Sleeper picks for the 2024 Genesis Invitational at Riviera

Will the year of the longshot continue in LA?

A stacked field is in Los Angeles for the PGA Tour’s third signature event of the year, the Genesis Invitational at Riviera Country Club.

Although world No. 1 Scottie Scheffler, Rory McIlroy, Viktor Hovland, Patrick Cantlay, Xander Schauffele, Max Homa and Justin Thomas will tee it up Thursday, all eyes will be on Tiger Woods.

Woods hasn’t played an official Tour event since the Masters last spring but did play a few times in December at the Hero World Challenge and PNC Championship.

The 15-time major winner spent Monday night announcing his new apparel line, Sun Day Red.

Although the best players in the world are set to do battle in LA, there are several sleepers to keep an eye on.

Best fantasy sleepers for Chiefs’ Week 1 matchup vs. Lions

These five #Chiefs could help win your Week 1 fantasy football games.

Fantasy football can be a fickle thing for fans at the beginning of a new season, and although Kansas City Chiefs players may seem like a safe bet to start in Week 1, they face a tough test against a stout Detroit Lions defense.

Patrick Mahomes is obviously a lock to be a top quarterback in 2023 but might be without his top receiving option, tight end Travis Kelce, for the season opener. Isiah Pacheco is set to play but had surgeries in the offseason that may compromise his explosiveness early in the Chiefs’ schedule.

With this in mind, it makes sense to look to some of Kansas City’s more unheralded contributors to win fantasy games in Week 1.

Check out our top picks who could make a serious impact against the Lions:

Day 3 sleepers for Packers to target in 2023 NFL draft

A staff at Packers Wire picked Day 3 sleepers for Green Bay to consider in the 2023 NFL draft.

The Green Bay Packers currently have 10 picks in the upcoming 2023 NFL Draft, but seven of those will come on Day 3 when most of the highly coveted prospects are off the board.

However, in his first five drafts as the Packers GM, Brian Gutekunst has had some success in finding quality players on the last day of the draft.

Marquez Valdes-Scantling and Jon Runyan Jr. were good value compared to where they were selected, and just last year, Romeo Doubs, Zach Tom and Kingsley Enagbare showed a lot of potential as rookies despite being taken in the fourth round or later.

So, with the draft less than three weeks away, the staff at Packers Wire identified one player who is being overlooked and should be on Green Bay’s radar for Day 3.

6 underrated prospects to watch for the Saints in 2023 NFL draft

Penn State TE Brendon Strange and San Jose State DE Viliami Fehoko are among 6 underrated prospects to watch for the Saints in the 2023 NFL draft’s third day:

Everyone knows the big names in the 2023 NFL draft: the first-round prospects who get fans excited and who draw swarms of scouts and coaches to their pro day workouts. But the New Orleans Saints have done well in the later rounds of the draft, and it’s important to identify players they could be looking at in rounds four, five, six, and seven — as well as undrafted free agency. They always seem to find some diamonds in the rough.

So who qualifies as a sleeper? Draft coverage is so oversaturated these days that even casual fans can recognize dozens of names, and some dedicated draftniks even have their own top-100 rankings (with the real sickos among them ranking hundreds of prospects).

To help thin out the herd, we’re only considering prospects who were ranked outside the top 150 at both NFL Mock Draft Database and Pro Football Network’s industry consensus big board. That gives us an opportunity to highlight some undersung players who should be available on Day 3 of this year’s event. These aren’t going to be perfect prospects, or even players who can step into a big role right away. The goal is to find guys with enough traits that can give them a shot at making the roster as a backup or on special teams, buying them time to develop into better pros.

Here are six underrated prospects we could see the Saints targeting on the draft’s third day:

9 sleepers to play in fantasy football for Week 1

Here are nine sleepers to consider starting in your fantasy football lineups for Week 1.

Dread it. Run from it. Destiny arrives all the same.

While Thanos (probably) wasn’t referring to fantasy football when he said that line, Week 1 is officially here. That means fantasy managers will begin their trek of controlling their own destiny and aspirations of winning a league title.

The draft season has come and gone in a blur. Now, it’s time to set the lineups and dominate your league-mates. Part of that process is finding the right sleepers week in and week out.

It’s the ultimate plan that every fantasy manager searches for. Fortunately, we’re here to help with this weekly sleepers article.

We will be using The Huddle’s weekly projections and rankings as a reference. In order to qualify as a sleeper, we are taking a look at quarterbacks ranked outside the top 12, running backs and wide receivers ranked outside the top 24, and tight ends ranked outside the top 10.

We’ve already taken a look at the top waiver wire targets and streaming options. Here are nine sleepers to play in fantasy football for Week 1:

Logan Thomas is the ultimate fantasy sleeper at tight end after activation from PUP list

The Commanders are getting a big part of their offense back.

The Washington Commanders just gained a key part of their team back Monday, activating tight end Logan Thomas from the physically unable to perform list.

Thomas hasn’t played since tearing an ACL and MCL against the Las Vegas Raiders on Dec. 5. Through six games, he was averaging a career-best 10.9 yards per catch, and he had three touchdowns, which finished in a tie for second-most on the team last season.

Before his injury-shortened 2021 season, Thomas had a breakout in 2020 with 72 catches for 670 yards and six touchdowns. He finished as the TE7 in standard fantasy leagues and TE3 in PPR leagues. According to ESPN’s John Keim, at the time of his injury, he led the NFL in red zone receiving yards during his time in Washington.

Now, it seems people are sleeping on his ability to come close to that form again. As of Monday, Thomas’ average draft position was 30th among tight ends, according to Fantasy Pros. In ESPN leagues, he’s only on 7.9% of rosters. Those are mistakes. There aren’t 29 tight ends who are going to have better seasons than a healthy Thomas. And now that he’s on the active roster, fantasy players should be hitting the waiver wires.

Part of my confidence in Thomas to have a bounce back year is Washington’s quarterback situation. He did what he did in 2020 with four different starting quarterbacks including the team’s Wild Card loss to the Bucs when Thomas caught five balls for 74 yards.

With Carson Wentz in town, the position is expected to be a lot more stable — even if imperfect. And while the jury is still out on Wentz, one thing he does well is get the ball to his tight ends. In each of his five years with the Eagles, between Zach Ertz and Dallas Goedert, a tight end was one of his two-most targeted receivers. And while that trend changed in a different offense in Indianapolis last season, tight end Mo Alie-Cox — most known for his blocking — had his most productive fantasy season as the TE24.

Now, Wentz will get to work with a receiving tight end again. And Thomas will work with the best quarterback he’s had since maybe Alex Smith. That should lead to a productive year for him.

Top 5 fantasy football quarterback sleepers: 2022 is Derek Carr’s big moment

These five quarterbacks could exceed expectations and have big years.

When I started this list, one of the first names that popped in my head was Jalen Hurts. The reason is because of how much his ability to throw the football has been dissected and picked apart. I wasn’t sure how much that infiltrated the thinking of fantasy managers and wanted to make clear that it shouldn’t.

But the reality is, Hurts finished ninth at his position in total fantasy points last season and sixth in average points. He simply shouldn’t be considered a sleeper.

A true sleeper is a player managers won’t likely consider for their teams because they haven’t yet posted big fantasy stats, but someone who might be on the verge of a breakout due to new circumstances. Let’s take a look at who those players might be in 2022.

9 sleepers in fantasy football for Week 13

Before setting your lineups, check out our 9 sleepers in fantasy football for Week 13!

The playoffs are just about here and fantasy football managers are focusing all of their energy on either making the playoffs or spoiling it for those who are. That’s where the sleepers come in.

Finding sleepers on a weekly basis is one of the most important and one of the most difficult aspects of fantasy football. Having that extra player go off in your starting lineup along with your studs is one of the best feelings in the world. One might even say it rivals the feeling of when the biggest guy in the gym calls you “big man.” It’s the ultimate serotonin booster.

In order to qualify as a sleeper, we will be using the expert consensus rankings (ECR) from FantasyPros. We’ll be taking a look at players ranked outside of the top-12 for quarterbacks and running backs, the top-24 for wide receivers and the top-10 for tight ends (adjusted for the utterly barren landscape).

Let’s take a quick look at nine sleepers in fantasy football for Week 13:

Every week, finding sleepers that will outperform their current value in fantasy football is the ultimate goal.

But as fantasy managers know, it’s more often that those sleepers we hope has a boom week winds up either with a middling weekly finish or they just wind up flopping in your starting lineup.

We’re here to help with that endeavor and while we won’t always be right, it’s the process that matters when it comes to finding sleepers on a weekly basis.

In order to qualify as a sleeper, we will be using the expert consensus rankings (ECR) from FantasyPros. Only players ranked outside of the top-12 for quarterbacks, running backs and wide receivers along with those outside the top-six tight ends (adjusted for the barren landscape) are considered.

Saints training camp: Sleepers to watch at each position on offense

Most of the New Orleans Saints roster is already set. While the team took some losses this offseason, a two-deep look across the depth chart doesn’t feature too many unfamiliar names. But if you dig a little deeper, you’ll see plenty of new players looking to seize new opportunities.

Training camp is still a month away, but some surprise candidates are already beginning to emerge. Here are some players to keep in mind as the summer marches on:
