What you need to know: Detroit Lions at Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 6

Everything you need to know for the Detroit Lions at Jacksonville Jaguars matchup in Week 46 of the 2020 season.

The Detroit Lions (1-3) are traveling to Florida to take on the Jacksonville Jaguars (1-4) in Week 6 of the 2020 season.

While the Lions haven’t had any concerning COVID-19 results since training camp — their last instance was the Matthew Stafford false-positive — their opponents have made a lot of headlines recently.

A false-positive result from a New Orleans Saints player threatened Week 4, but the game was played on time. The Atlanta Falcons (Lions Week 7 opponent) had a positive result on Thursday, but have already passed protocols and reopened their facility. The Indianapolis Colts (Lions Week 8 opponent) had four false-positives on Friday and are also already back on schedule.

Then yesterday, a Jaguars’ practice squad player had a positive result, but the team retested players and shut down their facility, leading to the NFL determining that the threat was contained and the game could be played as scheduled.

Here’s everything you need to know for how to watch or listen to this week’s game.

Chiefs-Ravens matchup features two winningest NFL teams

These two teams have the longest active win streaks and the best records dating back to Week 11 of 2018.

The Kansas City Chiefs and Baltimore Ravens have both accumulated a lot of wins over the past three NFL seasons and now they’re getting set to meet on “Monday Night Football.”

In fact, these two teams are the winningest teams in the NFL since Week 11 of 2018 according to Chiefs Reporter Matt McMullen. That’s back when Lamar Jackson first became the starter for the Ravens. If you include both regular season and postseason wins, Baltimore has a 22-5 record during that span, while Kansas City has a 21-8 record. The Chiefs played the Ravens twice in that span and won both times.

Of course, Patrick Mahomes won the league MVP award in 2018 and Jackson won the league MVP award in 2019. Combine that with the Chiefs’ Super Bowl LIV win and it’s not that big of a shock to find that these two teams have won so many games since 2018. The next closest would be the New England Patriots, who have 20 wins.

Currently, the Ravens and Chiefs also have the two longest active regular-season win streaks in the NFL. Two teams with such win streaks haven’t met in the NFL since 1969 when the Los Angeles Rams hosted the Minnesota Vikings according to ESPN’s Field Yates.

If you go back to the Chiefs’ recent postseason victories they’ve won 11 consecutive games, which marks the longest active streak of consecutive wins in the NFL.

At least one win streak comes to an end on “Monday Night Football” and there’s always a chance that both do if they to finish in a tie game. It might be a bit anticlimactic, but it’d also be a little poetic.

LOOK: Raiders light up Allegiant Stadium before kickoff with the Saints

The New Orleans Saints are set to visit the Las Vegas Raiders at their very shiny new Allegiant Stadium, which is making its NFL debut.

[jwplayer kj3NJBG4-ThvAeFxT]

So fresh, so clean: the Las Vegas Raiders have rolled out the welcome mat for the New Orleans Saints at their new home. The lights are on at Allegiant Stadium, and they’re ready for some football.

It’s a gorgeous venue, but we can’t help but think of how great the Saints’ “Color Rush” alternate jerseys are going to look on the crisp natural turf (Bermuda grass, for anyone keeping score at home).

Grown outside and rolled into the stadium on a huge tray for game days — because UNLV shares the stadium, but insists on playing on artificial turf — this will be the first real test for the surf after a handful of Raiders training camp practices.

Raiders Nation won’t be crowding the stands, but reporters on the scene have noticed pilgrims just outside showing up to support the silver and black:

Sure, it’s a beautiful stadium. Now maybe the Saints can play the Rebellion to the Raiders’ “Death Star” and hand Las Vegas a loss at its own homecoming

Pete Carroll confident Seahawks will be playing football games in 2020

Based on the success of the COVID-19 testing so far, coach Pete Carroll is confident the Seahawks will be playing football games this fall.

Fans around the country are anxiously waiting to hear whether or not professional football will be played this fall in spite of the coronavirus pandemic. With a number of college conferences already postponing or canceling their seasons, the angst is very real for most people.

Seahawks coach Pete Carroll – always the eternal optimist – is confident his team will be taking the field in September.

“I think we’re going to make it to the games,” Carroll told Dave “Softy” Mahler and Dick Fain of 950 KJR Radio on Thursday. “This format that we’re in – we’re trying to do a great job, we’re counting on everybody else to do a great job, too. We’ve gone almost two full weeks now and we know how to do that, so if we just can take it one day at a time and everybody’s doing the same thing, then the games are rolling.”

Only one Seahawk has been placed on the Reserve/COVID-19 list so far, but John Ursua’s test turned out to be a false positive in the end.

If the Seahawks can keep doing what they are doing to stay safe and negative for the coronavirus, Carroll just might be right about football games being played this season after all.
