Where does Texas A&M stand in the race for 2025 5-star ATH Jonah Williams?

2025 5-star safety Jonah Williams has received a prediction to land with Texas

The race to land a commitment from one of the top defensive prospects in the 2025 recruiting class will end on Saturday, August 24th, as 5-star athlete/safety Jonah Williams will choose between USC, Texas, Oregon, LSU, and Texas A&M after a long summer of visits.

For those “in the know,” Williams’ trajectory has changed throughout the month. Still, after taking a late unofficial visit to the Texas Longhorns on July 25, On3 recruiting analyst Steve Wiltfong has predicted that Williams will land in Austin, Texas, as the rumored momentum from the 40 acres may come to fruition.

However, Williams took to X with an interesting comment regarding Wiltfong’s prediction, stating, “Yay, more predictions..” which could be something or nothing, but this does not mean that Texas A&M is out of the picture before Saturday’s announcement, as Mike Elko has continued to keep in contact with Williams this month.

247Sports recruiting analyst Mike Roach also feels that Texas is slightly in the lead but finished out his recent article with a reminder that Texas A&M head coach Mike Elko and his staff should, in no way, be counted out. However, placing LSU in the mix, three programs are coming down to the wire.

“As of this moment, our best intel leads us to a head-to-head duel between Texas and LSU, with Texas A&M still lurking as a presence.”

Jonah Williams recorded 474 receiving yards and eight touchdowns, 58 tackles, four interceptions (three returned for touchdowns), four tackles for loss, and four punt return touchdowns on special teams during his 2023 junior season.

According to 247Sports, Williams is currently positioned as the 7th-ranked prospect in the 2025 recruiting class, the No. 1-ranked linebacker prospect, and the 3rd-ranked prospect in Texas.

Consensus 2025 five-star OT Michael Fasusi picks Oklahoma Sooners

Oklahoma earns a commitment from 2025 five-star offensive tackle Michael Fasusi.

Oklahoma has its big fish for the [autotag]2025 recruiting class[/autotag].

Since Brent Venables took over, five-star prospects [autotag]Jackson Arnold[/autotag], [autotag]Adepoju Adebawore[/autotag], Peyton Bowen and David Stone highlighted their recruiting classes. For 2025, it’s [autotag]Michael Fasusi[/autotag].

Fasusi is a five-star offensive tackle prospect from Texas who hails from the same high school that produced Sooners four-star defensive back Jaydan Hardy last year. Lewisville High School, located just under 45 minutes from Dallas, has been kind to the Sooners in recent years, and on Tuesday, the Sooners reaped the benefits again.

Fasusi’s recruitment has been national since he was a sophomore when it was apparent he was heading for five-star status. The Sooners offered Fasusi in January 2023, and offensive line coach Bill Bedenbaugh has been relentless in his efforts to land Fasusi. Even with the rise of other highly sought offensive tackle prospects in this class, Bedenbuagh and OU remained in hot pursuit.

Their relationship was an integral part of the Sooners winning out.  Bedenbaugh’s track record is second to none in developing talent along the offensive line.

Fasusi is an incredible asset to the Sooners, and beating out Texas and Texas A&M is nothing to scoff at. Texas has been a major player in this recruitment, and at times this year, it felt as if the Sooners were in second place. Oklahoma weathered the highs and lows of the recruitment and advances from other challengers.

In April, predictions heavily favored the Texas Longhorns, but over the last week, insiders that cover the Longhorns began to flip their predictions to the Sooners. National recruiting figures such as Tom Loy, Matt Zenitz and Steve Wiltfong reinforced the shift.

Kyle Flood is a well-respected name in offensive line recruiting, so beating him and Texas, especially with Texas’ recruiting ability on the offensive line of late, is worthy of even more praise for Bedenbaugh and the Sooners as the dust settles.

On the field, Fasusi is a dynamic prospect. Gabe Brooks, a scouting analyst for 247Sports, compared Fasusi to a former Sooner.

Gifted O-lineman with true book-end tackle potential. Possesses excellent physical tools and promising athletic context in track and field and combine testing categories. Legitimately 6-foot-5 with long arms and a big reach. Wears mass well and owns space to add more bulk. Multi-sport athlete with 50+ shot put and 150+ discus prowess. Grew up playing soccer and is young for the 2025 cycle. Similarly explosive metrics in vertical and broad jump relative to OT projection. Shows foot quickness and agility to live on an island in pass protection. Nimbleness translates to movement ability in the run game. Flashes some punch power that should become more consistent with continued development. Improved phone-booth strength from sophomore to junior year. Length and athleticism help in recovery vs. twitchy edge speed, but will need to continue technical development to match P4-caliber foes at point of attack. Somewhat high-cut build and plays upright at times. Getting more comfortable as a convicted block-finishing presence, but can still unleash more mean streak. Entering senior year, looks like one of the nation’s top 2025 offensive tackle prospects. Projects as a high-major multi-year starter with physical and athletic specs that suggest early-round NFL Draft upside. – Brooks, 247Sports

As for the Sooner, Brooks had in mind as a comparison for Fasusi? Wanya Morris. Morris transferred to Oklahoma and spent two years as a Sooner before being drafted last year by the Kansas City Chiefs, where he is a starter on the back-to-back defending Super Bowl champs alongside another Bedenbaugh product, All-Pro center Creed Humphrey.

Oklahoma had to land Fasusi after missing on [autotag]Lamont Rogers[/autotag] and [autotag]Ty Haywood[/autotag] and trailing in the race for [autotag]Andrew Babalola[/autotag]. It was a non-negotiable as all four prospects were top 100 players.

Fortunately, the Sooners have their left tackle for the future. Pairing him with the fast-rising Ryan Fodje, an ascending player over the last year, as well as interior offensive linemen [autotag]Darius Afalava[/autotag] and [autotag]Owen Hollenbeck[/autotag] makes for an even stronger offensive line recruiting class. The Sooners are well positioned to keep [autotag]Jackson Arnold[/autotag], [autotag]Michael Hawkins[/autotag], [autotag]Kevin Sperry[/autotag] and [autotag]Jaden O’Neal[/autotag] upright as the Sooners settle in as SEC members in the coming years.

With Fasusi on board, the Sooners vaulted from 11th in 247Sports team recruiting rankings to eighth, right behind Texas A&M. Fasusi becomes the first five-star offensive lineman in Norman since [autotag]Brey Walker[/autotag].

Texas A&M is on pace to out-recruit the Texas Longhorns in the 2025 cycle

Texas A&M’s 2025 recruiting class is six spots higher than the Texas Longhorns 2025 cycle

One of the biggest worries Aggie fans had after Texas A&M officially hired Mike Elko late last year was the former defensive coordinator’s ability to match Jimbo Fisher’s recruiting success. Still, within A&M’s 6th-ranked 2025 recruiting class, any previous doubt has all but dissolved.

After a highly successful summer, which included gaining more than seven commitments with 20 overall heading into Elko’s inaugural 2024 season, Texas A&M’s 2025 cycle is currently six spots ahead of rival Texas, who recently received a verbal commitment from 5-star wide receiver Kaliq Lockett earlier this week.

While there’s still time for the Longhorns head coach Steve Sarkisian to gain momentum, Wednesday night’s news that 2205 4-star DL DJ Sanders, who was heavily predicted to land in Austin, instead committed to Texas A&M after developing a close relationship with Mike Elko and the defensive staff, as Texas’s D-line recruiting issues continued.

However, both programs are in heavy pursuit of 2025 5-star safety Jonah Williams after the Aggies missed out on fellow 5-star safety Trey McNutt committed to Oregon, as Williams is set to announce his intentions on August 24th.

According to On3 recruiting insider Steve Wiltong, 2025 5-star offensive tackle Michael Fasusi was also apart of the Jonah Williams-based conversation. Wiltong stated that while Texas remains the favorite, Texas A&M is right in the mix as the top-ranked tackle has a chance to commit to either program, plus the Oklahoma Sooners based on NIL, distance, etc.

“The Aggies could hit big this month.”

Set to renew their rivalry on the field in the recently discontinued Lone Star Showdown, the recruiting battle is bound to stay heated for years to come in the most talent-rich state in the country.

2025 4-star Edge of out of Sugar Land (TX) is predicted to land with Texas A&M

2025 Max Granville is predicted to land with Texas A&M

As I’ve said throughout the last two months, Texas A&M’s 2025 recruiting class is on the verge of adding several high-ranking prospects before mid-June rolls around. As of Monday, one of said players has received a prediction to land with the Aggies sooner rather than later.

Out of Sugar Land, Texas, 2025 four-star Edge Max Granville has been on Aggies head coach Mike Elko’s radar since he took over last November. The sought-after defender possesses the size, strength, and position versatility to thrive in Elko and defensive coordinator Jay Bateman’s system.

Since the start of his recruitment, Granville has been a favorite to land with Oklahoma. On3’s Steve Wiltfong predicts that Texas A&M will land Granville over the Sooners and Penn State.

Hailing from a lineage of exceptional athletes, Granville is a force to be reckoned with on the field. His stats speak volumes-160 tackles, 32.5 sacks, 14 pass breakups, and nine forced fumbles in just the last two seasons. His upcoming visit schedule includes USC on June 7, Texas A&M on June 13, and Oklahoma on June 21.

Is Texas A&M a favorite to land 2025 5-star safety Jonah Williams?

2025 5-star safety Jonah Williams is reportedly a favorite to land with Texas A&M according to one analyst

This summer, Texas A&M head coach Mike Elko and his hard-working staff are set to host a long list of 2025 and 2026 prospects, which includes one of the most sought-after athletes in the 2025 cycle, five-star safety Jonah Williams.

Texas A&M made Williams’ Top 7 program list last week, joining Oklahoma, LSU, Oregon, USC, Ohio State, and the Texas Longhorns.

Williams, who has been connected to the program since last year, has already taken several unofficial visits to College Station, including last July, and is scheduled to return to campus on June 7 for his first official visit before heading to Ohio State and Oregon for consecutive weekend visits.

Williams has been a favorite to land with Oklahoma since February, but this week, former 247Sports and now On3 recruiting analyst Steve Wiltfong recently provided some recruiting updates across the college football landscape, with a focus on Williams’ upcoming visit to Texas A&M, stating,

“I think the Aggies are the favorite going into the Official Visits now.”

This is obviously significant news heading into a busy summer that could result in another highly successful recruiting period, as Elko has secured nine commitments in the 2025 recruiting class so far.

According to 247Sports, Williams is currently positioned as the 12th-ranked prospect in the 2025 class, the 2nd-ranked linebacker prospect, and the fourth-ranked prospect in Texas.

Texas A&M is predicted to land 2025 4-star OT out of Denton, Texas

Texas A&M has received a prediction to land 2025 4-star offensive tackle Marcus Garcia out of Denton, Texas.

Former 247Sports recruiting director Steve Wiltfong has unexpectedly transitioned to On3. As a result, his popular “Fong Bomb” predictions have found a new home though the information has remained the same.

On Monday, Wiltfong submitted a prediction for 2025 four-star offensive tackle Marcus Garcia, out of Denton, Texas. He is set to take an official visit to Texas A&M on Thursday, June 6, and has been connected to the program since receiving an offer in November.

After routinely having his way with defenders as an elite run-blocking starting right tackle during his 2023 junior season at Ryan High School, Garcia is predicted to land with the Maroon and White ahead of his summer visit.

As a dual sport athlete, also participating in track and field (discus), Garcia (6 feet, 5 inches and 270 pounds) is a mover of men in the run game. He acts as the lead blocker on stretches, counters and pin and pulls.

Three-star offensive lineman Joshua Moses is A&M’s only offensive line commit in the 2025 cycle.

According to On3, Garcia is the 171st overall prospect in the 2025 cycle, the 10th-ranked interior offensive lineman and the 30th-ranked prospect in Texas. Michigan, Arkansas, Penn State, Nebraska, Missouri, Florida and Texas Tech remain in the running.

2025 4-star DL out of Cypress (TX) is predicted to land with Texas A&M amid his upcoming commitment date

2025 4-star DL Landon Rink has receiving a prediction to land with the Maroon & White

Texas A&M’s 2025 recruiting class is already impressive. Four commitments include 4-star linebacker Kelvion Riggins, who will be visiting College Station this weekend after reportedly shutting down his recruitment and sticking with the Aggies for the long haul.

On Wednesday, after taking an unofficial visit to College Station, 2025 4-star defensive lineman Landon Rink out of Cy-Fair HS in Cypress, Texas, has been on A&M’s radar ever since head coach Mike Elko arrived back in November, as it has been revealed that Rink will announce his commitment on Wednesday, April 3.

Right now, Rink’s finalists include Ohio State, Penn State, USC, and Texas A&M, but don’t count out the Texas Longhorns, as his father, Shane Rink, was a defensive lineman in Austin from 1991-1995. However, according to 247Sports’ Steve Wiltfong, Rink is now predicted to land with Aggies before his official campus visit on June 13.

Standing at 6-2 and 270 pounds, Rink dominated the defensive interior during his 2023 junior season, racking up 70 tackles, 15 sacks, 30 tackles for loss, five pass breakups, and two forced fumbles on the year. Possessing the speed, power, and versatility needed to excel at the next level, working under Elko’s defensive guidance is just what the doctor ordered.

According to 247Sports, Rink is currently the 65th-ranked defensive lineman and the 100th-ranked player in Texas.

Elite 2025 4-Star QB out of Corona (CA) has received a prediction to land with Texas A&M

According to multiple insiders, including 247Sports’ Steve Wiltfong, 2025 4-star QB Husan Longstreet is predicted to land with Texas A&M.

On Monday, 2025 4-star quarterback Husan Longstreet released his Top 8 program list, including Texas A&M after he visited College Station early last month.

With four commitments in the cycle, Mike Elko is looking to add the first signal-caller in his A&M coaching career, while Longstreet has been on his radar since taking over in late November. While the Aggies’ QB room is solidified for the 2024 season, preparing for the future as soon as the 2025 season has made Longstreet a high-priority prospect.

Rumors regarding Longstreet’s connection to the program took a positive turn this week, as 247Sports’ Recruiting Director Steve Wiltfong has submitted a prediction for Longstreet to land with the Aggies over Oregon, Ole Miss, Michigan, and Auburn. Joining Wiltfong, On3 Oregon insider Justin Hopkins has also submitted his prediction for A&M to land the California native.

According to 247Sports, Longstreet is currently positioned as the 53rd-ranked player in the 2025 recruiting class, the 5th-ranked quarterback, and the No. 1-ranked player in California. Before his commitment announcement on Sunday, April 15, Longstreet is expected to take another visit to College Station on March 29.

Standing at 6-1 and weighing just over 185 pounds, Longstreet completed 199/298 for 3,013 yards, 24 touchdowns, and just six interceptions, with 645 rushing yards and seven scores during his 2023 junior campaign. Possessing elite arm strength coupled with impressive accuracy and touch, it wouldn’t be surprising to see him continue rising up the recruiting ranks.

Sooners earn another crystal ball from 247Sports director of football recruiting for in-state star

The Oklahoma Sooners latest crystal ball comes from 247Sports director of football recruiting Steve Wiltfong

The Oklahoma Sooners have made significant headway in the recruitment of 2024 four-star edge [autotag]C.J. Nickson[/autotag]. Nickson, out of Weatherford, Oklahoma, is considered one of the best prospect in the state and is the No. 46 prospect in America according to 247Sports.

And it looks like the Sooners have opened a significant lead in Nickson’s recruitment.

Brandon Drumm of OUInsider, Josh McCuistion of SoonerScoop and Collin Kennedy of Sooners Illustrated have each issued a prediction favoring the Sooners. That’s one from each of the major recruiting sites that covers the Oklahoma Sooners.

On Monday, 247Sports director of football recruiting Steve Wiltfong joined the local experts with a crystal ball of his own favoring the Sooners.

Nickson is a consensus four-star prospect and if the Sooners are able to land his commitment, it would give OU eight prospects from the state of Oklahoma in the [autotag]2025 recruiting cycle[/autotag].

Oklahoma receives crystal balls for 3-star Arkansas prospect Marcus Wimberly

Oklahoma has landed three crystal ball projections in favor of landing three-star S Marcus Wimberly.

Oklahoma’s safety position for 2024 has the best talent it has had in quite some time. [autotag]Peyton Bowen[/autotag], a former five-star prospect, is set to take over as a full-time starter. At the same time, Oklahoma returned [autotag]Billy Bowman[/autotag], one of the nation’s most dynamic defensive playmakers and future NFL Draft pick.

[autotag]Robert Spears-Jennings[/autotag] will be the first to spell either of them. Talented athlete Erik McCarty will be making his return after suffering a knee injury in the final game of his high school career, which forced him to red shirt his freshman season.

Recruiting has been solid, and now true freshmen [autotag]Reggie Powers[/autotag], [autotag]Michael Boganowski[/autotag], Jaydan Hardy, and Mykel Patterson-McDonald are set to join the mix.

Oklahoma has no safety commitments for the 2025 class, but 247Sports director of national recruiting Steve Wiltfong believes that may end soon if his recent crystal ball prediction is any indication.

Tuesday morning, Wiltfong logged a crystal ball for Oklahoma to land three-star safety [autotag]Marcus Wimberly[/autotag] out of Arkansas. Wimberly is a strong prospect who plays baseball and competes in track and field. He ran an 11.45 100 and a 23.61 200 as a sophomore in the spring of 2023.

Wimberly visited Oklahoma for their junior day earlier this year. He likes the on and off-the-field culture fit for Oklahoma, so it should be no surprise that Oklahoma has a significant footing in his recruitment. An Arkansas crystal ball was logged previously, so discounting the in-state school would be unwise. Two Michigan insiders have also logged crystal balls in favor of Oklahoma landing Wimberly, so it’s safe to say that the Sooners are the trending favorite.
