Ohio State quarterback Kyle McCord get’s his NIL wheels

It’s a nice one #GoBucks

It pays to be Ohio State’s quarterback, and with Name, Image, Likeness aka NIL, it actually does.

With C.J. Stroud off the the NFL, the race to head one of college football’s most powerful offenses is between [autotag]Kyle McCord[/autotag] and [autotag]Devin Brown[/autotag]. Head coach [autotag]Ryan Day[/autotag] will continue the derby into the fall but that hasn’t stopped many from projecting who will win the race.

McCord is the clear front runner and if his NIL deal with Mark Wahlberg Chevrolet is correct, then the Buckeyes will be cruising in style this fall. From the looks of it, McCord will be doing that either way.

Check out the Mercedes that he will be riding around campus in this fall.

It really does pay to be an Ohio State quarterback.

Watch: Former Ohio State QB Justin Fields mic’d up for Chicago Bears

Fields said he can run how fast?!? #GoBucks

As former [autotag]Ohio State[/autotag] quarterback [autotag]Justin Fields[/autotag] enters his third season with the Chicago Bears, expectations couldn’t be higher.

After a rough rookie year, Fields made drastic improvements and could potentially jump into the upper-echelon of quarterbacks if he continues to get better.

The Bears are banking on that, as they opted to trade out of the top overall pick in the NFL draft, showing they have faith that Fields can take the next step. He is the current face of their franchise and should be, most quarterbacks are.

Recently, Fields was mic’d up for an organized team activity or OTA as they’re commonly referred to. He’s got great rapport with his teammates along with claiming he can run up to 22 miles per hour. Check out the video below.

Initial thoughts on Ohio State and the Big Ten’s new football schedule model

What is your initial reaction to the new Big Ten football schedule? #GoBucks

With the Big Ten adding on USC and UCLA, it was inevitable that [autotag]Ohio State[/autotag] and other current members of the conference would undergo a schedule change.

That was all announced today, with some of it making perfect sense, while some of it wasn’t quite as straightforward. The change from Kevin Warren to [autotag]Tony Petitti[/autotag] as commissioner meant changes would be coming also, as Petitti would want to put his stamp on the conference as soon as he could.

There are going to be plenty of thoughts about how this all breaks down and here are my immediate reactions to the changes.

Spring football might be coming to Ohio but not the way you think

It’s spring football in Ohio but not for everyone

Ohio is one of the few states that does not have a spring high school football season and it has made an impact on how [autotag]Ohio State[/autotag] recruits some of the top in-state players and their early contributions to the program.

That all might be changing soon as former USFL president Brian Woods is creating a Prep Super League that would start in 2024 and run for six weeks. Multiple cities have been selected as sites for teams, including Cleveland.

In a report by ESPN, Woods stated that he is looking at “prospects entering their sophomore or junior years of high school this fall.” There would also be Name, Image, Likeness benefits along with extra exposure to college coaches, Woods claims.

There has long been coaches and players asking for spring football in Ohio. Although it will just be a select amount of players participating, it is a “start” to the Buckeye state’s players catching up to other states who play a spring schedule.

Ohio State commit’s father has issue with Buckeye fans on Twitter

What would you do in this situation? #GoBucks

We all know what is happening with Florida wide receiver [autotag]Jeremiah Smith[/autotag].

If you don’t, let me fill you in. Smith committed to the Buckeyes in the middle of December, a 5-star star prospect and the top-ranked wide receiver and second-ranked prospect in the country according to the 247Sports composite.

Smith has continued to tell Buckeye Nation that he’s still locked in, even while taking official visits to other schools. The elite receiver has been sharing his experiences on Twitter and OSU fans have not been endearing to the young man who is trying to enjoy a once-in-a-lifetime experience.

Current Ohio State father, Kenyatta Jackson Sr., took to Twitter to express his disappointment with Buckeye fans and their interactions with Smith.

It’s hard to disagree with Jackson Sr.’s comments, it’s pretty immature of the fan base to react this way. Yes, it’s a small amount of people who have reacted negatively, but it’s a reoccurring issue.

Think about the situation. You are 17-18 years old and have the opportunity to visit some of the best schools in the country, get everything paid for and have a red carpet rolled out for you. Who wouldn’t want to experience that?

I sure would.

Smith is enjoying the process and making sure he made the right choice. Can you really blame him for that? It’s one of the most important decisions he has to make his young life and if he need to go on officials to confirm that, then so be it.

247Sports has five Ohio State players selected in their latest 2024 NFL mock draft

Another mock draft, another handful of Buckeyes projected to be taken early #GoBucks

The 2023 college football season is still a few months away, but that hasn’t stopped many from projecting where [autotag]Ohio State[/autotag] and other star prospects might land in the [autotag]NFL draft[/autotag].

There have been plenty of mock drafts dropped recently, some having a larger amount of Buckeyes selected, others not quite as many.

247Sports latest mock drafted up by Brad Crawford is in the middle, with five Buckeyes projected into the first round. Honestly, this is the best bet, especially considering where we are as the season approaches.

Find out below which Buckeyes were mocked by Crawford into the first round and what pick they were taken at while ignoring which team due to uncertainty of which team will pick where.

Watch: Kirk Herbstreit says Ohio State quarterback battle could go into season

Do you think Herbie is right?

One of the biggest questions for [autotag]Ohio State[/autotag] heading into the 2023 season is who will win the quarterback derby.

Former Buckeye quarterback [autotag]Kirk Herbsteit[/autotag] shared his thoughts about what could happen for Ohio State this fall with On3’s J.D. Pickell. The current ESPN analyst believes that the competition between [autotag]Devin Brown[/autotag] and [autotag]Kyle McCord[/autotag] could bleed into the the first few games of the seasons.

Can’t say I don’t disagree with Herbie, I had this belief a few months ago when analyzing what both had to offer as the starter. It makes plenty of sense for head coach [autotag]Ryan Day[/autotag] to do this, each of them has had limited reps at this level and developing depth is paramount.

Brown, the better athlete, could carve out a red zone package that McCord wouldn’t be as good at. The better passer, McCord, already has established a rapport with Marvin Harrison Jr., they did attend the same high school and could lead the passing attack.

It remains to be seen how Day handles the situation, but it’s hard to disagree with Herbstreit’s assessment of the battle.

This chart shows why Ohio State running back Miyan Williams is elite

The Buckeye back is among the top returning rushers in the country #GoBucks

It’s not always about the yards and touchdowns when looking at a running backs production and [autotag]Ohio State[/autotag]’s [autotag]Miyan Williams[/autotag] falls under that category.

It was a few aspects that held him down last year which included injuries, splitting time with teammates and an offense that revolved around putting the ball in the air. Williams still ran for 825 yards and 14 touchdowns last year, showing he was highly effective when active.

This chart by Twitter account Football Insights shows just how dominant Williams was last year when looking at missed tackles and yards after contact. The Buckeye back did them both, not only leading the country in missed tackles per touch, he was also among the top performers in yards after contact.

For a running back, these two stats are paramount, elusiveness along with power. Williams has it all.
