Dolphins to sign QB Reid Sinnett to their practice squad

Sinnett spent parts of two seasons with Miami.

With Miami Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel announcing that the team will be without Tua Tagovailoa this week, as he’s in concussion protocol, Miami is in need of another quarterback.

McDaniel told the media on Monday that they plan to sign old friend Reid Sinnett to their practice squad this week. It’s unknown whether or not Sinnett will be elevated later in the week, but it may make some sense just in case there’s another injury at the position.

Sinnett 2020 and part of the 2021 season with the Dolphins, mostly on the practice squad. He was elevated to the active roster twice near the end of the 2020 season.

After waiving Sinnett last year when Tagovailoa returned from injury, he was claimed by the Philadelphia Eagles. The Eagles kept him on the roster through the end of the season, and he spent some time on their practice squad at the beginning of this year.

During the preseason this year, Sinnett completed 52.1% of his attempts for 254 yards, two touchdowns and an interception.

Eagles 16-man practice squad prediction ahead of final roster cuts

Philadelphia Eagles 16-man practice squad prediction ahead of final roster cutdowns

The Eagles are counting down to the Tuesday afternoon deadline in which the organization will have to trim their roster down to 53 players, with a 16-man practice squad to be formed hours afterward.

With changes to the practice squad in recent years, Howie Roseman can have a farm system of versatile players to interchange weekly based on injury, opponent, or roster manipulation.

Of the 16 players allowed on Philadelphia’s practice squad, ten have to be rookies or second-year players, while the remaining six players have no limitations (veterans).

With the Eagles set for afternoon practice, here’s our final prediction for the team’s 16-man practice squad.

Eagles to waive QB Carson Strong

The Philadelphia Eagles are cutting undrafted free agent quarterback Carson Strong

The Eagles invested heavily in Carson Strong after the draft, and on Tuesday, the organization will cut its losses as the team is waiving the former Nevada star per Jonathan Jones.

Signed as a high-profile undrafted free agent, Strong’s contract included $320,000 guaranteed after he threw for over 4,000 yards with 36 touchdowns at Nevada in 2021.

A highly sought-out pocket passer, Strong barely saw action during joint practices or preseason games, and on Saturday and his most extensive playing time of the summer, Strong logged seven snaps and completed 1 of 3 passes for 6 yards.

During the entire summer, Strong saw just 15 snaps with just four passing attempts after having a reputation for being a gunslinger.
