Ohio State lands offensive lineman to the 2022 class

The second commitment in as many days for the Ohio State football program!

After a lengthy period of quiet on the Ohio State football recruiting front, the Buckeyes have landed two prospects for the 2022 class in as many days. Tuesday, OSU got a big one from four-star defensive end Kenyatta Jackson, followed up Wednesday morning with news that three-star offensive lineman Avery Henry is also joining the Buckeye football program.

Out of Saint Clairsville, Ohio, Henry stands at 6-foot, 6-inches, and 305-pounds. He is rated as the No. 134 offensive tackle in the class according to the 247Sports Composite Rankings, but obviously, Ohio State thinks it got a player that is severely undersold. In fact, it’s often that we see offensive linemen as the underrated players that end up developing all that size and ability into something special.

Henry’s commitment makes it 16 that have now committed to the 2022 class, one that was tops among all programs early on and still in the top ten. Ryan Day and staff are still looking to add to the class with a strong, finishing kick.

BOOM! Ohio State gets commitment from four-star defensive end, Kenyatta Jackson

Ohio State gets its first verbal commitment from a defensive lineman in the class of 2022 and it’s a big one!

It’s been a minute since we’ve had some big recruiting news. Today, we got some as four-star defensive end Kenyatta Jackson committed to Ohio State.

Jackson makes 15 commits to the Buckeye class of 2022 but is the first defensive lineman to commit in the class. The edge rusher from Hollywood, Florida is the No. 7 ranked defensive end in the nation according to 247Sports composite rankings and is a top 100 player overall.

Jackson’s recruitment came down to Ohio State and Oklahoma. Jackson said after some time of prayer and fasting with his grandmother, he felt like Ohio State was the best fit for him personally.

The Buckeyes currently have the No. 5 recruiting class in the county but hope to add more in the weeks to come as players will be making official visits this fall. Hopefully, this will add a little momentum to a class that started out white-hot but has gone quiet for a bit.

2022 four-star safety, Xavier Nwankpa, trims list to final three, includes Ohio State

Ohio State makes the cut for one of the top safety in the 2022 class, Xavier Nwankpa.

The No. 3 ranked safety in the 2022 recruiting class has trimmed his list to a final three and Ohio State has made the cut. After finding out they are in the top five for Sonny Styles, the No. 1 safety in the 2023 class, Buckeye fans heard the good news about four-star safety Xavier Nwankpa, via his personal Twitter account.

Nwankpa’s recruitment has been going on for quite some time, but it looks like he is close to making an announcement. Along with Ohio State, the Iowa native has included on his list the in-state Hawkeyes and Notre Dame.

At this time, Nwankpa has two crystal ball predictions to OSU, but neither are very high confidence. This recruitment could go any direction and we wouldn’t be surprised either way.

Nwankpa is projected as a first-round talent and would be a nice boost to the 2022 Buckeye recruiting class.

Top 2023 target, Sonny Styles, puts Ohio State in top 5

Ohio State has made the top five for the No. 1 safety in the 2023 class.

Well, we’re barely into the 2021 season and Ohio State is still securing commitments from the class of 2022, but that doesn’t mean the Buckeye coaching staff isn’t looking deeper into the future. Local product, Sonny Styles, has been on the Ohio State radar for quite some time now and he recently let the Bucks know they’re on his radar as well.

Styles hails from Pickerington Central high school where he is currently a top 10 prospect and the No. 1 rated safety in the class. Even at this young age, recruiting experts project Styles to be a first-round NFL talent and compares to Isaiah Simmons of the Arizona Cardinals.

The five-star prospect trimmed his list to five which in addition to Ohio State includes, Clemson, Florida, Notre Dame, and Ole Miss. At this point, the Fighting Irish have the only crystal ball prediction to land Styles, but there is a long way to go in his recruitment.

Styles is the son of former Buckeye, Lorenzo Styles, where he played linebacker at Ohio State in the mid-90s and went on to play six seasons in the NFL. Maybe son will follow in dear ol’ dad’s footsteps and chose to wear scarlet and gray as well.

Four-star small forward Brice Sensabaugh commits to Ohio State

Ohio State landed another big one for the hoops 2022 class on Tuesday.

Four-star power forward Brice Sensabaugh is coming to Ohio State as a member of the 2022 recruiting class that now has five guys in the fold.

Out of Lake Highland Prep in Orlando, Florida, Sensabaugh is ranked as the No. 21 small forward and 75th overall prospect in the class according to the 247Sports Composite Rankings. Sensabaugh chose Ohio State among a final four of  OSU, Alabama, Georgia Tech, and Florida.

At 6-foot, 6-inches, and 240-pounds, Sensabaugh was thought to be a heavy lean to Ohio State due to it being his father’s alma mater, and with some family still living in Columbus. Sensabaugh is also AAU teammates with OSU commit Bruce Thorton.

With him a part of the class, Ohio State thinks it is getting a big body that can be a matchup nightmare. He can post smaller guards up in the post, yet has the range to cause problems for bigs trying to check him out on the perimeter.

Sensabaugh joins the aforementioned Thorton, Bowen Hardman, Roddy Gayle, and Felix Okpara in a class that is currently rated as a top-five one.

Ohio State basketball recruit to make decision Tuesday on Instagram live

Brice Sensabaugh set to announce his college decision on Tuesday.

The Ohio State basketball team is hoping to add another key piece to its 2022 recruiting class later today. Four-star prospect Brice Sensabaugh will make his college decision on Instagram live at 4 p.m. EDT.

Sensabaugh is a 6-5 small forward from Orlando, Florida, and is ranked as a top 100 overall player according to 247 Sports composite rankings. Sensabaugh has narrowed his choice to four programs which include OSU, Alabama, Florida, and Georgia Tech. Crystal ball predictions are going for the Buckeyes with high confidence of seven out of ten.

Currently, Ohio State sits with the No. 5 overall recruiting class in the nation but has been ranked as high as No. 1 overall. Should Sensabaugh choose the Bucks, it would give the class ranking another boost.

Sensabaugh is originally from Ohio and his father attended Ohio State. He would be joining four other commits who plan to call Columbus home for the next four years in Bruce Thornton, Felix Okpara, Roddy Gayle Jr., and Bowen Hardman.

Ohio State WR target Carnell Tate scores in Ohio, throws up O-H

Should we read anything into this?

The Ohio State football team is hoping to get some good news on October 8 when four-star 2023 wide receiver Carnell Tate announces his commitment. All indications are that Tate is down to OSU and Notre Dame as the date nears, and we may have just gotten a peek at which way Tate is leaning.

In fact, Tate’s high school team, IMG Academy out of Bradenton, Florida, was up in Ohio at Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium taking on Bishop Sycamore as a part of the Geico High School Football Kickoff. Tate did not disappoint.

The class of 2023’s No. 10 ranked wide receiver and 58th overall prospect according to the 247Sports Composite Rankings returned a punt 38-yards and tallied two touchdowns in the first half. One of those was a wrestling match against three defenders to get into the end zone. And while that’s all fine and good, it’s what Tate did after the fact that might have you smiling as an Ohio State fan.

Tate promptly got up from manhandling defenders to pay dirt and flashed an O-H to the crowd.

It wasn’t the only time Tate flashed an O-H either. He also did so heading off onto the sidelines at one point. Maybe he’s doing it because he’s in Ohio, or maybe there’s something to read into there. 247Sports currently has the Fighting Irish and Buckeyes as a toss-up with its Crystal Ball predictions.

Either way, we should find out on October 8.

Five-Star edge rusher Omari Abor keeps Ohio State in trimmed list

Ohio State has made the top five for the No. 2 edge rusher in the nation.

Five-star recruit, Omari Abor, The No. 18 player in the 2022 class and No. 2 edge rusher according to 247 Sports composite ratings has narrowed his list to five schools. Ohio State made the cut in April when the list was ten and is still in the running now that only five schools remain in consideration.

The Texas native kept the Buckeyes on the list with AlabamaLSUTexas, and Texas A&M. Those missing the cut were Arizona State, Georgia, Missouri, Oklahoma, and USC. Ironically, 247 Sports crystal ball predictions have had the Sooners as the leader in the clubhouse, but it appears OU’s chances have taken a serious hit.

Abor took an official visit to Ohio State in June and seemed to really enjoy his time on campus saying he liked the feel, talking with the coaches, and how they talked about more than just football, but about life too. It’s a reoccurring theme we hear from recruits.

As of now, Ohio State is still looking for the first defensive lineman to sign with the Buckeyes in the 2022 class. Abor would obviously be a great addition to an already strong class that is currently ranked third in the nation.

Five star 2022 defensive end includes Ohio State in top five schools

This would be another huge get on the defensive line if Ohio State can get him on campus and impress.

The Ohio State football program has been an NFL defensive line factory over the last few years. The Bosa Brothers, Sam Hubbard, Chase Young, and Cameron Heyward are some that have come out and made a pretty big splash at the highest level. And it’s why some of the top defensive line prospects continue to give Larry Johnson and OSU a look, without any signs of it slowing down anytime soon.

I mean the Buckeyes have freshmen J.T. Tuimoloau and Jack Sawyer locked and loaded in the pipeline, and we might very well see both Zach Harrison and Tyreke Smith be monsters off each edge as veterans this season that have a possibility of cashing in during the 2022 NFL draft.

You’d have to think that at least had something to do then with the latest 5-star defensive end including Ohio State in his top five. At 6-foot, 5-inches, and 260-pounds, Shemar Stewart is ranked as the No. 3 defensive line and eighth overall prospect in the country according to the 247Sports Composite Rankings.

And he just announced the Buckeyes in a top-five that also includes Clemson, Georgia, Miami, and Texas A&M.

The in-state ‘Canes appear to be the modest leader for the Opa Locka, Florida native at this point, but we all know how this song and dance works in the high-stakes game of big-time college football recruiting. OSU would love nothing more than to get Steward on campus and pull out all the stops.

There’s been more than one kid visit the banks of the Olentangy without Ohio State as the leader and decide to wear the scarlet and gray when the ink hit the paper.

Oh yeah, and as a sign of the times, and something you’ll probably be seeing more of, Stewart’s announcement was complete with a website launch and pretty aggressive logo. It looks cool, and that’s about all you need to know without trying to figure out what he’s going for here.
