Oklahoma Sooners vs. Baylor Bears All-Time Series History

Oklahoma gets set to host the Baylor Bears on Saturday on ESPN+. From @john9williams

Oklahoma and Baylor played one time in the early days of college football, back in 1901, and went 72 years before meeting on the gridiron again. Before the Big 12 was formed in 1996, the Sooners and the Bears only met five times, with the Sooners winning all five nonconference matchups.

Even during an era of football that is one of Oklahoma’s worst, the Sooners beat the Bears every time during the John Blake era. Oklahoma dominated the series until a fateful road trip to Waco in 2011 introduced the world to [autotag]Robert Griffin III[/autotag].

The Sooners were the No. 5 team in the nation at the time, and after the Sooners took a 24-17 early third-quarter lead, the Bears scored 21 unanswered points to go up 38-24. [autotag]Blake Bell[/autotag] scored two of his four rushing touchdowns in the fourth, the second with 51 seconds remaining in the game. It took [autotag]RGIII[/autotag] 43 seconds to march the Bears down the field for a last-minute touchdown to pull off Baylor’s first win over the Oklahoma Sooners ever.

Since 2011, the Sooners are 8-4 vs. the Bears, and the two sides have played some hard-fought games. Five of the 12 matchups have come down to 10 points or fewer, and even in the 2020 27-14 win, it was tightly contested for much of the game.

Series History: Wisconsin vs. Maryland

The short series history between the Wisconsin Badgers and Maryland Terrapins:

Despite the Maryland Terrapins being a member of the Big Ten, the Wisconsin Badgers have only played them three times since they joined the Conference in 2014. The first matchup between them was a 52-7 blowout in favor of the Badgers in October 2014.

Wisconsin has won all three matchups between the two sides including their latest game in 2017, where the Badgers beat the Terrapins 38-13 at Camp Randall Stadium. Former Wisconsin quarterback Alex Hornibrook had a solid game with 225 passing yards and two touchdowns while running back Jonathan Taylor racked up 128 yards on the ground and a rushing touchdown.

Hopefully, the Badgers can keep their winning streak alive on Saturday, as they will face a tough test against this year’s Maryland team that sits at 6-2 overall this season.

SERIES HISTORY: Alabama Crimson Tide vs. LSU Tigers

Alabama and LSU set to meet for the 87th time in series history Saturday night

The Crimson Tide are entering the final month of the regular season and the team has some work to do if it wants to keep its national title aspirations alive.

The first step is earning a massive win over LSU in Baton Rouge this weekend. This game will have massive implications as to who will represent the West in the SEC championship game against either Georgia or Tennessee.

Fortunately, Alabama has fared pretty well against the Tigers leading the all-time series 55-26-5. Alabama is currently riding a two-game win streak against LSU

In fact, Alabama has actually played very well in recent years against LSU as the Crimson Tide won 10 of the last 11 matchups and held LSU to an average of 13 points a game during that stretch.

While LSU will have the benefit of a primetime game in Baton Rouge, Alabama enters the match-up as a two-touchdown favorite. We all know how much Nick Saban likes to take on his former employer.

What happened the last five times LSU beat Alabama?

LSU’s wins have been few and far between since Nick Saban was hired at Alabama, but they’ve all been memorable.

Alabama has fairly inarguably been LSU’s biggest rival in football over the last 15 years since the program hired former Tigers national title-winning coach Nick Saban.

However, the temperature of a rivalry doesn’t really depend on how competitive the series is. After all, Alabama leads the all-time series 55-26-5 and has dropped this game just four times since Saban was hired in 2007.

The Crimson Tide are in the midst of an especially dominant stretch, and when the two teams face off in Tiger Stadium on Saturday in a game that could determine the SEC West, LSU will be looking for just its second win in the series since 2011.

With that in mind, here’s what happens the last five times the Tigers came out victorious in this rivalry, beginning with perhaps the most iconic game in series history.

Arkansas Football: Razorbacks hoping to close the gap in series with Auburn

Arkansas hoping to end Auburn’s six-game win streak in the series matchup.

The two schools are separated by 700 miles, and before Arkansas joined the SEC in 1991, they had only played the Auburn Tigers once in the 1984 Liberty Bowl.

Auburn currently holds the lead in the series with 19 wins out of 31 contests. The Tigers are also on a six-game win streak over the Razorbacks. The last time the Razorbacks defeated the Tigers was in 2015, a 54-46 quadruple overtime thriller.

Cole Hedlund gave Arkansas the lead with a minute remaining, but Auburn used eight plays to set up a 41-yard field goal that tied the game with four seconds left. From there, it was back and forth before Brandon Allen connected with Drew Morgan for the touchdown and Kody Walker for the two-point conversion.

Ironically, the first time the two teams met as SEC members ended up being a tie on Halloween.

This weekend, the Razorbacks have the upper hand, despite only winning one more game than the Tigers. We can critique Arkansas’s performance this season as mediocre, but unlike Auburn, they have played the most brutal schedule in college football and had real opportunities to win every game. Don’t be surprised if the Tigers’ streak ends this weekend.

Series history: Broncos and Jaguars look to break series tie

Broncos Wire examines the series history between the Denver Broncos and the Jacksonville Jaguars

As the Denver Broncos and Jacksonville Jaguars arrive across the pond in England, Broncos Wire takes a look at the series history between the two teams.

The Jaguars were an expansion team in 1993, and since that time, these franchises have only met a total of 14 times. The all-time record stands at a 7-7 tie, including two playoff games.

Broncos quarterback Russell Wilson (should he be healthy enough to start) also has a .500 record against Jacksonville, going 1-1 during his career in Seattle.

In two trips to London, Denver has found themselves 0-2 all-time. The last time the Broncos were in London, then-head coach Josh McDaniels was accused of spying on the San Francisco 49ers’ practice, a method surely taken from the playbook of his mentor, New England Patriots coach Bill Belichick.  “McSpyGate,” as it was dubbed, ended McDaniels’ miserable tenure in Denver.

In the last meeting between the Broncos and Jaguars, quarterback Teddy Bridgewater led Denver by completing 26 of 34 passes for 328 yards and two touchdowns. The Broncos defense intercepted Trevor Lawrence twice in a 23-13 Denver victory in Florida.

Let’s hope for a similar outcome, even if it is a different venue.

Broncos vs. Jets series history: Denver holds an all-time edge

The Broncos own a 22-16-1 lead in the all-time series against the Jets, including wins in their last two showdowns.

After back-to-back overtime losses, the Denver Broncos will look to right the flagging ship at home against the 4-2 New York Jets in Week 7.

The Jets have been a surprising team across the NFL landscape, coming into Denver fresh off a beatdown of the Green Bay Packers. Broncos head coach Nathaniel Hackett looks to have better luck than his former team.

During their histories, Denver holds an all-time record of 22-16-1 against New York.

In Week 3 of the 2021 season, the Broncos pitched their only shutout of the year against the Jets, a 26-0 rout. Denver picked off then-rookie New York quarterback Zach Wilson twice, with safety Justin Simmons sealing the victory with an interception late in the fourth quarter.

Broncos quarterback Teddy Bridgewater went 19-of-25 for 235 yards and no touchdowns. Denver was aided by rushing touchdowns from running backs Melvin Gordon and Javonte Williams in the victory.

The Broncos come into this meeting with one of the worst red zone offenses in the NFL and one of the top defenses. Can they fix the offensive woes this week? Tune in Sunday!

SERIES HISTORY: Last 10 meetings between Alabama and Mississippi State

Alabama Football is set to take on Mississippi State in a Week 8 matchup between two ranked SEC West teams with some divisional ranking …

Alabama is set to face the Mississippi State Bulldogs at home in Bryant-Denny Stadium just one week after losing to the Tennessee Volunteers for the first time in 15 years.

Oddly enough, a win over Mississippi State this week would extend the Crimson Tide’s active win streak to 15 games.

Mississippi State has looked promising under Mike Leach, and the team will enter this contest ranked inside the top 25. There’s only one problem for the Bulldogs: they face an Alabama team that just came off of an extremely ugly loss. This isn’t the first time Mississippi State has faced these conditions. Actually, it’s happened multiple times and it’s never once fared well for them.

Here are the last 10, lopsided meetings between Alabama and Mississippi State.

Series History: Wisconsin vs. Purdue

The series history between the Wisconsin Badgers and Purdue Boilermakers:

On Saturday afternoon, the Wisconsin Badgers will face off against the Purdue Boilermakers for the 89th time in the 130-year-old rivalry. The Badgers fell on the road 4-32 in their first matchup against the Boilermakers all the way back in 1892.

Wisconsin has faired better against Purdue in recent years, as the Badgers have won the last 10 games between them. They won their most recent matchup on the road last season, in a 30-13 victory over the Boilermakers. Wisconsin running backs Chez Mellusi and Braelon Allen both had monster a game, combining for 297 yards on the ground and three touchdowns.

Hopefully, the Badgers can continue their winning streak against the Boilermakers this week and serve as a potential spoiler to Purdue’s Big Ten West championship aspirations.

Dawgs on top: Georgia-Vanderbilt series history

Kirby Smart and Georgia football enter the 2022 Vanderbilt as big favorites over the Commodores.

The Georgia Bulldogs and Vanderbilt Commodores have battled on the football field dating back to 1893. Georgia has dominated the series in recent memory, however, Vanderbilt began the series as the top team.

Georgia has won the last four games in the SEC East series. The Bulldogs and Commodores have played 81 total games in their history. Among SEC East foes, the Bulldogs have only played the Florida Gators more.

Kirby Smart and Georgia football enter the 2022 Vanderbilt as heavy favorites over the Commodores. Let’s take a look back at the series history between the two schools:
