Four-star receiver Talyn Taylor announces commitment decision

The Georgia Bulldogs are red hot in recruiting this June. Four-star receiver Talyn Taylor just announced his commitment

The Georgia Bulldogs have seen recruiting heat up thus far through the month of June, and another major target for Coach Kirby Smart announced his official decision on Tuesday night. Talyn Taylor, a four-star wide receiver in the class of 2025, committed to Georgia over Ohio State and Notre Dame less than two weeks after taking an official visit to Athens.

Taylor is listed at 6-foot-1, 173 pounds. He is originally from Geneva, Illinois, where he recorded 801 yards and eight touchdowns in 2022 for Geneva Community High School. His body control, jump ball ability, and elusiveness have been heavily praised, contributing to his rating as the fourth best player in the state of Illinois in the 2025 class.

When asked about why he chose the Bulldogs, Taylor said, “Coach Smart, in my eyes, is the next Nick Saban. He’s a great coach. He has a great future at the University of Georgia.” He also heaped praise on wide receivers coach James Coley, brought in by the Bulldogs in February to replace Bryan McClendon.

With the addition of Taylor, the Bulldogs now have 13 commitments in the class of 2025 and have moved to third and fourth place in the On3 and 247Sports recruiting rankings respectively. Taylor is the Bulldogs’ second wide receiver commit, joining three-star Thomas Blackshear.

Ohio State football in top three for Illinois 2025 wide receiver

The Buckeyes are in a good spot with the Illinois receiver

There is no lack of wide receiver recruiting for Ohio State football, and it could be adding another big-time prospect to its 2025 recruiting class.

Illinois wide receiver, [autotag]Talyn Taylor[/autotag], announced his top three schools and included Ohio State along with Notre Dame and Georgia, as the teams he will most likely commit to sometime this summer.

Taylor comes from an extremely athletic family, as his father Tavien played at Iowa and was Big Ten Co-Offensive Player of the Year in 1997 before an NFL career while his mother Venus was a professional softball player.

It’s not at all surprising to see their offspring be an elite athlete with Talyn ranking as the No. 112 overall player and 13th best wide receiver in the country according to the 247Sports Composite Rankings.

At this moment, Ohio State currently has one commit, De’zie Jones, in the class.

Notre Dame one of three schools that Illinois 2025 receiver will commit to

The Irish could lure yet another elite Illinois prospect to South Bend

There is not much room for Notre Dame football to add to its 2025 recruiting class, but they will make some space for certain prospects.

One of those is Illinois wide receiver [autotag]Talyn Taylor[/autotag], who is one record saying that he will most likely commit to one of three schools: Ohio State, Georgia or the Irish. At 6-foot, 1-inch and 173-pounds, the pass catcher is one of the nations best, ranking as the No. 112 overall prospect and 13th receiver according to the 247Sports Composite Rankings.

An official visit to South Bend is set up for next month, Notre Dame sandwiched between his two other finalists.

Currently, Notre Dame has three commits at the position: Elijah Burress, Shaun Terry and Jerome Bettis Jr. Taylor would be the highest ranked of the group if he were to ultimately choose the Irish.

UGA football projected to land commitment from 4-star WR

The Georgia Bulldogs are projected to add a commitment from the fourth-best recruit in Illinois

The Georgia Bulldogs are projected to add a commitment from four-star wide receiver recruit Talyn Taylor. Taylor, who is a member of the class of 2025, plays high school football for Geneva Community High School in Geneva, Illinois.

Steve Wiltfong of On3 projects that Taylor will commit to the Bulldogs. Taylor is ranked as the No. 109 recruit in the country and the No. 13 wide receiver. The 6-foot-2, 175-pound receiver is the fourth-ranked prospect in Illinois, per 247Sports.

In 2022, Taylor recorded 801 receiving yards and eight touchdowns. Taylor displays excellent body control and is capable of winning jump balls.

The four-star has recently visited Georgia and Ohio State. The Geneva Community standout has upcoming visits scheduled with Michigan (April 7) and Notre Dame (April 6). Georgia and head coach Kirby Smart are still looking for their first wide receiver commitment in the class of 2025.

Georgia football currently has the No. 16 recruiting class in the country with five total commitments.

Ohio State football to host 2025 Illinois wide receiver later this month

The Buckeyes won’t give up in the Land of Lincoln

The list of recruiting visitors continues to grow by the day for the Ohio State football program, and on Sunday you can add another name.

Illinois wide receiver [autotag]Talyn Taylor[/autotag] has set up four visits this spring, with Columbus one of the destinations. The 6-foot and 165-pound pass catcher is ranked as the No. 13 receiver and 110th overall prospect by the 247Sports Composite Rankings.

Taylor will start his spring school tours by stopping at Georgia, then Ohio State, followed by Notre Dame and Michigan. Unfortunately, the Buckeyes have not had the best recruiting luck when it comes to prospects from Illinois, as they have missed Justin Scott, Marquise Lightfoot and Chris Burgess Jr. in the last few cycles.

Ohio State will look to change that with Taylor, as they look to impress the slot receiver during his visit.

Top 2025 WR target sets spring Michigan football visit

Gotta make a strong impression! #GoBlue

One position that Michigan football has recruited pretty well in recent years is wide receiver. However, the issue hasn’t been getting guys to campus as much as it has been retaining them — whether it be at the position or at the school, as it were.

The Wolverines have brought in some talented wideouts, but several have left in recent years. Amorion Walker (who had converted to cornerback) and Darrius Clemons — both in the 2022 class — departed via the transfer portal. Xavier Worthy had signed but ended up being released from his letter of intent and went on to star at Texas. In 2019, U-M brought in Mike Sainristil and he was promising at wideout, but made the historic switch to nickel back in 2022, and became perhaps Michigan’s most impactful player on that side of the ball since Charles Woodson.

A new name is considering the maize and blue and will make it to campus in April, according to 247Sports’ Allen Trieu — but the Wolverines will have some strong competition. According to Trieu, Talyn Taylor — a four-star wideout from Geneva (Ill.) Community — will visit Michigan football on April 7.

A 2025 prospect, Taylor is the No. 110 player in the country per the 247Sports Composite. Michigan won’t have sole access to him that weekend, as he will visit Notre Dame on Saturday before coming to Ann Arbor on Sunday. Of course, he visits Georgia two weeks prior and Ohio State the following week.

Taylor has offers from other big-time schools such as Alabama, Miami (Fla.), Tennessee, and USC.
