2025 4-Star LB and recent Texas decommit will reportedly visit Texas A&M this weekend

After backing out of his commitment to Texas, 2025 4-star LB Anthony Williams is set to visit Texas A&M this weekend

This weekend, Texas A&M’s spring football season continues with practice No. 8 on Saturday afternoon, which will include a long list of 2025, 2026, and even several 2027 prospects set to attend the practice and tour the facilities in one of the denser recruiting weekends for the program this year.

Plenty of well-known names in the 2025 recruiting sphere will be in attendance, including 4-star running back and LSU commit James Simon, 4-star tight end Kiotti Armstrong (making his second consecutive weekend visit), and now, 4-star linebacker and recent Texas decommit Anthony Williams, who AggiesToday confirmed on Friday afternoon.

Williams, who last visited College Station last summer, committed to Texas at the start of the new year, but things have obviously changed over the past three months, providing an opportunity for Elko and new defensive coordinator/linebacker coach Jay Bateman to significant progress in building a solid relationship moving forward.

Coming off of his productive 2023 junior season at Shadow Creek HS in Pearland, Texas, Williams recorded 30 tackles, four tackles for loss, a sack, a forced fumble, and an interception on the year.

According to 247Sports, Williams is currently positioned as the 67th-ranked linebacker in the 2025 recruiting class and the 110th-ranked prospect in Texas.

Texas A&M is predicted to land 2025 4-star OT out of Denton, Texas

Texas A&M has received a prediction to land 2025 4-star offensive tackle Marcus Garcia out of Denton, Texas.

Former 247Sports recruiting director Steve Wiltfong has unexpectedly transitioned to On3. As a result, his popular “Fong Bomb” predictions have found a new home though the information has remained the same.

On Monday, Wiltfong submitted a prediction for 2025 four-star offensive tackle Marcus Garcia, out of Denton, Texas. He is set to take an official visit to Texas A&M on Thursday, June 6, and has been connected to the program since receiving an offer in November.

After routinely having his way with defenders as an elite run-blocking starting right tackle during his 2023 junior season at Ryan High School, Garcia is predicted to land with the Maroon and White ahead of his summer visit.

As a dual sport athlete, also participating in track and field (discus), Garcia (6 feet, 5 inches and 270 pounds) is a mover of men in the run game. He acts as the lead blocker on stretches, counters and pin and pulls.

Three-star offensive lineman Joshua Moses is A&M’s only offensive line commit in the 2025 cycle.

According to On3, Garcia is the 171st overall prospect in the 2025 cycle, the 10th-ranked interior offensive lineman and the 30th-ranked prospect in Texas. Michigan, Arkansas, Penn State, Nebraska, Missouri, Florida and Texas Tech remain in the running.

2025 4-star RB out of Quitman (MS) will take a official visit to Texas A&M in June

2025 4-star RB Akylin Dear will take an official visit to Texas A&M on Friday, June 21

Texas A&M head football coach Mike Elko has received some good news regarding one of the top running backs in the 2025 recruiting class four-star RB Akylin Dear out of Quitman, Mississippi. He will reportedly take his first official visit to College Station on Friday, June 21.

First reported by On3’s Chad Simmons, Dear has not visited Texas A&M since receiving his offer from Elko despite landing in his Top 12 program list. Earlier this month, Dear announced that he would be taking a campus visit on June 21-23, now confirming that it will be in an official capacity.

Dear has already formed a solid relationship with new Texas A&M RB coach Trooper Taylor, one of the top recruiters and developers in the country, as Dear’s skill set, combined with his tenacious work ethic, fits what Mike Elko and his offensive staff are looking for in a future 3-down back.

Akylin Dear is listed at 6-1 and just over 200 pounds. On the field, he possesses sprinter speed, impressive vision, and footwork once he makes his initial cut upfield. During his 2023 junior season at Quitman HS, Dear was the focal point on offense, accumulating 2,016 rushing yards and 27 touchdowns on the year, including three touchdown passes.

According to 247Sports Composite, Dear is currently positioned as the 32nd-ranked prospect in the 2025 cycle, the 2nd-ranked running back, and the 2nd-ranked prospect in Mississippi.
