Texas reenters USA TODAY AFCA Coaches Poll after TCU win

Back in the top 25!

Steve Sarkisian faced his first test against Gary Patterson and found a way to get out of Fort Worth with a win against TCU.

Actually, Bijan Robinson found a way to get a win against TCU. An unreal performance from the sophomore, he finished with 216 yards and two touchdowns on 35 carries. Leaning on the running back has been Sarkisian’s game plan so far this season.

With the win, Texas was able to climb back into the USA TODAY Sports AFCA Coaches Poll at No. 23. Oklahoma is the highest-ranked Big 12 team in the poll, dropping one spot to No. 5, while Oklahoma State skyrocketed to No. 12.

Looking at the in-state rival, Texas A&M dropped out after losing back-to-back games against Arkansas and Mississippi State. Losing starting quarterback Hayes King has been detrimental to their offense. They host No. 1 Alabama in College Station next week.

WATCH: Bijan Robinson eclipses 200 rushing yards, ices game for Texas

An absolutely special performance putting the term “don’t care, got Bijan” to use.

Greatness is truly in front of us with Bijan Robinson. When he arrived on campus last season, the former five-star was being dubbed the next great running back to come out of Austin. Dividends are already being paid.

Two career highs were set by Robinson on Saturday afternoon. He finished with 35 carries and 216 yards against TCU. An absolutely special performance putting the term “don’t care, got Bijan” to use.

One of his final touches was the best of the bunch.

On 3rd and 6, up five, Texas needed a first down to keep the ball out of TCU’s hands. A defender first made contact with Robinson at the line of scrimmage. Somehow, someway he got the first down after making a few more Horned Frogs miss.

Robinson’s run not only got him over 200 yards but more importantly, put the game on ice for Texas. The weight of the world has been lifted, finally getting over the puzzling TCU hump.

You can watch the run here:

“I’d much rather win ugly than lose pretty,” Sarkisian said after the game. The win puts Texas at 4-1 and heading into Red River with a good amount of momentum. You can expect a healthy dose of Robinson against the Sooners as well.

We will forever wonder why Tom Herman did not use Robinson more throughout his freshman season. He may still have a job if No. 5 is getting more touches.

Sarkisian knows who his best offensive player is.

Studs and Duds from Texas’ Week 5 win over TCU

Studs and Duds from Texas’ win over TCU.

Texas was able to beat TCU and end what would have been a three game win streak for the Horned Frogs.

While it was not the prettiest game for either team due to numerous penalties, turnovers, and missed throws, the Longhorns finally were able to conquer their demons from Dallas and beat TCU 32-27.

Texas’ game plan was simple today, put the ball in the hands of running back Bijan Robinson and let him go to work. He accounted for a career high in carries, and was a constant thorn in the side of the TCU defense who was having their way when it came to controlling the passing game.

The Longhorns were finally on the other side of an ugly win, as it seemed during the Tom Herman era, this game would have been a guaranteed loss.

Texas was able to overcome TCU’s Zach Evans, who was outdueled by Robinson, but more importantly they were able to overcome four drives that saw them leave TCU’s red zone with a field goal rather than a touchdown.

While some players stood out for the Longhorns, others did not perform as well as we have been accustomed to, which means it is time to pinpoint who were the studs and duds in the victory of TCU.

WATCH: Texas releases hype video for TCU game

Hype video for Saturday’s matchup vs TCU!

After a thumping of Texas Tech, expectations are once again sky high in Austin. Now, all attention has been focused to Fort Worth for a matchup against TCU.

The Texas Football Twitter account has released a hype video, hoping the team can overcome a 2-7 record vs the Horned Frogs since they joined the conference in 2012.

Early on in the video, Texas’ social media team shows off the icy white jerseys the Longhorns will once again wear on the road. It has been a classic look for the university for quite some time now.

Steve Sarkisian is quoted in the video saying “one game doesn’t win you a Big 12 conference championship.” Seeing the “all gas, no brakes” mentality morphed into a video should hype up Longhorn fans across the country.

A win against TCU would do the first-year head coach well, but more work will be in front of Texas. You can watch the full hype video here:

TCU has been the bogey team in Austin over the past few years, with Sarkisian looking to break the duck. A win would bring momentum heading into the Red River Shootout against Oklahoma next week.

Getting the offense going, on the road, will make or break the Texas team.

Five bold predictions for Texas’ Week 5 game against TCU

Time to be BOLD!

The Longhorns have picked up momentum after dropping a 70-burger on Texas Tech last week, but they will have to show up in a big way in order to beat TCU in Week 5.

It seems as if whenever Texas plays a great game one week, they have major issues of replicating the success the following week. If the Longhorns can string together a good performance against TCU, they would have three consecutive wins under their belt and it will likely have them jump back into the AP Top 25.

This game is a test of how much the team has improved as a whole, but also how far the new culture under Steve Sarkisian has come. TCU has dominated the Longhorns as of late, winning seven of the last nine matchups. The Horned Frogs are also coming off a very heated loss to SMU that has Gary Patterson fuming over a flag planting injury and the rights to his song.

If Texas comes in and performs as well they have been on offense, while being able to contain Max Duggan and Zach Evans on defense, this game could be the end of TCU’s win streak over Texas.

Last week’s bold predictions were a raging success, let’s see if I can keep my hot streak alive.
