Sean McVay gives update on Rob Havenstein’s status for Week 13 vs. Saints

Rob Havenstein has missed the last three games with an ankle injury but he’s “trending towards” playing against the Saints on Sunday

The Los Angeles Rams have missed Rob Havenstein in their last three games. He’s been sidelined by an ankle injury, which he suffered in the team’s Week 9 win over the Seattle Seahawks.

He’s been making progress despite his recovery taking longer than expected, getting in two limited practices on Thursday and Friday last week. Barring a setback, it appears he’s on track to play against the New Orleans Saints this week.

Sean McVay said Tuesday that the Rams “do expect to get Rob Havenstein back,” which is great news.

“There is,” McVay said of whether there’s a chance Havenstein will play. “I think he’s trending towards that being more likely than less. We’ll see how practice goes tomorrow, but that’s the plan.”

Havenstein has missed four games this season, and the Rams have gone just 1-3 in those contests. Both Warren McClendon Jr. and Joe Noteboom have helped fill in for him during those absences, with McClendon starting the last two games against the Patriots and Eagles.

Saquon Barkley runs the Rams out of SoFi Stadium, carrying the Eagles to their 7th straight win

A sea of Eagles fans took over SoFi Stadium, carrying Philadelphia to its 7th straight win on Sunday night as Saquon Barkley rushed for 255 yards on the night

The Eagles are 9-2 and have won seven straight games after Saquon Barkley exploded in the running game, and A.J. Brown was dominant in the passing game. Philadelphia put the league on notice with a 37-20 win at SoFi Stadium on Sunday.

If not for a late Matthew Stafford touchdown pass to Cooper Kupp, Philadelphia would have exited Los Angeles with a 37-14 road win just seven days before a monster matchup with the Baltimore Ravens in Week 13.

Barkley rushed for 255 yards on the night and had 302 total yards of offense in a game that saw A.J. Brown log 109 yards receiving and a touchdown on seven targets.

Will Rob Havenstein play this week? Injury updates for Rams RT

Rams RT Rob Havenstein is dealing with an ankle injury. Here are the latest updates heading into Week 12.

The Los Angeles Rams have been without starting right tackle Rob Havenstein for the last two games after he suffered an ankle injury in Week 9. Joe Noteboom replaced him in Week 10 but it was Warren McClendon Jr. who filled in (and played well) against the New England Patriots on Sunday afternoon.

Sean McVay shared an update on Havenstein during his media session Monday and it was a positive one. It sounds like Havenstein has a shot to return this week against the Eagles when the Rams host their 8-2 foes on Sunday Night Football.

Rob Havenstein injury update

McVay told reporters that Havenstein is trending in the right direction and there’s a chance he’ll play against Philadelphia.

“There’s a possibility. I think he’s trending in the right direction,” McVay said of Havenstein. “We’ll take it a day at a time. He’s one of those guys like we’ve talked about with some of these veterans, he really understands his body but I know he’s chomping at the bit to get back out there, and he is going to do everything in his power to do that. We just want to make sure that he’s ready to go, but he’s trending in that being a possibility.”

How long will Rob Havenstein be out?

Havenstein has been out for the last two weeks and has missed three total games this year, including the season opener. It’s unclear how much longer he’ll be out but there’s a possibility he’ll be back this week.

Noteboom missed Week 10 with an ankle injury, which was his first game back from injured reserve. McClendon filled in for Havenstein on Sunday and played well, allowing zero sacks or pressures.

Rams will likely be down to their 3rd-string RT on Sunday vs. Patriots

Rob Havenstein is out and Joe Noteboom is doubtful, meaning the Rams will likely be down to their 3rd-string RT on Sunday

Another week, another new offensive line combination for the Los Angeles Rams.

Sean McVay told reporters on Friday that starting right tackle Rob Havenstein has been ruled out for the second straight game due to an ankle injury suffered in Week 9. It’ll be his third missed game of the season, which certainly hurts the Rams heading into Sunday’s matchup with the New England Patriots.

Additionally, Joe Noteboom is considered doubtful to play after he aggravated his ankle injury in Monday night’s loss to the Dolphins. Noteboom missed seven games in a row from Week 2-9 before returning from IR on Monday, only to now injure his ankle again.

As a result of both players likely being out, the Rams will turn to Warren McClendon Jr. at right tackle. McClendon has started two games this season, one at right tackle in Week 1 and another at left tackle in Week 2. He also filled in for Havenstein in Week 9 after he went down, playing 19 snaps in the win over Seattle.

The Rams have been without Havenstein before, but the right side of the line always suffers when he’s not in the starting lineup. They’ll miss him on Sunday, especially with Keion White rushing off the edge for New England.

Sean McVay shares injury update on Rob Havenstein for Week 11

Rams RT Rob Havenstein is dealing with an ankle injury and it doesn’t sound likely that he’ll play this weekend

The Los Angeles Rams sorely missed Rob Havenstein in Monday’s loss to the Miami Dolphins. He was sidelined by an ankle injury suffered in Week 9, causing him to miss his second game of the season.

Before practice on Wednesday, Sean McVay shared an update on his big right tackle for this week’s game against the New England Patriots and the outlook isn’t great. McVay told reporters that it’s possible Havenstein will play, but it’s “probably less likely than likely.”

That’s a clear indication that the Rams may be without their starting right tackle for the second straight week, which is bad news for Los Angeles.

Havenstein won’t practice on Wednesday, nor will his replacement, Joe Noteboom. McVay said Noteboom is dealing with an ankle injury of his own and will not practice on Wednesday, either.

If both Havenstein and Noteboom miss Sunday’s game, it’ll be Warren McClendon Jr. starting at right tackle.

Rob Havenstein injury update: Latest news on Rams RT for Week 10

Rams RT Rob Havenstein suffered an ankle injury in Sunday’s win over the Seahawks and is expected to miss at least one game

Just when the Los Angeles Rams were starting to get healthy, they were dealt another blow along the offensive line. Right tackle Rob Havenstein suffered an ankle injury in Sunday’s win over the Seattle Seahawks and was unable to return.

Sean McVay didn’t have an update on the lineman after the game, but he provided further clarity on Havenstein’s status during his media session on Monday.

Rob Havenstein injury update

McVay told reporters that Havenstein is expected to miss Week 10 against the Miami Dolphins with his ankle injury. McVay did say “it’s nothing that’s IR,” indicating that Havenstein won’t be placed on injured reserve.

How long will Rob Havenstein be out?

Considering the Rams don’t expect to put Havenstein on IR, it’s expected that he’ll miss fewer than four games. McVay didn’t have an exact timeline for the right tackle’s return, but he shouldn’t miss more than three games – and it’s possible he’ll only miss the Rams’ next game.

Rams RT depth chart

The good news is that Joe Noteboom is expected to play against the Dolphins after missing the last seven games with an ankle injury of his own. He should be the replacement for Havenstein at right tackle, though Warren McClendon Jr. is also a candidate to fill in.

Rob Havenstein injury vs. Seahawks: Latest news on Rams RT

Rams RT Rob Havenstein suffered an ankle injury in the third quarter. Here’s the latest on his status moving forward.

The Los Angeles Rams have remained relatively healthy on the offensive line in the last few weeks after a difficult start to the year, but one of their key cogs went down during Sunday’s game against the Seattle Seahawks.

Right tackle Rob Havenstein suffered an ankle injury in the third quarter on a run by Kyren Williams near the goal line.

He remained down on the field for a little while as he was looked at by trainers before getting to his feet and walking to the sideline with the help of the Rams’ staff.

Rob Havenstein injury update

Havenstein is officially questionable to return to the game after exiting for a couple of plays on the drive where he was injured. He was replaced by Warren McClendon Jr. at right tackle for the time being.

It’s unclear how serious the injury is but McClendon will remain the right tackle until Havenstein is able to return.

Charts show how bad Rams’ pass protection has been compared to rest of NFL

Analytics show the Rams’ pass protection has been miles worse than every other team in the NFL

Matthew Stafford enjoyed good protection from his offensive line last season but he’s taken a beating in the first two weeks of the 2024 campaign. With Steve Avila, Rob Havenstein, Alaric Jackson and Joe Noteboom all missing time already, Stafford has been under heavy pressure when dropping back to pass.

It’s not surprising given the constant shuffling up front, but something has to improve before Stafford joins his teammates on injured reserve from the litany of hits he’s been taking.

ESPN and Pro Football Focus’ analytics can give us an idea of just how bad the Rams’ pass protection has been through two games and it’s clear they’ve been the league’s worst in that department. Based on the chart below, they’re in a class of their own – and not in a good way.

PFF’s grading has clearly been harsher on the Rams than ESPN’s pass-blocking win rate metric, but the point still stands: LA has been horrendous at protecting its quarterback.

Another chart using PFF’s pass-blocking grades on true pass sets (excluding play-action, screens and quick passes) shows the Rams are by far the worst in the league with a score of 39. The next-closest team is the Dolphins at 47, while the Colts are No. 1 with a grade of 80.

The good news is that Alaric Jackson will return from his suspension this week, taking over at left tackle for Warren McClendon Jr. That was by far the Rams’ weakest spot in the first two weeks so hopefully Jackson’s return will help.

On the flip side, Jonah Jackson will miss at least four games with a shoulder injury so the Rams’ guard play could take a hit.

Rams RT Rob Havenstein expected to play vs. Cardinals on Sunday

The Rams’ offensive line is getting a much-needed boost with Rob Havenstein likely returning on Sunday

Good news has been hard to come by for the injury-ravaged Los Angeles Rams, but there is a positive development heading into Sunday’s game against the Arizona Cardinals. Sean McVay told reporters Friday that right tackle Rob Havenstein is expected to return after missing the opener with an ankle injury.

Havenstein originally hurt his ankle in the first week of August and though he returned to practice on Sept. 2, he wasn’t ready to go for the first game of the year last week. He’s been the Rams’ most consistent lineman for several years so getting him back against Arizona is huge.

Assuming Havenstein plays as expected, McVay said Warren McClendon Jr. will likely move from right tackle to left tackle. The Rams started Joe Noteboom at left tackle last week and when he went down, A.J. Arcuri replaced him with very little success.

The hope is that McClendon will be an improvement on the left side, providing Matthew Stafford with better blindside protection.

Los Angeles is still far from being at full strength along the offensive line but Havenstein’s return is a major step in the right direction with Steve Avila and Noteboom injured.

Rams injury report: Cobie Durant held out, Rob Havenstein limited Wednesday

The Rams are dealing with several injuries to starters at the moment, including Cobie Durant and Rob Havenstein

It’s been a busy week for the Los Angeles Rams and it’s only Wednesday. With Puka Nacua, Steve Avila and Joe Noteboom all on injured reserve, the Rams have gotten thin at certain spots on the depth chart.

They began their prep for the Cardinals with their first practice on Wednesday and Sean McVay shared an update on the team’s injuries after their walkthrough. Cobie Durant (toe), Rob Havenstein (ankle) and Kevin Dotson (ankle) are all among those who are on the injury report, as expected.

Durant is not practicing, nor is Dotson. Havenstein and Christian Rozeboom are both going to be limited, which means Jonah Jackson is the only starting lineman who’s practicing in full.

It’s only Week 2 but the Rams are already as banged up as some teams are in Week 12. The good news is that Dotson is expected to play against the Cardinals and there’s still some hope that Havenstein can suit up, too.

Update (5:45 p.m. PT): The Rams released the full injury report, which also lists Davis Allen as a non-participant due to a back injury.

For the Cardinals, Kyler Murray was a full participant, Xavier Weaver was limited and Max Melton was out with a concussion.
