2024 five-star WR Ryan Wingo sets summer official visit dates

Five-star wide receiver Ryan Wingo is setting up a busy summer of official visits.

2024 five-star wide receiver Ryan Wingo is setting up a busy summer of official visits. The Saint Louis native plans to go to Georgia, Michigan, Texas and Missouri.

The 247Sports’ composite lists Wingo as the No. 22 overall player in the nation and the No. 5 wide receiver in the class. He has more than 40 offers from programs all over the country.

Wingo is a two-sport star who excels on both the football field and the track. He possesses the elite top-end speed to stretch the field as a downfield threat and strong hands as a pass catcher. Wingo has the skills to be an immediate contributor at the college level.

The recruiting battle for Wingo is set to be a tight one. Georgia is the current favorite to land the elite pass catcher, but the competition can gain ground with the upcoming visits. He has no timetable for a commitment.

Five-star 2024 WR will take an official visit to Michigan

Will be hard to beat Georgia, but anything is possible! #GoBlue

Michigan football is currently crushing the 2024 recruiting trail and is ranked first in the country. The Wolverines have 14 commits in the class and the big fish is five-star quarterback Jadyn Davis.

The Wolverines have two tight ends committed but Michigan has zero wide receivers for 2024 as of this writing. The maize and blue are in on several receivers though and it appears Michigan is in the mix to land a five-star receiver.

According to On3 Recruits on Twitter, five-star receiver Ryan Wingo set up four official visits for the month of June. Wingo will visit Georgia, Michigan (June 9), Texas, and Missouri in that order.

According to 247Sports Composite rankings, Wingo 22nd-ranked player in the country and the fifth-ranked wide receiver in the 2024 class. He has good size at 6-foot-2 and 205-pounds.

Wingo hails from Saint Louis (MO) St. Louis University. He currently has one Crystal Ball prediction in for Georgia and that’s from 247Sports National Recruiting Analyst Steve Wiltfong.

Usually, if a player sets up an official visit, that means they have an interest in a team. The class Michigan is currently building for 2024 is special and it helps when you have a five-star quarterback to help recruit. You can bet Jadyn Davis will be in Wingo’s ear to head to Ann Arbor.

Here is Allen Trieu’s scouting background on Wingo:

Track background that includes a 10.55 in the 100-meter dash as a sophomore and a 21.31 200. Comes from a running back family but has the speed and pass-catching ability to play receiver or see a hybrid role in college. And has a leaner, high-cut build where he can play receiver but could also still motion into the backfield and be handed the ball some. Not only has track speed but has some wiggle, although he runs by defenders more than he makes them miss in a phone booth. That twitch can be seen as a route-runner also. Catches the ball well away from his frame and tracks it well over the shoulder. Is a good route runner currently but can still continue to add more craft and diversify his route tree as he gets older. Dangerous return man who can continue being a kick returner in college. Not the kind of player that has to be put in a box — he is an offensive threat and scoreboard changer at the next level no matter how he touches the ball. Likely a future high draft choice with his combination of size, verified speed and versatility.

Tennessee football recruiting: Vols’ top 2024 wide receiver targets

The Vols have the No. 9 overall recruiting class and No. 5 recruiting class in the Southeastern Conference, according to the On3 consensus.

Tennessee landed its first wide receiver commitment with Harrell. Harrell is the No. 13 wide receiver in the class of 2024, according to On3.

2024 4-Star WR Ryan Wingo visiting Alabama for Junior Day

2024 wide receiver Ryan Wingo received an offer from Alabama in February. He is set to take his first visit to Tuscaloosa for Junior Day this weekend.

Four-star wide receiver Ryan Wingo of the 2024 recruiting class is scheduled to be in attendance for Alabama’s Junior Day over the weekend. It will be the first time that Wingo has visited Alabama since being offered in early February.

Wingo plays wide receiver at St. Louis University School in Saint Louis, Missouri. He is listed at 6-foot-2, 205 pounds, according to 247Sports. During his junior season, Wingo hauled in 41 receptions for 785 receiving yards and 13 touchdowns.

He flashes top-end speed and does a good job of creating separation. 247Sports’ Alan Trieu compared Wingo to former Michigan wide receiver Donovan Peoples-Jones.

Wingo has a track background after having ran a 10.55 in the 100-meter dash as a sophomore. His versatility and pure speed can help explain why 40 programs have offered him up to this point.

His brother, Ronnie Wingo Jr., played running back at Arkansas from 2009-2012. That could explain why Wingo is so dynamic with the ball in his hands.

Wingo has taken three unofficial visits to Fayetteville. He has also taken five visits to Notre Dame and three to Tennessee. According to On3’s RPM, Tennessee has the best chance of landing Wingo’s commitment at 46.9%.

Alabama is hoping to make a surge in his recruitment in order to give themselves the best chance to land the nation’s No. 4 wide receiver.

Roll Tide Wire will continue to follow Alabama football recruiting.

Alabama offers 2024 4-Star WR Ryan Wingo

Ryan Wingo received an offer from Alabama on Monday. He is ranked higher than No. 35 in the entire country on every recruiting site.

Alabama football extended an offer to 2024 wide receiver Ryan Wingo. Wingo is ranked inside the top 30 on every recruiting circuit.

The native of Saint Louis, Missouri already holds 40 offers. 247Sports’ Alan Trieu compared Wingo to former Michigan Wolverine Donovan Peoples-Jones.

As a sophomore, Wingo hauled in 32 receptions for 636 receiving yards and nine touchdowns.

Wingo’s brother, Ronnie, played running back at Arkansas from 2009-2012. The line of success will look to continue with Wingo being sought-out by the majority of the power-five programs in the country.

At this time, Tennessee has a 47.0% likelihood to land Wingo, according to On3’s RPM. He has taken three trips to Knoxville up to this point. Alabama will look to have Wingo in Tuscaloosa for a visit in the coming months or possibly during the fall.

Every wide receiver offered by the Oklahoma Sooners in the 2024 recruiting cycle

Who are the Oklahoma Sooners targeting at wide receiver in the 2024 recruiting cycle?

The wide receiver position at Oklahoma has provided some fantastic production over the years. Big-name players like Sterling Shepard, CeeDee Lamb, and Marquise Brown are still having success at the NFL level.

Marvin Mims is the latest player to breakout, recording the first 1,000-yard season of his career in 2022. Jalil Farooq didn’t have as big a season as Mims, but he became an integral part of the offense in both the pass and run games.

In the 2022 recruiting cycle, the Oklahoma Sooners signed two four-star talents like the towering Jayden Gibson and Nic Anderson. In 2023, Oklahoma added four-star prospects Jaquaize Pettaway and Keyon Brown to the wide receiver depth chart.

The Oklahoma Sooners will look to build off of the depth they’ve already created by adding to the talent in the 2024 recruiting class. They’ve already received predictions to land four-star speedster Mario Craver out of Alabama.

Though we’re still a long way from the 2024 early signing period, here are the wide receivers they’ve targeted thus far in the cycle.

5-star WR talks ‘fun’ first Clemson visit, new offer from Tigers

A five-star prospect, ranked among the nation’s top wide receivers in his class, traveled to Tiger Town this past weekend.

Ryan Wingo, one of the country’s highest-rated 2024 prospects regardless of position, made his first-ever visit to Clemson for Saturday’s game against Miami.

In fact, it was the first time the St. Louis (Mo.) University High standout has been in the Palmetto State.

“It was fun. I had a lot of fun,” Wingo said of the Clemson visit in an interview with The Clemson Insider. “I got a few fan interactions and stuff like that. I also was there with my friends, so that also made it fun. I got offered, also, so that was a big thing as well. So, it was a fun visit.”

Dabo Swinney extended the aforementioned scholarship offer to Wingo, making the 6-foot-2, 200-pound junior just the third receiver in the 2024 class to pick up an offer from Swinney’s program.

“I was talking to Coach Swinney before the game, and he ended up offering me then,” Wingo said. “My reaction was, I really can’t even explain it. It was a good reaction for sure, because they were just telling me how they don’t really offer a lot of people and stuff like that. So, when I was hearing that, it just made it even better that I was getting the offer then.”

Heading into the visit, Wingo had already checked the boxes the Tigers look for in a recruit before pulling the trigger on an offer. He only had to cross off one other box, which was simply getting on campus for the first time.

“What they were saying was I kind of filled all the boxes as a player, person, off the field, on the field, stuff like that,” Wingo said. “And the last box was me getting up there, seeing the place, and he was like, you filled out the last box, so now the rest is on us to get you to get here.”

Wingo was accompanied on the visit by his dad, his trainer and a couple of teammates, among others with family ties.

“I’m quite sure they liked it as well,” Wingo said of their Clemson experience. “From just the few words everybody was saying, they all enjoyed themselves.”

For Wingo personally, the visit was highlighted by one particular interaction he had with Clemson fans at the game.

“It was like these dudes holding up ‘We want Ryan Wingo’ on their phone,” he said. “So, that probably was the highlight.

“It was like a text in big letters, like ‘We want Ryan Wingo.’ It was pretty cool.”

Wingo will head to Missouri this weekend for its game vs. Arkansas. He has also attended games at a slew of other schools this season, including Ohio State, Texas A&M, Tennessee, Arkansas, Kentucky, Notre Dame, Penn State, Michigan, LSU and Ole Miss.

Wingo, who lists close to 40 offers, said his recruitment is “pretty wide open” right now.

“But as time goes, I think I’ll eventually hopefully get something out,” he added, alluding to a top schools list.

Now that he’s visited Clemson and scored an offer from the Tigers, can he see them being heavily in the mix for his commitment down the road?

“Yes sir, for sure,” he said.

Wingo is rated as a five-star prospect by Rivals and the 247Sports Composite. He is ranked as high as the No. 2 wide receiver and No. 6 overall prospect in the country for the 2024 class by Rivals, while the 247Sports Composite considers him the No. 3 receiver and No. 14 overall prospect in the class.

5-star WR enjoys first Clemson visit, collects offer

The headliner among the juniors that Clemson hosted for the Miami game this past weekend was Ryan Wingo, a five-star prospect ranked among the nation’s top receivers and top players in the 2024 class regardless of position.

It was the first-ever visit to Clemson for the St. Louis (Mo.) University High standout, and also his first time being in the Palmetto State.

Wingo told The Clemson Insider he had “a lot of fun” on the visit between interacting with fans, being at Clemson with friends and collecting an offer from the Tigers while on campus. He was accompanied on the visit by his dad, a couple of teammates and his trainer, among others close with his family.

Dabo Swinney himself gave the scholarship offer to Wingo before the game, making the 6-foot-2, 200-pound junior just the third receiver in the 2024 class to pick up an offer from Swinney’s program.

While getting that offer was certainly one of the best parts of the visit for Wingo, he pointed to one particular interaction he had with fans as the highlight.

“I think the highlight was probably the fan interaction I got. It was like these dudes holding up, ‘We want Ryan Wingo,’ on their phone and stuff. So, that probably was the highlight,” he said.

Now that he’s visited Clemson and gotten an offer from the Tigers, are they a team he can see being heavily in the mix for his commitment down the road?

“Yes sir, for sure,” he said.

Wingo is rated as a five-star prospect by Rivals and the 247Sports Composite. He is ranked as high as the No. 2 wide receiver and No. 6 overall prospect in the country for the 2024 class by Rivals, while the 247Sports Composite considers him the No. 3 receiver and No. 14 overall prospect in the class.

TCI will publish the full story from our interview with Wingo in the morning.

5-star Georgia OL has ‘great’ visit to Clemson

Wingo wasn’t the only five-star prospect that Clemson played host to Saturday.

Another five-star on hand for the game vs. Miami was Mason Short, an offensive lineman in the 2025 class from Evans (Ga.) High School.

The 6-foot-6, 285-pound sophomore, who already holds more than a dozen scholarship offers, told TCI he had a “great” visit.

“I would have to say the highlight would be the coaches inviting me to stand by Howard’s Rock as the team ran down the hill,” he said.

Short’s family accompanied him to Tiger Town and all thought the visit was great, too, he said.

According to Short – the nation’s No. 3 offensive tackle and No. 28 overall prospect in the country for his class, per the 247Sports Composite – Clemson coaches told him they like what they’ve seen from him and will continue to monitor him in the spring.

Short said it would be “an honor” to receive an offer from the Tigers in the future. His current offer list includes schools such as Alabama, Florida, Florida State, Georgia, Ohio State, Penn State, South Carolina and Tennessee.

The latest on nation’s No. 1 LB, priority Clemson target

Keeping with the theme of five-star recruits, TCI has the latest on a priority Clemson target in the 2024 class – Jefferson (Ga.) five-star Sammy Brown, the nation’s top-ranked linebacker in his class.

Brown, who picked up Clemson’s first class of 2024 offer back in March, told us he’s been communicating pretty regularly with defensive coordinator/linebackers coach Wes Goodwin and also speaks with head coach Dabo Swinney every couple of weeks or so.

According to Brown, the Tigers are among the suitors recruiting him the hardest right now, along with Georgia, Tennessee, Oklahoma, Notre Dame and Ohio State.

The 6-foot-2, 227-pound junior has made a couple of visits to Death Valley this season, most recently for the Oct. 1 NC State game after attending the Sept. 10 game vs. Furman, where both of his parents went to college.

Could Brown be back in The Valley this Saturday when the Tigers take on the Gamecocks?

“We’ve thought about making it to the South Carolina game (this) weekend,” he told TCI.

Brown has also been to Ohio State, Georgia and Tennessee this season.

Clemson Baseball reunion a huge hit

On Friday night, Erik Bakich and Clemson Baseball had a reunion that was a big hit. They hit the golf course during the day and had a nice dinner Friday night.

Over 300 former Tigers were in attendance, including a number of Hall of Famers. Brad Miller received his Clemson Hall of Fame jacket during the event.

Everyone in attendance could see how much the program has changed under Bakich. Jack Leggett was in attendance and has an extra pep in his step these days.
