WATCH: Devin Duvernay returns opening kickoff 103 yards for a touchdown

Devin Duvernay is a playmaker.

Devin Duvernay is wasting no time making an impact for the Baltimore Ravens this season. After catching two touchdowns in the season opener last week, Duvernay took a kickoff 103 yards for a touchdown to start Sunday’s game.

The former Texas wide receiver took just 13 seconds to give his Ravens a 7-0 lead over Miami early on.

This marks Duvernay’s second career kick return for a touchdown. He had a 93-yard house call against Kansas City in his rookie year. Teams are going to start thinking twice about kicking the ball to Duvernay.

Baltimore is finding more and more ways to get Duvernay involved in their offense. He is setting himself up for a potential breakout season at the NFL level. Lamar Jackson is getting comfortable with Duvernay as one of his go-to targets.

Week 1 highlights from former Longhorns in the NFL

Former Longhorns balled out in Week 1 of the NFL season.

The 2022 NFL season is officially off and running. Week 1 wrapped up Monday night after an exciting opening slate of games.

Many former Longhorns had successful starts to the new year.

Baltimore Ravens wide receiver Devin Duvernay looks to be one of Lamar Jackson’s favorite targets thus far. Duvernay hauled in two touchdowns in the dominant win over the Jets.

Miami Dolphins safety Brandon Jones was all over the field against the Patriots on Sunday. Jones tallied 11 tackles, one forced fumble and one sack in the victory.

His teammate Connor Williams performed great on the offensive side of the ball as well. Williams graded out as the best offensive player on the field for Miami.

Linebacker Jordan Hicks showed out in his Vikings debut. He picked up a team-high 14 tackles and a sack in Minnesota’s huge win over Green Bay. Hicks helped shut down Aaron Rodgers to just seven points in the ballgame.

Denver Broncos tight end Andrew Beck channeled his best Odell Beckam Jr. impression on Monday Night Football. He made an incredible one-handed snag early in the game against Seattle.

Sam Ehlinger continues to impress in the NFL preseason

Sam Ehlinger is putting together a fantastic preseason.

Indianapolis Colts quarterback Sam Ehlinger is putting together a fantastic presason so far.

Ehlinger followed his excellent performance last week against the Buffalo Bills with another great outing on Saturday. He carved up the Detroit Lions’ secondary for 136 yards and two touchdowns. Ehlinger completed nine of 11 passes for a 157.8 quarterback rating.

Ehlinger found wide receiver Micheal Strachan in the corner of the end zone from 15 yards out for his first touchdown of the day.

Ehlinger continued his quality play in the second half. The former Texas Longhorn showcased his escapability and play-making on this touchdown toss, giving the Colts the lead in the third quarter.

Ehlinger is making his case for a spot on the Colts’ 53-man roster when the season starts on Sept. 11. Here is a look at Ehlinger’s impressive stat line in his two preseason appearances.

Sam Ehlinger put together a great showing in the Colts’ preseason opener against the Bills.

Sam Ehlinger’s second season in the NFL is off to a good start.

The former Texas quarterback put together a great showing in the Colts’ preseason opener against the Bills. Ehlinger completed 10 of 11 passes for 88 yards and two scores. He added 24 yards on the ground, using his feet to convert a few key first downs.

Ehlinger showed his ability to extend plays and find open receivers downfield. He rolled out to his right and threw a strike to Jelani Woods for his first touchdown of the game.

No. 11 struck again in the fourth quarter on a similar play in the red zone. A 12-yard touchdown pass from Ehlinger put the Colts up 23-10.

Ehlinger sits third in the Colts’ quarterback room behind proven veterans Matt Ryan and Nick Foles. Foles has been impressed with Ehlinger’s play during training camp.

Humphrey was one of the best players on the field in the Patriots’ preseason opener against the New York Giants on Thursday.

He snagged six passes for 62 yards and a touchdown to give the Pats a late fourth-quarter lead. A great showing for Humphrey, who is looking to secure a spot on the New England roster.

Fellow former Longhorn wide receiver Collin Johnson also stood out in the game. Johnson finished with seven catches for 82 yards as the Giants took down the Patriots 23-21 on a last-second field goal.

Humphrey and Johnson were a dynamic duo for the Longhorns in 2018. The two combined for over 2,000 yards and 18 touchdowns helping lead Texas to its best season since 2010.

Former Longhorn Kody Clemens to make his MLB debut

Former Texas star Kody Clemens is off to the big leagues.

The Detroit Tigers have called up former Texas baseball star infielder Kody Clemens.

Clemens brings a powerful left-handed bat to the Detriot lineup. He hit .256 with 26 home runs in the last two seasons with the Tigers’ Triple-A affiliate in Toledo.

The 26-year-old provides versatility on the defensive side of the ball. Clemens can play second base, third base and both corner outfield positions.

Clemens was selected in the third round of the 2018 MLB Draft after an All-American junior season at Texas.

He led the 2018 Longhorns to a Big 12 Championship and College World Series appearance while hitting .351 with 24 home runs. Clemens was named Big 12 player of the year and a Golden Spikes Award finalist.

Clemens joins right-headed pitcher Bryce Elder as Texas exes to get the call to the big leagues this season.

The Tigers will host the Minnesota Twins on Monday afternoon for Clemens’ Major League debut.

Former Longhorn DeShon Elliott inks a one-year deal with the Detroit Lions

Former Texas Longhorns and Baltimore Ravens safety Deshon Elliot is taking his talents to Detriot. 

Former Texas Longhorns and Baltimore Ravens safety Deshon Elliot is signing a one-year contract with the Detriot Lions.

The three-year veteran has flashed significant upside during limited playing time since entering the league in 2018. Injuries have hindered Elliot’s playing time and development over the past couple of seasons.

Elliot brings excellent versatility to the Lions’ secondary as he can help out in the box or in coverage. The 6-foot-1, 215-pounder has racked up 109 tackles and seven pass breakups in 28 games played.

The deal will give the 24-year-old an opportunity to prove himself on the field a long-term deal in the future.

Elliot turned in a unanimous first-team All-American season for the Longhorns in 2017. He tallied 63 total tackles including 8.5 TFLs while grabbing six interceptions. He was named a finalist for the Jim Thorpe award before declaring early for the 2018 NFL Draft.
