Andy Reid ranks second in NFL history for most playoff wins

Andy Reid has the second-most playoff wins in NFL history after guiding the #Chiefs to a Super Bowl LVIII victory.

Andy Reid has lifted the Kansas City Chiefs to new heights since joining the team in 2013 and has put together a sterling resume that is sure to get him enshrined in the Pro Football Hall of Fame when he retires.

The Chiefs’ ability to win games in the playoffs is a testament to Reid’s genius as a head coach who has earned Kansas City three Super Bowl rings in the last five years.

After the team’s playoff run earlier this year, Reid now ranks second all-time for the most postseason wins in NFL history.

This remarkable accomplishment wasn’t achieved without significant effort on the part of Reid and the Chiefs’ players who have committed themselves to creating the NFL’s next dynasty.

With expectations at an all-time high heading into Kansas City’s 2024 campaign, Reid should be expected to do everything he can to help the Chiefs complete a three-peat next season.

Chiefs are on pace to take top seed in AFC playoffs

If the 2023 season ended today the #Chiefs would take the AFC’s top playoff seed.

The Kansas City Chiefs are among the most dominant teams in the NFL and are pacing to take the top seed in the AFC playoffs through Week 9.

While the team’s early success in 2023 hardly guarantees that it will earn the coveted playoff bye week in January, the fact that Kansas City controls its own destiny at this point in the season gives the Chiefs a massive advantage over opponents in the AFC.

Kansas City will have to win some extremely challenging games after their Week 10 bye to stay in their current position, but if recent history is any indication, the Chiefs should be expected to pull out scrappy victories with regularity through the end of the season.

Another No. 1 seed in the playoffs could help catapult Kansas City to another Super Bowl berth, so it is imperative for the Chiefs to stay the course and continue churning out wins as the 2023 regular season nears its conclusion.

Chiefs HC Andy Reid tied Tom Landry on NFL’s all-time regular season wins list

#Chiefs head coach Andy Reid tied Tom Landry for fourth place on the NFL’s all-time regular season win list on Sunday night.

Kansas City Chiefs head coach Andy Reid secured his 250th regular season win on Sunday night against the New York Jets. That mark ties legendary Dallas Cowboys skipper Tom Landry for the fourth-most all-time in NFL history and is yet another feather in Reid’s cap heading into the meat of Kansas City’s 2023 schedule.

Regular season wins are hard to come by in the modern NFL, and Reid has proven to be among the most adept coaches in the game at racking them up over the course of his career with the Chiefs.

The team’s victory on Sunday marked his 120th regular season win as Kansas City’s head coach, a mark that sits at second place in Chiefs franchise history behind the incomparable Hank Stram, who has 124.

With any luck, Reid will be able to beat Stram’s record later this year as Kansas City looks to defend its Super Bowl title.

WATCH: Chiefs chairman Clark Hunt congratulates Andy Reid on impressive career milestone

Clark Hunt congratulated Andy Reid for an impressive career milestone after the #Chiefs’ win over the #Bears on Sunday.

The Kansas City Chiefs’ Week 3 win over the Chicago Bears was notable for many reasons, but perhaps the most impressive feat achieved in the game was Andy Reid’s ascension to fourth place on the NFL’s all-time leaderboard for wins as a head coach with 271 career victories.

After the veteran skipper wrapped up his comments to the Chiefs on Sunday evening, team chairman and CEO Clark Hunt stepped in to congratulate Reid on his impressive career milestone.

While a win in this game may have seemed like a foregone conclusion for the defending Super Bowl champions, the victory is sure to have meant a bit more for Reid, who is rapidly gaining ground on George Halas for third place on the win leaderboard.

With a bit of luck and another decade of success, Reid could have an outside shot to take over the first-place spot from legendary Miami Dolphins coach Don Shula, who ended his career with 347 wins.

Alabama could suffer another two-loss season according to latest projection

Alabama dropped two games last season and did not make the College Football Playoff, what will it take to get there in 2023?

Alabama football’s 2022 season ended with a New Year’s Six Bowl win over the Big 12 champion. With such an accolade and a 10-2 regular season record, the average college football fan would be ecstatic. However, Crimson Tide fans were not.

The annual expectation in Tuscaloosa is to win a national championship or compete for one at the very least.

The upcoming 2023 is shaping up to be an interesting one for Nick Saban and the Crimson Tide. Not only is the schedule loaded with challenges, but there are a lot of crucial contributors from 2022 that need to be replaced. At the time of publishing this, two weeks from Week 1, there is still an ongoing three-man race for the starting job.

Recently, Seth Emerson and Kennington Smith III of The Athletic (subscription required) predicted how many wins each SEC team will win in the 2023 season.

For Alabama, the projection is 10, which means two losses for the second year in a row.

“The dynasty could be ending – or we could be forgetting that Alabama’s two losses last year were by five combined points – and it barely lost the national championship game the prior year,” writes Emerson. “There’s still enough talent, and there’s still Nick Saban, to bet the over.”

Smith takes a slightly different approach to the Tide.

“The Crimson Tide’s schedule is loaded: marquee games against Tennessee, Texas and LSU and potential land mines at Kentucky and Tennessee. There are questions at quarterback, but the overall roster talent and the fact that the toughest three games (Tennessee, Texas and LSU) are at home should mean we should take the over, slightly.”

Alabama will be tested early in the season, as Texas will visit Bryant-Denny Stadium for Week 2. Only time will tell how this Crimson Tide team performs; but for now, there are many question marks that warrant a prediction of around 10-2.

Roll Tide Wire will continue to follow Alabama football as the 2023 season approaches.

Wins are on Chris Olave’s mind in Year 2: ‘I’ve never lost that much in my life’

Wins are on Chris Olave’s mind in Year 2 after his rookie season didn’t go as planned: ‘I’ve never lost that much in my life’

[anyclip pubname=”2123″ widgetname=”0016M00002U0B1kQAF_M8169″]

Chris Olave has a simple goal for his second year in the NFL: get back to winning games. The New Orleans Saints’ star receiver opened up about his tough rookie year on Richard Sherman’s podcast, sharing that he didn’t expect to suffer so many losses — it’s a new feeling for him after his teams found rare success in college and high school.

Sherman asked Olave for his goals in 2023, and he’s making it clear that he’s focused on team accomplishments.

“Man I’m just trying to win, man. Last year was tough for me. I’ve never lost that much in my life. That shit took a toll on me, I can’t,” Olave exhaled. “That don’t sit right with me. I’m just trying to be the best version of myself, help my teammates, help them be better, help us win and get to the playoffs.”

He’s not lying. Here’s how each of Olave’s teams performed previously:

  • 2015: 5-6 (Eastlake High School in Chula Vista, Calif)
  • 2016: 7-5 (Mission Hills in San Marcos, Calif.)
  • 2017: 12-1 (Mission Hills in San Marcos, Calif.)
  • 2018: 13-1 (Ohio State)
  • 2019: 13-1 (Ohio State)
  • 2020: 7-1 (Ohio State)
  • 2021: 11-2 (Ohio State)
  • 2022: 7-10 (New Orleans)

So Olave joined the Saints having only lost 17 games since he began playing varsity football, only to suffer 10 losses in his first year as a pro. Olave’s team lost nearly as many games in 2022 as he saw in total from 2021 to 2016. He never lost double-digit games in a single season before. That’s a gut punch for someone who has only experienced success on the gridiron, so of course it’s going to leave him feeling restless. He’s putting that energy to good use.

Alabama softball HC Patrick Murphy records win No. 1,200

Patrick Murphy reaches an impressive milestone as Alabama softball took down Samford!

With a 3-2 win over Samford, Alabama softball head coach Patrick Murphy reach an impressive milestone: win No. 1,200 with the Crimson Tide program.

Murphy has coached collegiate softball since 1990 when he started as an assistant for Southwestern Louisiana. In 1996, he joined the Alabama staff as an assistant and was promoted to head coach in 1998.

With six regular season SEC championships, five SEC tournament championships and one national title, Murphy’s one of the best in the nation.

He has an overall record at Alabama of 1,200-335, which amounts to a 78.2% win percentage.

He’s seemingly got plenty of time left to see that number grow, as his recruiting classes have remained consistently strong over the years and he gets the most out of every roster he’s had.

Roll Tide Wire will continue to follow Murphy and Alabama softball as the 2023 season progresses.

Win over Bengals would give Chiefs HC Andy Reid second-most postseason wins in NFL history

Andy Reid is set to pass Tom Landry for second place on the NFL’s all-time playoff wins list if he can lift the #Chiefs over the #Bengals on Sunday. | from @TheJohnDillon

Kansas City Chiefs HC Andy Reid is set to make history if he can lift his team over the Cincinnati Bengals this evening. He’s already one of the winningest coaches in NFL history and the postseason is no different.

After defeating the Jacksonville Jaguars in the AFC divisional round, Reid tied legendary Dallas Cowboys coach Tom Landry for second place on the NFL’s all-time leaderboard for playoff wins. With one more win, Reid would take sole ownership of second place in NFL postseason victories behind only New England Patriots HC Bill Belichick (31).

Reid is unlikely to be invested in this accomplishment at this juncture, as he is more likely focused on making a run at the Super Bowl. That said, the fact that he is in a position to surpass Landry in any category highlights the excellent track record that he has put together as a head coach in the NFL. He collected his 10th playoff win with the Chiefs in Kansas City last week and became the first head coach to get to double-digit playoff wins with two separate franchises.

Matched up against a bitter adversary that knocked him out of the postseason last year, Reid is sure to bring his best game plan of the season into the AFC Championship Game. A win would notch another impressive achievement to add to his already-lengthy resume of success.

NFL Network predicts outcome of every Saints game in 2022

NFL Network predicts the outcome of every Saints game in 2022, with a worse record than they finished with in 2021:

NFL Network’s Adam Rank forecast the records for all 32 NFL teams, and he didn’t take a favorable view of the New Orleans Saints. Despite their gutsy performances against the reigning NFC South champion Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the past, he’s predicting a worse finish than last year without Sean Payton at the helm in New Orleans.
