Betting line for Steelers vs Bills holds after postponement

The Steelers remain 10-point underdogs this week.

On Saturday it was announced that the Wild Card playoff game between the Pittsburgh Steelers and Buffalo Bills was being postponed until Monday afternoon due to a massive snowstorm coming into the Orchard Park area and cited safety as the primary reason for the move.

Monday’s weather isn’t going to be a drastic improvement over Sunday but if it creates a safer environment for all involved, it had to be done. But did the postponement do anything for the oddsmakers?

The short answer is no. Even hours after the announcement, the line for this week’s game according to BetMGM still had the Steelers as massive 10-point underdogs to the Bills.

Meanwhile the over/under for total points is currently 37. This number seems incredibly generous given the weather and potential field conditions. I would definitely take the under in this one and it is hard to see the Bills pulling away and winning by over 10 so I would take the points as well.

Steelers vs Bills: Takeaways from the reschedule

The game between the Steelers and Bills has been postponed.

On Saturday, just a day ahead of the Pittsburgh Steelers playoff showdown against the Buffalo Bills, the decision was made to reschedule the game for Monday afternoon, citing fan safety ahead of a massive snowstorm headed in.

Here are our big takeaways from the rescheduled game.

Despite Hurricane Ian, UF-EWU game still scheduled as planned, per Florida AD

The Gators are still expected to host Eastern Washington this weekend, but Hurricane Ian may create some issues as the week continues.

Florida’s Week 5 matchup with Eastern Washington is still planned to take place on Saturday in Gainesville, but the university will be closely monitoring Hurricane Ian, which is expected to impact the west coast of the state over the week.

The university’s athletic director Scott Stricklin took to Twitter on Monday to announce the update. The last time Florida dealt with inclement weather was in 2017 when Hurricane Irma hit. That game was moved up to a noon start time initially, but both programs agreed to cancel the game after mid-week projections showed Irma moving up the middle of the state.

The hope is that UF won’t have to cancel once again, but hurricanes can take sudden turns that force a change of plans. The good news is that the university should know how the storm affected the community by Thursday afternoon or evening.

There’s also the question of EWU’s travel arrangements. If the team is set to arrive on Friday, there’s a good chance they deal with some flight issues. Right now, the situation is one big what-if scenario.

The thing is that Florida needs to play this game badly. This is a team that the Gators should be able to dispatch easily, and they need to prove themselves after two early losses and a near loss to USF. This isn’t the kind of game that’s likely to be made up, but it’s a tricky problem to solve with the money involved in these kinds of visits.

LSU’s baseball game against Lamar postponed

No makeup date has currently been set for the game against the Cardinals.

Due to the threat of inclement weather, Tuesday night’s baseball game against the Lamar Cardinals has been canceled.

LSU was set to play the Cardinals at The Box as a tune-up game for this weekend’s series against No. 7 Arkansas Razorbacks in Fayetteville, Arkansas. It was a good week for the Tigers, who went 4-0 with a weekend sweep over Mississippi State, their first sweep in a conference series since 2019.

This is the third midweek game that has been postponed for LSU this season. The prior two were rescheduled for the following day, but a makeup date for this one hasn’t been announced.

The Tigers will likely return to the field this weekend in what will be a Thursday, Friday, and Saturday series in Fayetteville against the Razorbacks. [autotag]Ma’Khail Hilliard[/autotag] is the likely starter for Game 1, [autotag]Blake Money[/autotag] is likely to start Game 2, and TBA on the Game 3 starter.

Since coach [autotag]Jay Johnson[/autotag] reconfigured the pitching rotation, [autotag]Samuel Dutton[/autotag] has seen the bulk of the Game 3 starts.

LSU is currently 23-9 (7-5 SEC) on the year. For all updates on LSU baseball and full game recaps, stay tuned to LSU Wire.

LSU baseball’s game against Louisiana Tech rescheduled

The Tigers’ Tuesday night game against Louisiana Tech has been moved to Wednesday night

Due to the threat of inclement weather, Tuesday night’s baseball game against Louisiana Tech that was originally scheduled for tonight has been postponed and rescheduled for Wednesday night with the first pitch set for 6:30 p.m. CT.

LSU is looking to avenge an earlier 11-6 loss to the Bulldogs in Ruston, Louisiana. The Tigers are coming off of a 2-2 week where they dropped a conference series to the Texas A&M Aggies at home. The team will play the Bulldogs tomorrow before traveling to Gainsville, Florida, for a weekend series against the Gators starting on Friday.

The Gators will come into the series ranked No. 8 in the nation after winning their first conference series in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, last weekend. LSU will enter Wednesday night’s game with a record of 15-5 and ranked as the No. 18 team in the nation.

The pitching matchup, as well as the lineup, is TBD as coach Jay Johnson has stated that, after last weekend, he is going to re-evaluate every aspect of the team.

A running list of all the sporting events postponed or canceled because of COVID-19

Our tracker for games and other sporting events impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.

As the world continues to navigate the COVID-19 pandemic, FTW is keeping tabs on its impact in sports. This post will remain updated with the latest postponements and cancellations across the NFL, NBA, NHL, MLB, and college football and basketball.

The omicron variant has prompted leagues to once again update their coronavirus guidelines and best practices. Even with enhanced protocols, many players are contracting the virus and entering isolation as a result. Games have been routinely postponed due to the lack of available players or uncontrolled spread in the locker room.

On Dec. 27, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention decreased the  recommended quarantine period from 10 days to five days for those who test positive for the virus.

More information on COVID-19 and vaccinations can be found here.

Mark Davis says postponing game vs Browns is ‘competitive disadvantage’ for Raiders

Is the NFL putting the #Raiders at a ‘competitive disadvantage’ by postponing their game vs the #Browns? Mark Davis thinks so.

Understandably there are more than a few furious people today. Some are furious at the Browns, Rams, and Washington for their rash of positive COVID-19 cases. Some are furious with the NFL and NFLPA for what they see as going back on their words that they would not be re-scheduling those three games to Monday and Tuesday.

That goes for the fans, players, coaches, and otherwise. It’s a huge inconvenience if nothing else. Raiders owner Mark Davis says it puts the Raiders at a competitive disadvantage as he told ESPN’s Paul Gutierrez.

There is a lot here to unpack, so let’s do that.

Davis has a point about the short week situation. The Raiders were already preparing for a short week because the league had scheduled their game for Saturday. That doesn’t change, really. Now they just have to wait a few days to actually play that game.

What this means is the Raiders have essentially two short weeks in a row with the second off of a cross-country trip. Which, yeah, that’s a little annoying. Though it may not be *that* big of a deal. Each short week is just one day. Not like teams that play on Thursday which is shortening the week by three days.

Davis’s suggestion to move the game to Vegas is interesting. That would be a pretty good remedy, although likely not possible on short notice.

Where Davis gets way off track is bringing up the week leading up to the Tampa game last season. There is simply no comparison here.

First of all, we’re talking about the difference between a few of the Raiders offensive linemen vs over 20 Browns players with more testing positive seemingly by the hour. Just today — literally as the Raiders were about to get on their flight for Cleveland — Browns DE Jadeveon Clowney tested positive for COVID as well. These are all positive tests, mind you. Not close contacts.

Last season, in the week leading up the Bucs game, the Raiders had one player test positive (Trent Brown) and five other players placed on the reserve/COVID-19 list as close contacts, causing them to miss the week’s practices. The other four were the other Raiders starting offensive linemen. In the end, of those close contacts, only safety Johnathan Abram would miss the game.

Also, yeah, the league moved the game up…a few hours. From Sunday Night to Sunday afternoon. Let’s not like the game was moved up days or something. They merely flexed it out of primetime.

So, yeah, it sucks that the Raiders are having their game moved and probably a few thousand fans will have their game attending and watching plans disrupted or even ruined for something the Raiders had nothing to do with.

No question that’s terrible. And everyone has a right to be pretty angry about that. Mark Davis included. But other than the outside chance the Browns get back some of their players by Monday and the Raiders having a couple game weeks shortened by a day, the competitive disadvantage part is relatively minor.

NFL postpones Raiders vs Browns Week 15 game and Raiders are not happy about it

#Raiders vs #Browns has been moved to Monday much to the chagrin of the Raiders.

Today the Raiders were all set to hop on a plane and head to Cleveland to face the Browns. Well, some of the Browns anyway. The team has placed nearly half their team on the reserve/COVID-19 list including their top two quarterbacks. And the positive tests keep coming in.

Thus when the Raiders players showed up to the facility ready for their road trip and were told to stand by to await further instruction as the NFL and NFLPA consider postponing the game.

The Raiders were fighting the idea of postponing the game and some of their players have been vocal about it.

But in the end, the decision was made to postpone it, calling it a health and safety issue due to players continuing to test positive.

So, now what was a game on a short week at 1:30pm on Saturday is now a long week. Well, sort of. The Raiders still prepared for the short week. Now they will have a short week next week as well through no fault of their own. So, you can understand their frustrations. But this may just be for the best.

Browns vs Raiders Week 15 game postponed until Monday due to COVID-19

Browns and Raiders will now reportedly play an early Monday Night Football game:

The Cleveland Browns and Las Vegas Raiders will not play their Week 15 game as scheduled on Saturday. Due to an avalanche of positive tests among the Browns players, with over 20 players on the reserve/COVID-19 list, the league and NFLPA negotiated a solution on Friday.

The new league policy implemented late this week that could allow asymptomatic, vaccinated players to return quicker may allow Cleveland to get some of their players back but not in time for a Saturday kickoff. Instead, the two teams will face off on Monday.

It is still not certain how many Browns players will be available Monday that would not have been available on Saturday but the decision gives them an opportunity to be cleared in time for the game.

Josina Anderson first reported that the game was going to be postponed. Jay Glazer has also reported the move. According to Albert Breer, the game will take place at 5 PM on Monday:

We will keep you up to date with all the details as things are being worked out between the NFL and the NFLPA. No official announcement has been made at this time.
