2024 EDGE TJ Capers lists Alabama as a finalist in his recruitment

2024 edge rusher TJ Capers received an offer from Alabama in May. He recently released his top-12 and listed the Tide as a finalist.

Recently, 2024 edge rusher TJ Capers released his top twelve schools. One of the schools that were listed was Alabama.

This comes a little over six months after the Tide extended an offer to Capers. The Miami native plays edge rusher for Columbus High School. He also plays basketball as well as competes in track and field for the school.

During his sophomore season, he tallied 52 tackles, two sacks, and two forced fumbles. Stats from this past season have not been posted at this time.

According to On3’s RPM, Miami is the favorite to land Capers at 27.5% likelihood. There is still plenty of time for the Tide to make a strong push. The Alabama coaching staff has done a good job of recruiting the Miami area over the years. Alabama defensive backs coach Travaris Robinson is also from the area and has been a legitimate recruiter in the area for quite some time.

LSU makes the top 12 for 5-star linebacker in 2024 class

Capers is a five-star recruit, and the Miami prospect is the No. 1 linebacker in 2024. He included LSU in a blue-blood-heavy top-12.

The No. 1 linebacker in the country for the class of 2024 in [autotag]TJ Capers[/autotag] has narrowed down his list of schools to 12, and the LSU Tigers have made the cut.

The Tigers join Penn State, Miami, Texas A&M, Georgia, Michigan, Louisville, USC, Alabama, Tennessee, Ohio State and Michigan State.

Capers plays for the Columbus Explorers in Miami, Florida. The Explorers are 13-1 this season and will play Apopka for the FHSAA 4 M state championship next Saturday. LSU landed one of the best linebackers in the country last season when they signed [autotag]Harold Perkins Jr.[/autotag]

That signing has paid dividends this season. Capers is that kind of guy.

Currently, he has no Crystal Ball projections, and there is no clear favorite to land him per on3. As the early signing period nears for the 2023 recruiting class, expect the class of 2024’s recruitment to heat up significantly.

LSU is preparing for their bowl game as they play Purdue in the Citrus Bowl on January 2nd.

Report: Class of 2024’s top-ranked EDGE set to visit Florida for Utah game

TJ Capers, a five-star edge rusher from Columbus High in Miami, has been to the University of Florida before, but never on a game day. That will change on Saturday when the Gators take on the Utah Utes with Capers in attendance.

The latest addition to Florida’s star-studded visitor list for the season opener against Utah is five-star edge rusher [autotag]TJ Capers[/autotag], according to 247Sports’ Andrew Ivins.

The Columbus High (Miami) product has been to the University of Florida before, but not since Billy Napier took over. This will also be his first game day at UF. The new staff has already re-offered him, according to Gators Online, and is trending on the On3 recruiting prediction machine as a 39.0% favorite to land Capers.

Louisville, Miami and Michigan State are the other three programs that have hosted Capers so far on visits, but he’s picked up offers from most of the top teams in the country as one of the nation’s top-ranked recruits. The 247Sports composite ranks him No. 6 overall in the class of 2024 and No. 1 among edge rushers.

Interestingly, On3 has him ranked in the same spots on their equally weighted consensus rankings, but he lacks the five-star designation. As a sophomore, Capers finished with 53 tackles, two sacks and two forced fumbles. Perhaps another strong year will earn him that fifth star from On3.

Capers joins 2023 cornerback [autotag]Cormani McClain[/autotag] and 2024 cornerback [autotag]Charles Lester III[/autotag] as the players with a five-star designation set to visit the Swamp this weekend. IMG Academy’s [autotag]Desmond Ricks[/autotag] was supposed to be part of that list, but he likely won’t make it with a game rescheduled to that date.

Film Analysis: Capers is ranked as the No. 1 linebacker for the class of 2024 for a reason. When he is on the field, he makes his presence known. Capers has one speed and it’s high speed. He’ll even hit the afterburner if he has to.

He displays his speed coming off the edge and rushing the quarterback as well as pursuing the ball in open space. It also comes in handy when he’s matched up one-on-one with a running back or a tight end in coverage. There is going to be a recruiting war over this kid.
