Kansas State at Oklahoma State odds, picks and prediction

Analyzing Saturday’s Kansas State Wildcats at Oklahoma State Cowboys odds and lines, with college football expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Kansas State Wildcats (3-0) meet the No. 22 Oklahoma State Cowboys (3-0) Saturday in their Big 12 conference opener at Boone Pickens Stadium in Stillwater, Okla. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. ET. Below, we look at the Kansas State vs. Oklahoma State odds and lines, and make our expert college football picks, predictions and bets.

Rankings according to the AFCA Coaches Poll powered by USA TODAY Sports.

The Wildcats have already notched wins against Stanford and Nevada by 17 or more points. The closest game for K-State was actually a 31-23 win on Sept. 11 over Southern Illinois, a Top 10 team at the FCS level.

The Cowboys narrowly avoided upsets against FCS Missouri State and Tulsa in the first two weekends, winning those outings by a combined 12 points. Oklahoma State hit the road for Boise State last weekend, and it escaped with a 21-20 win as 3.5-point underdogs. The Under is 2-0-1 for the Cowboys.

Kansas State at Oklahoma State odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

Kansas State 26, Oklahoma State 23

Money line

KANSAS STATE (+180) is a value play in this conference opener, even though the game is in Stillwater.

Yes, Oklahoma State (-230) won at Boise State last week, but K-State is battled tested. They dismantled a very, very good Nevada team last weekend with relative ease, 38-17, shutting down one of the more unheralded quarterbacks in the nation.

The Cowboys have been rather one-dimensional and rush-heavy, while narrowly escaping. Oklahoma State’s three wins have been by a combined 13 points. They’ve been playing with fire and will finally get burned.

Against the spread

I like KANSAS STATE +5.5 (-110) straight up, so of course I like them catching the points.

K-State is 9-3 ATS across the past 12 games on the road, while going 11-4 ATS in the past 15 as an underdog and 12-4 ATS in the previous 16 conference tilts.

Not only that, but the Wildcats have dominated this series, at least against the number, cashing in eight of the past 10 meetings, and five of the previous six trips to Stillwater.

Stream college football games on ESPN+ by signing up here.

Over/Under

The slight lean is to the OVER 47.5 (-108). While OK State has been rather one-dimensional, running the ball heavily, and that’s a reason to take the Under usually, the Over has dominated in this series in recent years.

The Over is 6-1 in the past seven battles in Stillwater, and 11 of the previous 15 meetings overall.

K-State tossed up 38 points last week for its first Over result, and the offense has improved every week this season. I think the effectiveness of the K-State offense outweighs the run-heavy and moribund Oklahoma State offense for a slight Over.

Tulsa at Oklahoma State odds, picks and prediction

Analyzing Saturday’s Tulsa at Oklahoma State odds and lines, with college football expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Tulsa Golden Hurricane (0-1) and Oklahoma State Cowboys (1-0) meet Saturday at Boone Pickens Stadium in Stillwater, Okla. Kickoff is scheduled for noon ET. Below, we look at the Tulsa vs. Oklahoma State odds and lines, and make our expert college football picks, predictions and bets.

Tulsa is reeling after a 19-17 setback to FCS UC Davis last week at home. The Golden Hurricane outgained the Aggies 448 to 399 in total yards, but they were sacked three times and lost the turnover margin. Tulsa was rather undisciplined, too, taking 12 penalties for 122 yards.

Oklahoma State was a little on the sluggish side against its FCS foe Missouri State. It all started fine for the Cowboys, as they fired out to a 20-0 lead, but MO State, a ranked FCS team, made it a one-score game with 3:06 to go, putting a scare into OK State before acquiescing, 23-16.

  • Against the spread (ATS): Tulsa +12.5 (-108) | Oklahoma State -12.5 (-112)

Tulsa at Oklahoma State odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

Oklahoma State 31, Tulsa 13

Money line

Oklahoma State (-540) got off to a bit of a sluggish start in the post-RB Chuba Hubbard era, as the offense was a bit in disarray. QB Spencer Sanders was sidelined due to a COVID-19 issue, so Shane Illingworth was under center. He threw for 315 yards and WR Tay Martin stepped up with 107 receiving yards.

The offense will be fine, especially with Sanders returning Saturday.

Tulsa (+380) had its hands full against an FCS team and lost outright, so the Hurricane aren’t going to the Boone and dumping a Power 5 side. Still, risking more than five times your potential return is not a good long-term betting strategy.

AVOID.

Against the spread

The play here is OKLAHOMA STATE -12.5 (-112), and the books are giving you a gift based on the second-half play of the Cowboys last week.

I’ll boldly say I think MO State is actually better than Tulsa, despite the latter’s FBS standing. Take advantage, and hammer the Cowboys for the win by at least two touchdowns.

Stream college football games on ESPN+ by signing up here.

Over/Under

UNDER 51.5 (-115) is the play. Tulsa put up plenty of yards last week but bogged down in the red zone and on third down. In fact, the Golden Hurricane were just 2-for-10 on third down in the loss to UCD.

Oklahoma State scored just 3 points in the final 40:57 against Missouri State and could be missing Sanders again. Illingworth did OK, but he isn’t Sanders. All signs are pointing to an Under result, which is the side of the total each of these teams hit last weekend.

Missouri State at Oklahoma State odds, expert picks and prediction

Analyzing Saturday’s Missouri State at Oklahoma State odds and lines, with college football expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Missouri State Bears and Oklahoma State Cowboys meet Saturday at Boone Pickens Stadium in Stillwater, Okla. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. ET and the game can be viewed on ESPN+. Below, we look at the Missouri State vs. Oklahoma State odds and lines, and make our expert college football picks, predictions and bets.

The Bears lost three games last fall and then played six contests in the spring. Missouri State won its final four regular-season games in March and April, including a 27-24 win over South Dakota; however, the Bears were bounced by North Dakota in the FCS playoffs.

The Cowboys won eight of 11 games in the fall. They have some big shoes to fill with RB Chuba Hubbard and WR Tylan Wallace moving on to the NFL, but at least QB Spencer Sanders is back. True freshmen twins WRs Blaine and Bryson Green are two players to watch. WR Brennan Presley will also work to fill Wallace’s shoes.

Missouri State at Oklahoma State odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

Oklahoma State 45, Missouri State 13

Money line

PASS on the hefty money line price for the favorite. A $100 bet would return a profit of just 10 cents.

Against the spread

MISSOURI STATE +37.5 (-105) is the lean here, as Oklahoma State is traditionally a slow-starting team. The Cowboys were sluggish in a 16-7 win over Tulsa in last season’s opener, and they won 52-36 at Oregon State to begin the 2019 campaign.

The last time OK State faced Missouri State, it won 58-17 as 45-point favorites in 2018, as the Over connected. This Cowboys team is a little less talented than those Cowboys teams of the past.

Over/Under

OVER 55.5 (-110) is the lean in the opener. Oklahoma State has a good chance of helping Over bettors to a victory, as it will be looking to pass early and often with Sanders, especially since Hubbard is gone and the Cowboys won’t be able to lean on the run game as heavily.

Over bettors love pass-first teams, as the clock doesn’t run as much.

Tip-off is set for 6 p.m. ET. Below, we analyze the Oklahoma State-Texas odds and lines, with NCAA college basketball picks and predictions.

Oklahoma State vs. Texas: Three things to know

  1. Oklahoma State upset No. 9 West Virginia 72-69 in the quarterfinals of the Big 12 tourney and No. 2 Baylor 83-74 as an 8.5-point underdog in the semifinals Friday to earn a title game bid. The Cowboys’ victory over Baylor avenged their only loss in the past nine games and they’ve covered all nine of those contests.
  2. Texas advanced to the Big 12 Championship Game due to an “uncontested” victory against Kansas, which had to pull out of the semifinals because of COVID complications on the team. The Longhorns defeated quarterfinal opponent No. 22 Texas Tech in a 67-66 thriller Friday to win and cover their fourth straight game.
  3. These teams split the season series 1-1 but Oklahoma State has covered three straight against Texas.

Oklahoma State vs. Texas: Odds, lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Oklahoma State 73, Texas 69

Money line (ML)

Both teams are obviously playing very well entering the title game, but the way OKLAHOMA STATE (+125) closed out its semifinal victory over eventual 1-seed Baylor put college basketball on notice.

The Cowboys are going to be a scary team in the NCAA Tournament because they have the Big 12 Player of the Year and probable No. 1 overall pick in the NBA Draft in SF Cade Cunningham.

He put up 25 and 19 points in the two Oklahoma State-Texas games this season so it’s not like the Longhorns can say they’ve figured Cunningham out and the gravitational pull his skillset has on opposing defenses is staggering.

Finally, perhaps the most important factor in postseason college hoops is free-throw shooting and this is an area where Oklahoma State has an edge.

The Cowboys have the 52nd-ranked FTA/FG rate and the Longhorns are 295th in defensive FTA/FG rate, according to Ken Pom.

GIMME OKLAHOMA STATE (+125) for a quarter-unit.

Play our new free daily Pick’em Challenge and win! Play now!

Against the spread (ATS)

Definitely BET OKLAHOMA STATE +2.5 (-110) heavier than or instead of the money line. The Cowboys have covered nine straight games, three straight vs. the Longhorns and five straight as a dog at a neutral site.

Over/Under (O/U)

According to Pregame.com, roughly 75% of the money is on the UNDER 144.5 (-110), but nearly 80% of the bets placed are on the Over, which tells us that the sharp side of the market (the money) is on the Under.

The hoops’ angle for the Under is both teams average more turnovers per game than assists and play a fair amount of iso-ball that may lead to clunky offensive possessions.

It’s more of a lean but I’ll PUT a half-unit on the UNDER 144.5 (-110).

Oklahoma State is No. 14 in the Ferris Mowers Coaches Poll powered by USA TODAY Sports. West Virginia is ninth. WVU and OSU are the No. 4 and No. 5 seeds, respectively, in the Big 12 Tournament.

Oklahoma State vs. West Virginia: Three things to know

  1. The Cowboys’ top player, G Cade Cunningham, did not play in OSU’s last game, an 85-80 win at West Virginia Saturday. Cunningham was out with an ankle injury; he and F Isaac Likekele (hand) are listed as probable for Thursday. Cunningham has averaged 19.7 points per game this season; he’s scoring 23.0 PPG over his last seven games.
  2. Saturday’s Oklahoma State win repaid a debt from an 87-84 Mountaineers win in Stillwater, Okla., Jan. 4. Each team has three wins over the last six games in this series. High scores have been the trend: the Over is 6-2 in the last eight meetings.
  3. The 2020-21 Mountaineers are a different team from recent-vintage WVU squads that played stellar defense. West Virginia ranks 229th in the nation in scoring defense (72.1 PPG). That figure is up nearly 10 points from WVU’s 62.4 PPG allowed last season. Prior to this winter, the Mountaineers had finished in the Big 12’s top-4 in defense in four of the last five seasons.

Oklahoma State vs. West Virginia: Odds, lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Oklahoma State 76, West Virginia 73

Money line (ML)

The Mountaineers struggle on the boards, and Oklahoma State can leverage second-chance looks and better overall shooting to win this matchup at about a 50% probability.

BACK THE COWBOYS (+135).

Play our new free daily Pick’em Challenge and win! Play now!

Against the spread (ATS)

The Cowboys are a slight lean here. Consider taking OKLAHOMA STATE +3.5 (-115) as an undercard play with money line action on the top.

Over/Under (O/U)

OSU has played to five straight Overs. The Over is 10-2 in WVU’s last dozen games and the Over hit in both regular-season meetings.

The higher total this time around, paired with a contrarian bent in me and the neutral venue scream Under.

A PASS is likely the best decision.

Oklahoma State at West Virginia: Three things to know

  1. Both the Cowboys and Mountaineers are playing their third game of the week. Oklahoma State defeated Oklahoma Monday and lost to Baylor Thursday. West Virginia lost to Baylor Tuesday and downed TCU Thursday.
  2. The Mountaineers defeated TCU Thursday despite shooting just 34.4% from the floor for their worst shooting performance all season. WVU was a plus in rebounding and turnovers against the Horned Frogs. West Virginia outscored TCU by 9 points on 3-pointers and by 6 at the free-throw line. WVU went 26-for-30 (86.7%) from the charity stripe.

Oklahoma State at West Virginia: Odds, lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

West Virginia 80, Oklahoma State 71

Money line (ML)

Cunningham (ankle) and Cowboys G Isaac Likekele are both listed as questionable. With Oklahoma State coming off the tougher Thursday game and with a flight halfway across the country as part of their week, the Mountaineers would be a slight lean at a better price.

PASS, but a line watch on West Virginia is suggested. A -325 tag gets into value territory.

Play our new free daily Pick’em Challenge and win! Play now!

Against the spread (ATS)

In meeting No. 1, WVU got to the free-throw line 29 times and had 16 offensive rebounds. Mix in 3-point shooting and turnover creation and avoidance, and the Mountaineers have two-to-three-possession leverage even without OSU’s injury concerns.

TAKE WEST VIRGINIA -7.5 (-105). An alternate line to consider is WVU -6.5 (-120). Splitting action into both sets of numbers is a solid way to go.

Over/Under (O/U)

Two top-100 tempo teams with numerous Over trends here: TAKE THE OVER 149.5 (-110).

Baylor is No. 3in the Ferris Mowers Coaches Poll powered by USA TODAY Sports. Oklahoma State is ranked 17th.

Oklahoma State at Baylor: Odds, spread and lines

  • Money line: Oklahoma State +525 (bet $100 to win $525) | Baylor -750 (bet $750 to win $100)
  • Against the spread/ATS: Oklahoma State +11.5 (-110) | Baylor -11.5 (-110)
  • Over/Under: 149.5 (O: -110 | U: -110)

Oklahoma State at Baylor: Three things to know

  1. The Bears defeated the Cowboys, 81-66, in Stillwater, Okla., Jan. 23. That game was part of a month-long stretch (Jan. 2-Feb. 2) that saw BU yield just 63.3 points per game. In three games since — and after a COVID-19 hiatus — Baylor has allowed 77.3 PPG.
  2. Since losing to Baylor Jan. 23, Oklahoma State is 8-2, That span includes a 4-0 mark against ranked foes, and it includes the Cowboys being 5-0 over their last five games.
  3. Junior G Isaac Likekele is listed as questionable with a hand injury. The OSU guard hasn’t been much of a scorer of late, but he’s still averaging a respectable 9.8 PPG and he leads the Cowboys in assists (3.7 per game).

Oklahoma State at Baylor: Odds, lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Baylor 72, Oklahoma State 62

Money line (ML)

The tag here is worth a watch. Oklahoma State is surging, and Baylor hasn’t yet captured its pre-February mojo. Consider a play on the Cowboys if the price gets over +550.

Play our new free daily Pick’em Challenge and win! Play now!

Against the spread (ATS)

The Cowboys’ midrange and perimeter defense presents a challenge for the Bears. Don’t expect as much of a shooting differential as in the first meeting in Stillwater. The chances Oklahoma State stays within 10 are good enough to warrant a COWBOYS +11.5 (-110) wager.

Over/Under (O/U)

Both teams are coming off hard-fought Tuesday games. The Over in meeting No. 1 was 140-/12.

There isn’t too much of a lean here, but what there is favors the UNDER 149.5 (-110).
