Broncos vs. Cardinals series history: Denver has dominated Arizona

Broncos have dominated Cardinals historically, holding a 9-1-1 lead in the all-time series that dates back to the Cards’ time in St. Louis.

The Denver Broncos’ 2022 season has been disappointing, to say the least. However, there is some hope in their next game against the Arizona Cardinals.

Both teams come into the Week 15 matchup below .500. The Broncos come into the game with a 3-10 record, while the Cardinals are 4-9. Both teams have defied expectations this season, in the worst ways.

Denver’s offense has struggled mightily, with quarterback Russell Wilson throwing only 11 touchdown passes in the course of the season, with tremendous struggles in the red zone.

Arizona has also struggled, despite signing their signal-caller Kyler Murray being signed to a massive deal during the offseason (sounds familiar).

The Broncos have dominated the all-time series against the Cardinals, with a 9-1-1 record that dates back to their first meeting in 1973.

The last time these teams played in the regular season, it was in 2018. During that game, rookie Courtland Sutton was on the receiving end of an Emmanuel Sanders touchdown pass, and the Denver defense scored two touchdowns en route to a 45-10 victory over a Josh Rosen-led Arizona squad.

Can this be a chance for the Broncos to get their first win on American soil since Week 3? We shall see!

Saints vs. Buccaneers all-time record: Both teams have history, but it’s far from a rivalry

The Saints and Buccaneers have a history, but it’s far from a rivalry. The Saints haven’t lost at Tampa Bay since Jameis Winston was the opposing QB:

There’s history between the New Orleans Saints and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and we’re about to see the next chapter being written on Monday night. But it’s hard to call it a rivalry when the Saints have dominated this matchup over the years, winning 39 of 62 games against the Buccaneers (including the playoffs).

New Orleans has an all-time winning percentage of .639 against the Bucs, second-highest among all of their opponents (they’ve hit .714 against the Jacksonville Jaguars, but across only 7 games). No team has played the Saints more often and lost more frequently. It’s not competitive enough to call it a rivalry.

In fact, they’ve won their last four in a row when traveling to Tampa Bay. The Saints are 14-7 at Raymond James Stadium, having won their last four games in a row at Tampa Bay (that venue opened in 1998; if we include games played prior to that milestone, New Orleans is 18-9 against the Buccaneers on the road). The Bucs haven’t beaten the Saints on their home turf since Jameis Winston was their starting quarterback.

And that game was a near thing. It was the 2017 regular season finale, with the Saints defending a 1-point lead in the game’s final minute — when Winston stepped up to throw a 39-yard touchdown pass to Chris Godwin with 9 seconds left on the clock. It was a big-time throw and catch in a huge moment. Maybe things could have gone differently if the Buccaneers hadn’t ditched Winston to go win a Mickey Mouse ring with Tom Brady, but this is the future they chose. Let’s see if Brady can finally win a home game against the Saints on Monday night.

Broncos vs. Ravens series history: Denver aiming for upset

The #Ravens lead the all-time series against the #Broncos 9-6, including a 23-7 Baltimore win last year.

There’s no sugarcoating the truth: This has been a rough season for the 2022 Denver Broncos. Things are going to be a bit harder this week for them going up to the AFC North-leading Baltimore Ravens.

The Ravens come into Week 13 with a 7-4 record, while Denver comes in with an opposite 3-8 record. The Broncos have only scored more than 20 points in two of their games, while Baltimore has scored less than 20 in only two of their contests.

During the all-time series history, the Ravens hold a 9-6-0 overall advantage over Denver. The most recent meeting between these two teams occurred in 2021.

Former Broncos quarterback Drew Lock stepped in after a Teddy Bridgewater injury, and current Denver running back Latavius Murray led the Baltimore rushing attack with 59 yards and a touchdown on 18 carries in a 23-7 Ravens win.

Denver will look to avoid a fourth-straight loss, fresh off their biggest defeat of the season. Will they put together a fight against a top team in the AFC?

Broncos vs. Panthers series history: Denver leads 6-1 since 1997

The #Broncos lead the all-time series against the #Panthers 6-1, including a 24-10 victory in #SB50.

After one-score losses to the Las Vegas Raiders and Tennessee Titans in back-to-back weeks, the Denver Broncos will look to bounce back against the Carolina Panthers in Week 12.

During the all-time series, the Broncos hold a commanding 6-1 lead over the Panthers. Both teams head into Sunday’s matchup with abysmal records (3-7 and 3-8), and Carolina fired their head coach earlier in the 2022 season.

The last time these two teams played was during the 2020 season. Denver quarterback Drew Lock had one of his best games as a pro, going 21-of-27 passing for 280 yards and four touchdowns in a 32-27 Broncos win. KJ Hamler caught two touchdowns and the Denver defense held off a Teddy Bridgewater-led Panthers charge to preserve the victory.

Of course, the most memorable game between these two teams was Super Bowl 50 in San Francisco. The “No-Fly Zone” defense smothered former Carolina quarterback Cam Newton, with then-Broncos linebacker Von Miller forcing two sack-fumbles and eventually winning the game’s MVP award. Current Denver kicker Brandon McManus is the only remaining player from that special team left with the franchise.

Since that time, both teams have been looking for signs of life. In the years following the 2015 title game, Denver has failed to win more than 10 games, desperately seeking a franchise quarterback to follow in the footsteps of Peyton Manning. Meanwhile, the Panthers have only made one other playoff appearance in that time (2017).

My, how those times have changed.

Series History: Wisconsin vs. Nebraska

The series history between the Wisconsin Badgers and Nebraska Cornhuskers:

The Wisconsin Badgers will continue their road trip to face Nebraska Cornhuskers for the 16th time in their history. This renewed rivalry started all the way back in 1901 when the Badgers bested the Cornhuskers 18-0 at Camp Randall Stadium.

Wisconsin has also won nine of the last ten matchups between them, including a winning streak in their previous eight games. In November of last year, the Badgers beat Nebraska 35-28. Running back Braelon Allen had a monster game finishing with 228 rushing yards and three touchdowns.

Hopefully, the Badgers can make their winning streak into nine games against the Cornhuskers this week and bring home the Freedom Trophy.

Below are photos from some of the most recent matchups between the Wisconsin Badgers and Nebraska Cornhuskers:

Broncos vs. Raiders series history: Denver still seeking first AFC West win of 2022

The Denver Broncos will look to save their season in this critical Week 11 matchup at home against the Las Vegas Raiders.

The last time the Denver Broncos played the Las Vegas Raiders, they walked out of Allegiant Stadium after a 32-23 defeat. Since then, both teams have faced a lion’s share of adversity.

Since the Week 4 matchup, the Broncos and Raiders have each gone 1-4. Both Denver head coach Nathaniel Hackett and Las Vegas head coach Josh McDaniels have come under scrutiny and hot seat projections due to flagging offenses.

Both teams have experienced significant injury issues. The Broncos’ offensive line has been decimated and the Raiders are missing two of their biggest targets in Hunter Renfrow and Darren Waller on injured reserve.

The Denver defense is coming off a week holding Tennessee Titans running back Derrick Henry to only 53 yards rushing. In Week 4, Las Vegas running back Josh Jacobs ran for 144 yards and two touchdowns. This time, Pat Surtain and Co. will look to hold Jacobs, Derek Carr and Devante Adams to fewer points in a make-or-break rematch for both teams.

Russell Wilson and the Broncos’ offense are also looking to score at least 18 points. Odds are, the first team to 18 is going to win this game.

SERIES HISTORY: Alabama and Ole Miss over the past decade

All-time series history between Alabama and Ole Miss

After a gut-wrenching loss on the road to the LSU Tigers last week, it appears as if the Crimson Tide have been eliminated from the college football playoffs. The loss is the Tide’s second of the season and no team has ever lost twice and still qualified for the playoffs.

Regardless, Alabama has a tough test this weekend as the Tide travel to No. 11 Ole Miss for the Tide’s final road game. The Tide has fared very well against Ole Miss, leading the all-time series 53-10-2. Alabama has won six straight against the Rebels including a 42-21 win in Bryant-Denny Stadium last season.

The last time the Tide traveled to Oxford, it was no easy out as Alabama hung on to win 63-48, but it was one of the poorest defensive performances of the Nick Saban era.

Former Alabama offensive coordinator, Lane Kiffin, has done an outstanding job since taking over for the Rebels posting a 32-23 record and recruiting incredibly well. However, this is the one weekend in the fall that everyone in Tuscaloosa will actively be cheering against Lane.

Broncos vs. Titans series history: Denver looks to make up ground

The Titans lead the all-time series against the Broncos 24-18-1, but Denver has had some great moments against the Oilers/Titans.

The Denver Broncos are coming off a week’s worth of R&R and an additional week of preparation in face of their Week 10 matchup against the Tennessee Titans.

This series has some amazing history behind it, going back to the Titan’s days as the Houston Oilers. On January 4, 1992, Broncos quarterback John Elway engineered a game-winning drive against the Oilers from his own 2-yard line. The scenario was dubbed “The Drive, Part II.” During that sequence of events, Elway converted two 4th downs of five or more yards.

Later on, long after their move to Tennessee, Denver made some NFL history along the way. During Peyton Manning’s tenure behind center and deep into the record-setting 2013 season, kicker Matt Prater converted a then-NFL record 64-yard field goal en-route to a 51-28 beatdown of Tennessee.

The Titans, however, lead the all-time series 24-18-1. The Broncos will look to bring their season back on track during this crucial Week 10 game, which will be an 11 am MT kickoff on Sunday.

USA TODAY Sports updated bowl projections for the Crimson Tide, CFP

Where is Alabama projected to play in the bowl season after LSU loss?

The Alabama Crimson Tide has not yet been officially eliminated from the college football playoff after suffering their second loss of the season to the LSU Tigers, but the chances are slim. With some help, the Crimson Tide could make the SEC championship game, however, no two-loss team has ever made the playoffs.

This would only be the second time since the inception of the playoffs in 2014 that the Crimson Tide will not take part.

Clemson also suffered a loss on Saturday that will likely keep them out of the playoffs. It would be the first time ever that we would have a playoff without either Alabama or Clemson in it.

USA TODAY Sports has released its updated bowl and playoff projections at the conclusion of Week 10 and ironically, they predict Alabama and Clemson to meet in Orange Bowl in Miami, Florida on Dec. 30.

Alabama and Clemson have previously met in the postseason during the 2016, 2017, 2018 and 2019 seasons – all in the college football playoffs, so the stakes will be a bit different this year. The two programs have split those four previous match-ups 2-2, but the Tide leads the all-time series 14-5

The door to the college football playoff remains wide open, especially after this weekend. Headed into Week 11 USA TODAYS Sports predicts the playoffs to be Georgia vs. TCU in Peach Bowl and Ohio State vs. Oregon in the Fiesta Bowl.

Oklahoma Sooners vs. Baylor Bears All-Time Series History

Oklahoma gets set to host the Baylor Bears on Saturday on ESPN+. From @john9williams

Oklahoma and Baylor played one time in the early days of college football, back in 1901, and went 72 years before meeting on the gridiron again. Before the Big 12 was formed in 1996, the Sooners and the Bears only met five times, with the Sooners winning all five nonconference matchups.

Even during an era of football that is one of Oklahoma’s worst, the Sooners beat the Bears every time during the John Blake era. Oklahoma dominated the series until a fateful road trip to Waco in 2011 introduced the world to [autotag]Robert Griffin III[/autotag].

The Sooners were the No. 5 team in the nation at the time, and after the Sooners took a 24-17 early third-quarter lead, the Bears scored 21 unanswered points to go up 38-24. [autotag]Blake Bell[/autotag] scored two of his four rushing touchdowns in the fourth, the second with 51 seconds remaining in the game. It took [autotag]RGIII[/autotag] 43 seconds to march the Bears down the field for a last-minute touchdown to pull off Baylor’s first win over the Oklahoma Sooners ever.

Since 2011, the Sooners are 8-4 vs. the Bears, and the two sides have played some hard-fought games. Five of the 12 matchups have come down to 10 points or fewer, and even in the 2020 27-14 win, it was tightly contested for much of the game.
