. Now, the St. Petersburg High School product is transferring to the Toledo Rockets football program.

Matt Landers will join Toledo as a member of the junior class. He will be immediately eligible for the Rockets. We wish him luck as he looks for a larger role with his new team.

Landers came to Athens, Georgia, as a three-star recruit. He is an excellent blocker. Improved consistency would go a long way for Landers. He played in nine regular season games during the 2020 season, but ultimately he fell belowGeorge Pickens, Kearis Jackson, Arian Smith, Jermaine Burton, and Demetris Robertson on the wide receiver depth chart at Georgia.

Matt Landers will be a mid-year enrollee for the Toledo Rockets. Toledo announced the move via their official Twitter account:

No one knows what’s going to happen to the 2020 college football season. We’ll take a general look at where each team stands – doing it without spring ball to go by – while crossing our fingers that we’ll all have some well-deserved fun this fall. Hoping you and yours are safe and healthy.

5. College Football News Preview 2020: Toledo Rockets Offense 3 Things To Know

The 2016 Toledo offense ripped off over 6,700 yards. The 2017 attack flirted with 7,000 yards. 2018 was a down year with 5,770 yards and without the same pop, and then came 2019.

5,209 yards.

The Toledo O wasn’t all that bad by most standards – especially with the MAC’s second-best running game – but the passing attack wasn’t consistent or efficient enough, and the scoring wasn’t always there.

Two years ago, Toledo cranked up 525 points, scoring 24 or more in every game but two. Last year’s offense came up with 327 points and failed to get more than 14 in three of the last seven. With eight starters returning, there’s hope to be a whole lot better.

– Senior Eli Peters will still have to push for the job, but he has the inside track after getting work in half the season with 828 passing yards with six scores and three picks. Sophomore Carter Bradley is a bit of a bigger option, and a slew of underclassmen will get their shot.

The receivers are there to make the passing game a whole lot stronger. Senior Bryce Miller averaged over 19 yards per catch with a team-high 679 yards, and speedy Danzel McKinley-Lewis tied for the team lead with 36 grabs, averaging over 17 yards per catch. 6-4, 240-pound senior Drew Rosi is a nice tight end who can do a lot more than 18 catches.

The running game was strong. Bryant Koback led the way with 1,187 yards with 12 scores – averaging over six yards per carry – and 215-pound senior Shakif Seymour is back as a strong No. 2 back in the rotation.

Four starters are back on the offensive front after a rough year in pass protection, but they’ll once again be great for the ground game. Sophomore guard Nick Rosi is the best of the bunch, but the line should be a strength.
