Is Texas A&M a favorite to land 2025 5-star safety Jonah Williams?

2025 5-star safety Jonah Williams is reportedly a favorite to land with Texas A&M according to one analyst

This summer, Texas A&M head coach Mike Elko and his hard-working staff are set to host a long list of 2025 and 2026 prospects, which includes one of the most sought-after athletes in the 2025 cycle, five-star safety Jonah Williams.

Texas A&M made Williams’ Top 7 program list last week, joining Oklahoma, LSU, Oregon, USC, Ohio State, and the Texas Longhorns.

Williams, who has been connected to the program since last year, has already taken several unofficial visits to College Station, including last July, and is scheduled to return to campus on June 7 for his first official visit before heading to Ohio State and Oregon for consecutive weekend visits.

Williams has been a favorite to land with Oklahoma since February, but this week, former 247Sports and now On3 recruiting analyst Steve Wiltfong recently provided some recruiting updates across the college football landscape, with a focus on Williams’ upcoming visit to Texas A&M, stating,

“I think the Aggies are the favorite going into the Official Visits now.”

This is obviously significant news heading into a busy summer that could result in another highly successful recruiting period, as Elko has secured nine commitments in the 2025 recruiting class so far.

According to 247Sports, Williams is currently positioned as the 12th-ranked prospect in the 2025 class, the 2nd-ranked linebacker prospect, and the fourth-ranked prospect in Texas.

2025 4-star CB Cobey Sellers has announced his commitment date

2025 4-star cornerback Cobey Sellers is set to announce his commitment next Saturday

With nine commitments in Texas A&M’s 2025 recruiting class, new head coach Mike Elko’s first cycle with the program, he and his staff have been hard at work this offseason while visiting many prospects this month, including four-star cornerback Cobey Sellers.

Sellers, who is predicted to land with Oklahoma, announced his commitment date on Monday afternoon. The Sooners, Texas Longhorns, and Texas A&M are the final three programs in the running for his immense talent. Mark your calendars, as the Shadow Creek HS incoming senior will announce his decision on Saturday, May 11, at 2:00 p.m. CT., which will air on 247Sports’ YouTube channel.

According to 247Sports, Sellers is currently positioned as a top prospect in the 2025 class, ranking 124th overall, 14th among cornerbacks, and 20th in Texas. These impressive rankings underscore his potential and make him a highly sought-after recruit.

Versatile as all get out, Sellers played quarterback, cornerback and special teams during his 2023 junior season, throwing for 956 yards and 17 touchdowns, and due to his duties on offense, just 12 tackles and a forced fumble.

Last week, Texas A&M defensive coordinator Jay Bateman and cornerbacks coach Jordan Peterson visited Sellers last Thursday, making a final push before next week.

Texas A&M OL coach Adam Cushing is looking like the best hire of the offseason

Texas A&M’s offensive line looks in good hands under new OL coach Adam Cushing

This offseason, Texas A&M’s 2025 recruiting class currently has nine commitments, including four offensive linemen. Head coach Mike Elko and new OL coach Adam Cushing are focused on building in the trenches after last season’s results were less than satisfactory.

Delving deeper into the four commits, it’s evident that Cushing has quickly established himself as a key figure in the program’s recruiting efforts this offseason. His adeptness at building relationships, combined with his impressive development background from his time at Duke and Northwestern, has left a strong impression on every offensive line prospect he has engaged with.

Out of the recent commits, four-star offensive tackle Connor Carty from Prosper, Texas, sticks out. Previous head coach Jimbo Fisher consistently had trouble recruiting the DFW (Dallas, Fort Worth) area, which looks to be an issue of the past under Elko and Cushing.

But let’s not just take my word for it, as 247Sports’ National Recruiting analyst Mike Roach has been quick to acknowledge the positive trend, recently highlighting Cushing’s remarkable success on the recruiting trail in the last two months. This is a testament to the hard work and dedication of the new coaching staff.

“Duke with multiple OL picked which speaks to the development under Adam Cushing who has been a popular name with recruits since taking the job at Texas A&M”

During the 2024 Draft, Duke OL Graham Barton, one of the top prospects in the entire class, went 26th overall to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, while fellow Blue Devils interior offensive lineman Jacob Monk was selected in the fifth round by the Green Bay Packers, Cushing aided in both players development during the 2022 and 2023 season.

Heading into 2024, the news that Bryce Foster was cut from the team while simultaneously entering the transfer portal was only surprising to some, as the addition of former Utah center Koli Faaiu signals a major change in trajectory in what Cushing expects from the interior of the O-line next season, which was a major weak spot compared to the tackles.

However, Cushing can rely on veteran left tackle Trey Zuhn III and right tackle Reuben Fatheree II. Both guard spots are still in the competition faze, while Faaiu and sophomore Mark Nabou will likely battle for the starting center spot this fall.

All in all, Adam Cushing has proven his worth, with hopefully great on-field results to come.

2025 3-star CB out Jamar Beal-Goines has committed to Texas A&M

Texas A&M has landed a commitment from 2025 3-star cornerback Jamar Beal-Gaines out of Phoenix, Arizona

Boom! Texas A&M has landed a commitment from one of the rising defensive back prospects in the 2025 recruiting class, as three-star cornerback Jamar Beal-Gaines is headed to College Station, joining nine current commits in class.

According to 247Sports, Beal-Gaines is currently positioned as the 66th-ranked cornerback in the 2025 cycle and the 5th-ranked prospect in Arizona. The 6-0, 170-pound speedster is as underrated as they come. After receiving his offer from Texas A&M in January, Beal-Gaines visited College Station on April 13th, reportedly enjoying the trip.

While his skillset on the field is certainly impressive, the incoming senior is statistically one of the fastest players in Arizona. He recently ran a 10.4-second 100 meters and a sub-4.3 40-yard dash, so let’s just say this young man is lightning in a bottle.

With his commitment, Beal-Goines is now the second cornerback to commit this year, joining four-star CB Deyjhon Pettaway. Thus far, the 2025 class has gained ten total commitments.

WATCH: Texas A&M 2025 4-star OL commit Jonte Newman holds his own during Rivals camp

Watch Texas A&M offensive line commit Jonte Newman during Rivals camp this weekend

Texas A&M’s growing 2025 recruiting class is currently offensive line-heavy,  with four OL commitments, including Cypress, Texas offensive tackle Jonte Newman, who is competing in the annual Rivals, Dallas camp this weekend.

Newman, the starting left tackle for Bridgeland HS, has the versatility to play both tackle positions. He has shown this throughout Sunday afternoon against some of the top pass rushers in the 2025 and 2026 recruiting cycles, most notably the No. 1-ranked 2026 defensive lineman Jakeem Stewart.

Even without pads, Newman and Stewart fought fiercely during the pass rush set. The 6-4, 250-pound Newman maintained a solid stance, holding his ground against the highly athletic Stewart, showcasing his raw power.

Again, this is without pads, but still, it’s an impressive rep as the high four-star prospect looks to continue impressing Texas A&M head coach Mike Elko and his staff during his 2024 senior season. New offensive line coach Adam Cushing has already placed his stamp on the program in the 2025 class.

According to 247Sports, Newman is currently positioned as the 18th-ranked interior offensive lineman in the 2025 cycle and the 42nd-ranked prospect in Texas.

Texas A&M has made 2025 5-star safety out of Galveston (TX) Top 7 program list

2025 5-star safety Jonah Williams has included Texas A&M in his Top 7 program list

Texas A&M is officially running for one of the best athletes in the 2025 recruiting class. Five-star safety Jonah Williams out of Galveston (TX) has released his Top 7 program list, including the Aggies among a host of blue-blood suitors.

Already visiting College Station during the spring practice period, Williams has been in contact with head coach Mike Elko and his new staff as A&M joins Oklahoma, LSU, Oregon, USC, Ohio State, and the Texas Longhorns. Currently, a favorite to land with the Sooners, Elko has a lot to do heading into a busy recruiting summer.

Jonah Williams stands out on the field at an impressive 6-3 and 203 pounds. His rangy defense and position versatility make him a formidable player. His 2023 junior campaign was a testament to his skills, with 54 tackles, four interceptions (three returned for touchdowns), eight pass breakups, four tackles for loss, and two kick returns on special teams.

Knowing Mike Elko’s affinity with height and length in every defensive back he recruits, it’s no wonder Williams is a high-priority prospect for the Maroon & White.

According to 247Sports, Williams is currently positioned as the 12th-ranked prospect in the 2025 class, the 2nd-ranked linebacker prospect, and the fourth-ranked prospect in Texas.

2025 4-star TE out of Jasper (TX) has placed Texas A&M in his Top 10 program list

Texas A&M has made 2025 4-star tight end Kiotti Armstrong’s Top 10 program list

Texas A&M’s 2025 recruiting class will continue to grow as the months roll on. The spring season is over, and a busy summer of scheduled visits from a plethora of elite 2025 prospects, including four-star tight end and Jasper, Texas native Kiotti Armstrong, will follow.

New Aggies head coach Mike Elko knows that an offense must load up at the tight end position to avoid succumbing to mismatches in the passing game while holding up in the running game. Focusing on future depth, Elko and his staff received good news: Kiotti Armstrong has included Texas A&M in his Top 10 program list.

Armstrong’s Top 10 program list is a testament to the fierce competition in the recruitment process. Alongside Texas A&M, he has also considered powerhouses such as Florida State, Auburn, Alabama, LSU, Miami, Texas, Mississippi State, Baylor, and Ole Miss. Armstrong has already made several unofficial visits to College Station, with another official visit scheduled for June 13.

On the field, Armstrong is one of the best athletes in the country, with the potential to play on the defensive line or offensive line at the next level if he chooses to do so. Standing at an imposing 6-6 and 250 pounds, Armstrong recorded just 268 receiving yards during his 2023 junior season but hauled in 9 touchdowns on the year.

According to 247Sports, Armstrong is currently positioned as the 65th-ranked prospect in the 2025 class, the 3rd-ranked tight end, and the 12th-ranked prospect in Texas.

2025 5-star WR Kaliq Lockett reflects on his recent visit to Texas A&M

2025 5-star WR Kaliq Lockett is coming off his recent visit to Texas A&M during the spring game

Texas A&M has yet to land a wide receiver in the 2025 recruiting class, but it doesn’t mean head coach Mike Elko is trying! The Aggies hosted a bevy of 2025 prospects this weekend during the Maroon & White spring game, including five-star WR Kaliq Lockett.

After several unofficial visits to College Station this year, Lockett returned to campus to attend the Aggies’ annual Maroon & White spring game on Saturday afternoon, joining the likes of 2025 five-star athlete Jonah Williams and others.

According to 247Sports, Lockett is currently positioned as the 11th-ranked player in the class, the 2nd-ranked wide receiver, and the 3rd-ranked player in Texas, as the Sachse (TX) native is coming off his highly productive 2023 junior campaign, recording 59 receptions, 1,299 yards and 13 touchdowns on the year.

After his visit, Lockett spoke to On3’s Steve Wiltfong, providing a brief but revealing quote that should be very encouraging for Aggies fans who may still be on the fence regarding Mike Elko’s effect on the program’s cultures:

“The culture change at A&M is eye-catching.”

Lockett’s family connections to the University obviously stand out the most. Still, his relationship with Elko and his staff, especially with the new offensive coordinator, Collin Klein, will continue to grow in the coming months.

Texas A&M offers 2025 4-star WR and Ole Miss commit out of Saraland (AL)

Texas A&M has offered 2025 4-star wide receiver and Ole Miss commit Dillon Alfred

Texas A&M fans everywhere should expect this recruiting success under head coach Mike Elko going forward. Those who doubted that he could match what Jimbo Fisher accomplished on the recruiting front during his six-year tenure have likely changed their tune after witnessing this week’s success.

Since Sunday, the Aggies have landed four commitments in the 2025 recruiting class, led by four-star quarterback Husan Longstreet. He is taking his first visit to College Station since committing to attend A&M’s Maroon & White spring game on Saturday afternoon.

Even with the recent success, Elko and his staff aren’t slowing down one bit. It has been confirmed that 2025 four-star wide receiver Dillon Alfred, who is currently committed to Lane Kiffin and Ole Miss, has received an offer from Texas A&M.

Set to enter his senior season at Saraland HS in Alabama, Alfred finished his 2023 junior season with 35 receptions, 586 yards, and six touchdowns through the air. His 2022 sophomore campaign was even more impressive, with 57 receptions, 1,196 receiving yards, and 15 touchdowns.

Listed at 5-11 and 175 bounds, Alfred has the size of the play at the X at the next level. He displays impressive acceleration after the catch and is an absolute nightmare to stop in the screen game once the blocking does its job. He’s a fantastic athlete with a ton of upside, and most importantly, he’s a very hard worker on and off the field.

While he may be locked into Ole Miss right now, if a visit is arranged, the Aggies could be in the thick of his recruitment heading into the summer.

2025 4-star OL Jonte Newman has committed to Texas A&M

Boom! Texas A&M has landed a commitment from 2025 4-star OL Jonte Newman!

Boom! Texas A&M and head coach Mike Elko have landed two four-star offensive line commitments in the 2025 class in the last two days, as four-star OL Jonte Newman joined four-star OL Connor Carty in announcing his intentions on Friday night.

As we reported earlier this week, Newman had received a prediction from reliable On3 recruiting analyst Steve Wiltfong that a commitment to the Aggies would be coming sooner than later, as the Bridgeland left tackle hails from the same program as Texas A&M starting quarterback Conner Weigman.

Now the ninth commit in A&M’s growing 2025 recruiting class, the Aggies are set to host another long list of prospects during Saturday’s Maroon & White spring game, meaning several future commitments could be on the horizon. As we can see, building in the trenches has become the No. 1 priority this offseason.

As the starting left tackle during Bridgeland’s 2023 campaign, Newman has been a stalwart in the trenches, standing at 6-4 and north of 247 pounds while possessing the athleticism, strength, and footwork to thrive at the next level.

According to On3’s industry ranking, Newman is currently positioned as the 28th-ranked offensive tackle in the 2025 cycle and the 29th-ranked prospect in Texas. Newman is coming off an unofficial visit to College Station.
