Giannis Antetokounmpo names Steph Curry one of his favorite players in the NBA

Giannis Antetokounmpo is a fan of Stephen Curry.

With no NBA basketball on the schedule until further notice due to the coronavirus pandemic, players around the association are finding new ways to fill their time.

Players have turned to social media, video games and watching old highlights while the season is on hold. On Thursday, Giannis Antetokounmpo spent time interacting with fans on Instagram. The reigning Most Valuable Player answered questions live on Instagram alongside his girlfriend, Mariah Riddlesprigger.

The “Greek Freak” was asked to name his favorite players in the NBA and answered with a member of the Golden State Warriors.

Antetokounmpo listed Stephen Curry with Magic Johnson and Damian Lillard as some of his favorite players.

The pair of MVP’s have had a storied relationship since 2018 when Curry selected Antetokounmpo in the NBA All-Star draft.

Antetokounmpo followed suit in 2019, selecting Curry for his team. Although he was injured for the 2020 edition of the game, Curry cheered on his former All-Star teammate in Chicago.

In Antetokounmpo’s trip to the Chase Center in January, Curry gifted the Bucks forward a signed jersey in his locker after the game.

Before the NBA paused the season, Curry and the Warriors were scheduled to travel to Milwaukee on March 15.

Steve Kerr applauds Steph Curry’s work during the coronavirus pandemic

Steve Kerr had high praise for Stephen Curry’s off-court work during the coronavirus pandemic.

While there are no NBA games on the calendar due to the coronavirus pandemic, players around the league are choosing different avenues to fill their time. One member of the Golden State Warriors has been particularly active while the association is on hiatus.

Stephen Curry has set up a meal donation plan for out of school children in the Bay Area while advocating for social distancing. To help spread the correct information about coronavirus, Curry hosted a live Q&A on Instagram with infectious disease expert Dr. Anthony Fauci.

Before he tuned in for Curry’s informative interview with Fauci, Steve Kerr joined Damon Bruce, Ray Ratto and Matt Kolsky on 95.7 The Game in San Francisco. Kerr had high praise for his point guard’s work during the COVID-19 outbreak.

We were talking about some draft prep stuff, and I just said to Bob — ‘can you imagine have a better representative for our organization?’ Obviously, all-world player, one of the great’s of all time but just as a human being representing our organization — what he’s doing, what he’s done with his life outside of basketball. And what he’s doing right now in the midst of this crisis. You know, raising money raising awareness, feeding people is incredible. And I’m so glad he interviewed Fauci, and I’m looking forward to hearing it later.

Curry’s interview with Fauci covered a wide range of questions regarding the coronavirus. The nearly 30 minute Q&A had around 50,000 viewers that included President Barack Obama, Andre Iguodala, Common and Justin Bieber.

With the NBA season on hold due to the coronavirus pandemic, Stephen Curry spent time on social media with infectious disease expert Dr. Anthony Fauci. The tandem fielded questions regarding coronavirus from a large audience, live on Instagram through Curry’s account.

Fauci, the director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, joined Curry to discuss all things COVID-19, including common questions to help spread the correct information about the virus.

Curry and Fauci covered a bevy of topics, including the differences between the flu and coronavirus, the timeline of a possible vaccine, the chances of getting the virus more than once and what steps need to happen to get sporting events back on the calendar.

During the 28 minute Q&A period, Curry’s Instagram video gathered nearly 50,000 viewers, including President Barack Obama, Justin Bieber, Andre Iguodala and Common.

While the Golden State Warriors’ season is suspended due to the coronavirus pandemic, Stephen Curry has been active.

The two-time Most Valuable Player has advocated for social distancing during the COVID-19 outbreak. Curry and his wife Ayesha have started a breakfast and lunch donation pledge for out of school children in Oakland.

On Thursday, Curry will host a coronavirus question and answer segment with infectious disease expert Dr. Anthony Fauci. The Director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Disease will join Curry on Instagram to take questions on how to stay safe during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Among current NBA players, Golden State’s point guard is second to only LeBron James when it comes to Instagram followers. With Curry’s social media platform, the duo could have an audience of 29.8 million people.

Dr. Fauci has been seen on television during President Donald Trump’s White House COVID-19 task force briefings. The doctor recently joined the sports podcast Pardon My Take to answer questions regarding the virus.

Mychal Thompson says Klay wants to retire with the Warriors alongside Steph Curry

According to his father Mychal Thompson, Klay wants to retire as a member of the Golden State Warriors alongside Stephen Curry.

In 2009, the Golden State Warriors selected Stephen Curry in the NBA draft, two years later, they added another shooter named Klay Thompson in the lottery. Over the next eight years, the duo of Curry and Thompson formed the iconic duo known as the Splash Brothers.

Accomplishments like All-Star nods, Most Valuable Player trophies, Three-Point Contest champions, All-NBA Teams, All-Defensive Teams and championship banners have all spawned from the tandem of Curry and Thompson.

While the NBA is on pause due to the coronavirus pandemic, the parents of the legendary Bay Area basketball pairing linked up on the “Raising Fame” podcast. Mychal and Juli Thompson joined Dell and Sonya Curry on their podcast to talk about the relationship between their sons.

According to the former first overall pick, his son wants to retire as a member of the Golden State Warriors alongside Curry one day.

Klay loves playing with Steph. He respects him so much. He talks about him all the time about how hard he works and how dedicated he is to the game and to his family. He’s said it to me in private, and he loves playing with Steph. He wants to retire as a Warrior, not in another 10 years. He wants to go into the Hall of Fame along with Steph. That’s how close he feels to him and how honored he is to play with him. They’ve formed a special bond.

After leading Golden State to the past five NBA Finals, Curry and Thompson have yet to link up on the court in the 2019-20 season due to injuries. Curry returned from his hand injury to the Warriors for just one game before the NBA went on hiatus due to COVID-19. Thompson has been ruled out for the remainder of the season from the knee injury he suffered in the 2019 Finals.

The Splash Brothers will have to wait for the 2020-21 season to continue to build their Hall of Fame candidacy.

Atlanta’s Trae Young has high praise for Klay Thompson’s defense

Trae Young listed Klay Thompson as one of his top-three defenders in the NBA.

While the NBA is on hold due to the coronavirus pandemic, players across the league are turning to social media to fill their time. Whether it’s question and answer segments, watching old highlights, or discussing video games, the NBA hiatus has turned players from the court to their phones.

On Monday night, Atlanta’s phenom sharpshooter Trae Young spend time on Twitter doing a question and answer period with his followers. The first-time All-Star answered questions about his music, movies and his time at Oklahoma.

Young was asked about his top-three defensive players in the NBA and mentioned a member of the Golden State Warriors. The former lottery pick named Klay Thompson as one of his best defenders along with Kawhi Leonard and Jrue Holiday.

Before getting injuring his knee in the 2019 NBA Finals, Thompson was named to the NBA Second-Team All-Defensive Team.

In Young’s first dance with Golden State in his rookie season, he was held to four points on 2-of-12 shooting in 27 minutes. In round two, Young dropped 20 points on 8-of-20 shooting.

Without Thompson on the floor due to injury in 2019, Young notched 24 points on 10-of-19 shooting. In three games against Golden State in his career, Young has only shot 2-of-16 from beyond the arc.

Once Thompson makes his long-awaited return to the court from his ACL injury, Young will have the chance to battle with Golden State’s Splash Brother again.

Who doesn’t love a Cinderella story in March Madness? Long before he was winning Most Valuable Player awards and hanging championship banners in Oracle Arena, Stephen Curry played a key figure in one of the most memorable runs in NCAA Tournament history.

Coming off a thrilling victory against Gonzaga in the first round, Curry’s Davidson squad linked up with the second-seeded Georgetown Hoyas. With second-team All American Roy Hibbert returning for his senior season, the Hoyas were labeled as a favorite in 2008 after going to the Final Four in 2007.

However, the Big East regular-season champions ran into magic in the second round. Davidson fell down by 17 points to Georgetown, but it wasn’t enough to send Curry home.

After lighting up Gonzaga for 40 points, Curry missed 10 of his first 12 shots for the Wildcats. However, the future NBA All-Star nailed six of his final nine shots to score 25 of his 30 points in the second half. With the pressure on, Curry aced five of his six last free throws to seal the game for Davidson.

Despite limiting Curry early, the red hot shooter stunned John Thompson III’s Hoyas as Davidson danced into the Sweet 16.

Curry finished with 30 points on 8-of-21 shooting with five 3-pointers, five assists, three rebounds and three steals. Curry’s backcourt partner Jason Andrews added 20 points and five assists.

Next up, Davidson traveled to Detroit to face the Wisconsin Badgers in the Sweet 16.

Al Horford called Steph Curry’s 2016 game-winner over the Thunder “one of the toughest shots ever!”

During the NBA’s hiatus due to coronavirus, watching highlights from the past has become popular amongst players across the league. Spencer Dinwiddie, Bam Adebayo, Stephen Curry and others have admitted to watching their old film while the season is on hold.

Another player weighed in on a famous clip from the past. Al Horford of the Philadelphia 76ers responded on social media to Stephen Curry’s long-distance game-winner against the Oklahoma City Thunder from 2016.

The veteran big man called Curry’s dagger 3-pointer “one of the toughest shots ever!”

Curry’s tied the NBA record for 12 makes from beyond the arc — with the most important coming from 38-feet with 2.5 seconds remaining in overtime to seal Golden State’s 53rd win of the season. The two-time Most Valuable Player ended his memorable night with 46 points on 14-of-24 shooting from the field.

Even Mike Breen’s call of Curry’s game-winning shot has lived on in NBA lore.

Fast forward to the 2019-20 season; Curry has only played in five games due to a broken hand injury he suffered early in the season. His return to the court was limited to one game due to the league suspending the season. When the season resumes, Curry will have 17 games left on the calendar.

During the NBA’s coronavirus pandemic, Stephen Curry is showing off his golf game.

It has been over a week since the NBA suspended the season due to the coronavirus. Since the announcement from the league, precautions for COVID-19 have only grown.

As positives test results for the virus continue to pop up around the league, the NBA has directed teams to close practice facilities. With limited options for basketball activities and California under a stay at home order, members of the Golden State Warriors are getting creative with their free time.

On Friday, Stephen Curry showed off his golf skills. Callaway Golf asked the two-time Most valuable Players how he’s “playing through.” Curry responded on Twitter with a video of him acing a trick golf shot from home.

Curry hit an off-the-wall chip shot directly into a standing cup. The Davidson product celebrated in a similar fashion to one of his vintage long-distance 3-pointers.

Steph Curry’s ‘soul smiled’ during replay of Klay Thompson’s 60 point game from 2016

Stephen Curry spent his Wednesday night watching Klay Thompson’s 60 point game against the Indiana Pacers in 2016.

The NBA hit pause on the 2019-20 season due to the coronavirus pandemic. With no games until further notice, players around the league suddenly have an abundance of time on their hands.

Whether it’s playing video games, watching old highlights or learning the piano, members of the Golden State Warriors are getting creative while the season is suspended.

On Wednesday night, the Warriors got an appetizer to fill their basketball fix. NBC Sports Bay Area reaired the 2016 contest between Golden State and the Indiana Pacers — otherwise known as the Klay Thompson 60 point game.

Thompson famously recorded a new career-high in only three quarters against the Pacers. The three-time All-Star had Oracle Arena in a frenzy, scoring 60 points on 21-of-33 shooting with eight 3-pointers in only 29 minutes. Adding to the legend of the Thompson’s night, the shooting guard only dribbled the ball 11 times.

Thompson’s fellow Splash Brother tuned into the reair of the historic night in Oakland. Stephen Curry tweeted he was watching along with the replay like it was live.

On Thompson’s career night, Curry only tallied 13 points, but he did add 11 assists in 29 minutes.

For a team that has struggled with injuries and losses throughout the current season, a trip down memory lane might be just what the Golden State needs during the NBA hiatus.
