Texas may make coaching changes as soon as this weekend

Texas has had a disappointing season and that may come at a cost to some coaches. Texas is expected to make some changes to the staff soon.

This season has been a disappointing one for the Longhorns, currently sitting at 6-5. While much more was expected of this team, it has failed to produce victories, let alone compete for a conference championship. Because of that, some changes may be made after the season finale.

According to Anwar Richardson of OrangeBloods.com, Texas could be making changes to the coaching staff as early as this weekend, no matter what happens in Friday’s game against Texas Tech.

While it seems like Head Coach Tom Herman is safe, members of his staff are in danger. Offensive coordinator Tim Beck and defensive coordinator Todd Orlando have taken a lot of heat the past few weeks for the Longhorns’ performances.

While both coaches have stated that they are not worried about their future, their time may be coming to an end in Austin.

With the regular season ending on Friday, Texas must figure out their coaching situation as soon as possible. Since the early signing day for recruiting is on Dec. 18, Texas must have it all worked out by then.

First and foremost, Texas must focus on Texas Tech to finish their season out on a positive note. They will face the Red Raiders at 11:00 a.m. CST on Fox.

Texas Tech at Texas odds, picks and best bets

Previewing Friday’s Texas Tech Red Raiders at Texas Longhorns college football matchup, with NCAA football betting odds, picks and best bets

The Texas Tech Red Raiders (4-7, 2-6 Big 12) tangle with the Texas Longhorns (6-5, 4-4) Friday at the Darrell K. Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium in Austin at noon ET. We analyze the Texas Tech-Texas odds and betting lines, while providing college football betting tips and advice on this matchup.

Texas Tech at Texas: Three things you need to know

1. The Longhorns topped the Red Raiders in Lubbock 41-34 last year, with QB Sam Ehlinger passing for 312 yards and four touchdowns, including two scoring strikes to WR Devin Duvernay.

2. Texas Tech can’t get enough wins to go “bowling,” while Texas has already gained postseason eligibility. Though with a win, the Red Raiders can drop the Longhorns to 6-6 and cost their instate rival a decent bowl bid and money.

3. Texas Tech is doing its thing offensively, ranking 14th in total yards (474.0 YPG) and 10th in passing yards (316.7 YPG), but it’s 121st in total yards allowed (468.9 YPG) and 126th in passing yards allowed (304.0 YPG). The Red Raiders’ lack of defense is a major reason their season ends Friday.

Texas Tech at Texas: Odds, betting lines and picks

Odds via BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports’ betting odds for a full list. Lines last updated Thursday at 12:25 a.m. ET.

Prediction

Texas 41, Texas Tech 30

Moneyline (ML)

Texas (-334) is too expensive on the moneyline, and the way the Longhorns have played down the stretch, they’re not a certainty to win outright even against a non-bowl team. Texas Tech (+260) is tempting, but it’s not going into DKR and coming away with a win.

New to sports betting? Every $10 wagered that Texas wins outright will return a profit of $2.99 (10 divided by 3.34).

Against the Spread (ATS)

TEXAS (-9.5, -121) is the play here, but I’d go very lightly. The Longhorns have one of the best pass-catch combos in the Big 12 with Ehlinger and Duvernay, and they will light it up against the defensively challenged Texas Tech (+9.5, +100) pass D.

Over/Under (O/U)

OVER (64.5, -106) is the best wager in this rivalry game. The offense has been powerful for both sides, and the defense hasn’t been terribly resistant. Look for plenty of points on both sides before the dust clears.

Kansas State at Texas Tech odds, picks and best bets

Previewing Saturday’s Kansas State Wildcats at Texas Tech Red Raiders sports betting odds and lines, with college football picks and bets.

The Kansas State Wildcats (6-4, 3-4, Big 12) and Texas Tech Red Raiders (4-6, 2-5) square off Saturday at 7 p.m. ET. As the Red Raiders try to keep their flickering bowl hopes alive, K-State is already qualified for the postseason but looks to improve its standing and potential payout. We analyze the Kansas State-Texas Tech odds and betting lines, while providing college football betting tips and advice on this matchup.

Kansas State at Texas Tech: Three things you need to know

1. The Wildcats have covered the spread in seven of 10 games overall, and they’re 4-1 ATS across the past five. They fell 24-20 at West Virginia last week for their first non-cover since Oct. 5.

2. K-State leading rusher RB James Gilbert (ankle) is listed as questionable due to an ankle ailment. He has a team-high 618 yards and six scores. If he cannot go, RBs Jordon Brown (53-264-3) and Harry Trotter (64-258-3) are next men up.

3. Kansas State ranks 29th in the nation against the pass (198.7 yards per game) and 33rd in points allowed (21.4), while Texas Tech is 14th nationally with 311.6 passing yards per game and 49th in the country with 31.5 points per game.

Kansas State at Texas Tech: Odds, betting lines and picks

Odds via BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports’ betting odds for a full list. Lines last updated Friday at 8:55 p.m. ET.

Prediction

Kansas State 34, Texas Tech 29

Moneyline (ML)

With or without Gilbert, KANSAS STATE (+110) has enough depth to get it done on the road. Plus, Texas Tech (-134) has suspended WR T.J. Vasher (37-473-6) for this battle. He leads the team in touchdown receptions. WR Dalton Rigdon (33-469-5) is second in TD grabs, but he could also sit due to a concussion. Officially, he is questionable.

New to sports betting? A $10 wager on Kansas State to win would return a profit of $11.10.

Against the Spread (ATS)

KANSAS STATE (+2.5, -110) is worth a look with the points, if you’re feeling like it will be a close game. But really, K-State is a much better play on the moneyline since you’ll catch plus-money. I don’t recommend them, but Texas Tech (-2.5, -110) is the play for those who like the Red Raiders to win rather than playing the ML.

Over/Under (O/U)

OVER 55.5 (-110) is the way to go in this one, although I am struggling to figure who will score for TTU with Vasher out and Rigdon possibly joining him on the shelf. Still, the Over is 9-2 in the past 11 meetings in this series and a perfect 6-0 in the past six home battles for Texas Tech, so there’s that.

TCU at Texas Tech odds: Red Raiders short dogs at home

Previewing Saturday’s TCU at Texas Tech college football matchup, with college football betting odds, picks and best bets

[jwplayer 64hUO9C8]

The Texas Christian Horned Frogs (4-5, 2-4 Big 12) and Texas Tech Red Raiders (4-5, 2-4) do battle at Jones AT&T Stadium in Lubbock, Texas, at noon ET Saturday in an elimination game of sorts.

We analyze the TCU-Texas Tech odds and betting lines, while providing college football betting tips and advice on this matchup.

TCU at Texas Tech: Three things you need to know

1. With a game at Oklahoma still on the schedule, TCU can ill-afford a sixth loss in this one if its wants to attain bowl eligibility. The Horned Frogs are coming off a demoralizing 29-23 loss in triple-overtime last week at home to unbeaten Baylor.

2. Texas Tech is in the same boat, as the Red Raiders cannot afford a loss in this one with Kansas State and Texas remaining on the schedule. If they want to go bowling, a win Saturday is imperative.

3. TCU is 2-5 against the spread in the past seven meetings, while going 1-4 ATS in the past five trips to Lubbock.

TCU at Texas Tech: Odds, betting lines and picks

Odds via BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports’ betting odds for a full list. Lines last updated Thursday at 2:30 p.m. ET.

Prediction

TCU 34, Texas Tech 29

Moneyline (ML)

TCU (-159) nearly dealt Baylor the Bears’ first loss last week, but Baylor forced overtime with a long field in the final minute of regulation. The Horned Frogs then blew it defensively and are in a tough spot heading into this one. Despite some terrible luck against the number against Texas Tech (+130), look to the Horned Frogs to win this one outright.

New to sports betting? A $10 wager on Iowa State to win would return a profit of $6.30.

Against the Spread (ATS)

TCU (-2.5, -134) hits the road looking to turn things around against the number in this series. The Horned Frogs are also just 2-6 ATS in the past eight road games, and 1-4 ATS in the past five inside the Big 12. While Texas Tech is 3-1-1 ATS in the past five, and 3-0-1 ATS in the past four at home, Texas Tech’s awful defense will be the difference here. The Red Raiders rank 121st in total yards allowed (470.3) and 127th in passing yards given up (308.6).

Over/Under (O/U)

The OVER (56.5, -110) is the worth a look. TCU struggled offensively last week, at least in regulation, before a bad-beat over connected. The Horned Frogs should find a lot more room to operate in Lubbock. The over is 6-1 in the past seven for TCU, and 6-1 in the school’s past seven conference games, too. The over is 4-1-1 in Texas Tech’s past six overall, too.
