Ryan Day to Texas A&M? It’s a long shot

Is Ohio State head coach Ryan Day a legitimate candidate for the Texas A&M opening? Maybe, but it’s not too realistic.

Texas A&M’s week-old search for its next football head coach after Jimbo Fisher’s dismissal has produced a list of intriguing names. While Aggies athletic director Ross Bjork is hard at work narrowing his list, TexAgs’ co-owner Billy Liucci, a leading A&M insider, provided an update regarding Ohio State head coach Ryan Day, who, yes, is still a semi-legitimate candidate at this stage.

On Wednesday, just a day before we all enjoy Thanksgiving, Liucci isn’t sold on the idea of Day making his way to College Station from one of the best programs in the country. Still, crazier things have happened, including current LSU head coach Bryan Kelly leaving Notre Dame just two short years ago.

“There is Ryan Day smoke, but I’m very skeptical of the Ryan Day smoke,” Liucci stated. “I’m skeptical that that’s not an agent drumming up stuff. I will continue to include Ryan Day as a candidate. That’s not who I would expect them to land.”

However, the pressure is on full blast this weekend for No. 2 Ohio State’s road trip to No. 3 Michigan for the “The Game,” which is the de facto Big 10 championship.

If the Buckeyes were to lose, who knows what the future holds for Day in Columbus? As one of the country’s oldest and most successful programs, fans expect championships year after year, and 10- or 11-win seasons become more meaningless year after year.

“That one, there is enough smoke to where I’m like ‘Go lose to Michigan and see if that gets interesting at all,” Liucci stated.” I think there are a couple more people, in my mind, that are a lot more likely than Ryan Day.”

All of this remains hearsay, but just like Washington head coach Kalen DeBoer, who, according to Liucci, also remains a candidate, it’s critical to pay attention to how events play out on the final weekend of the regular season.

Texas A&M will take on 14th-ranked LSU on Saturday, Nov. 25 at 11 a.m. CT., and ESPN will carry the game.

5-stars: The best and worst of Ohio State’s Senior Day win over Minnesota

Who played well and who didn’t for the Buckeyes? #GoBucks

It was a very successful senior day for Ohio State football, as it used a dominant third quarter to put away Minnesota, 37-3.

The Buckeyes received plenty of strong play from both sides of the ball. There was also aspects Ohio State could have been much better at.

This week two players reached five-star status, the best of what we saw on Saturday evening. There was also two units that didn’t play at a championship level, which earned them the lower stars.

Find out below who which were the best (five-star) and worst (one-star), performances for Ohio State in its win over Minnesota.

Which Ohio State football players earned their Buckeyes leaves against Michigan State

These Ohio State football players earned their Buckeyes leaves against Michigan State

[autotag]Ohio State football[/autotag] once again defeated Michigan State, as they jumped all over the Spartans early and coasted to a 38-6 home victory.

The Buckeyes were up 21 points before MSU scored a field goal and ended the half up 35-3. Ohio State played much more conservative in the second half, only scoring a field goal in the final 30 minutes of the contest.

Even though there wasn’t much action in the second half, plenty of Buckeye football players performed as a high level. Here are the Ohio State players in my eyes that fully earned their Buckeye leaf helmet decals in the win over Michigan State.

Five keys for Ohio State football to defeat Michigan State

What are your keys Buckeye fans?

The home stretch for [autotag]Ohio State football[/autotag] is here, with just three remaining regular season games left starting tonight at 7:30 p.m. ET against Michigan State.

The Buckeyes come into the game with an unblemished record, 9-0, ranked as the top team according to the College Football Playoff rankings, are facing a Spartan team that has seen it’s season spiral out of control.

The dismissal of Mel Tucker, then the 6-game losing streak which was finally broken last week in a close win over Nebraska. Ohio State still has to take care of business, regardless of how its opponents have played. Here are five keys for a Buckeye victory.

Sooners slide, remain in front of Bedlam foes in US LBM Coaches Poll

The Oklahoma Sooners dropped back several spots but stayed in front of Bedlam rivals in latest US LBM Coaches Poll.

Oklahoma’s loss in Bedlam ended with unfortunate extenuating circumstances. As poor as the Sooners played, they still had a chance to win the game late, but a no-call on pass interference in the end zone changed how the final few minutes should have played out.

Still, it gets chalked up as a loss for the Sooners, who fell to 7-2 and 4-2 in Big 12 play. The [autotag]College Football Playoff[/autotag] may have been a long shot before, but now those hopes are pretty well dashed. There’s an outside shot they could make it to Arlington for the Big 12 title game, but they’d need a lot of help to get there.

It was disappointing to end to [autotag]Bedlam[/autotag], especially since Oklahoma State has no interest in continuing the rivalry beyond this year.

Despite the loss to the Cowboys, the Sooners stayed in front of their Bedlam rivals in the first poll out Sunday. They also stayed in front of the [autotag]Kansas Jayhawks[/autotag], who beat the Sooners a week ago. That’s a testament to the improvement the Sooners have made from their 2022 season. The coaches voting in the poll respect what the Sooners have accomplished in one short season under Brent Venables.

There’s still a lot of room for improvement, but the Sooners defense is trending in the right direction under Venables. If you want a positive takeaway from the loss, it’s that Oklahoma has a defense that plays winning football, even if is still giving up a lot of yards.

In this week’s US LBM Coaches Poll, the top five remained the same after Week 10. In a surprise, the USC Trojans fell out of the top 25.

Here’s a look at the full top 25 of the US LBM Coaches Poll.

Projecting the first College Football Playoff Rankings of 2023

The first College Football Playoff rankings of 2023 will be released Tuesday evening, what could it look like? Where will the Sooners land?

The initial College Football Playoff rankings will be released Tuesday evening. A little over halfway through the 2023 regular season, the contenders have begun to establish themselves.

Heading into the final month before conference championship games, this year feels as wide open as any in previous seasons. At the same time, the two-time defending national champion Georgia Bulldogs have begun to look like the dominant force of the last two seasons.

Is there a team in college football that can beat them?

As for the Oklahoma Sooners, the loss to Kansas was a bummer, but OU still has a lot to play for in 2023 and can earn a spot in the playoff if they run the table from here on out.

So as we await the initial College Football Playoff rankings, here’s a look at our projections. Weight was given to teams that found success against ranked opponents.

Here’s a look at how the playoff rankings could look when released Tuesday evening.

The Badgers football team hosted #3 Ohio State for a conference matchup on Saturday at Camp Randall, falling to the Buckeyes 24-10. The game was knotted up at 10 a piece in the third quarter, but Wisconsin wasn’t able to pull away and secure the upset.

The Badgers defense stepped up in the tough matchup, intercepting the Ohio State quarterback Kyle McCord twice while also forcing a fumble on a sack. Most notably, Wisconsin cornerback Ricardo Hallman snatched his fifth interception in the loss.

As for offense, Braedyn Locke threw for 165 yards and a touchdown in the contest while Braelon Allen had 50 yards on 10 carries before exiting the game with a leg injury.

For the Buckeyes, running back TreVeyon Henderson churned out 162 yards and a score on 24 carries while wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr had six catches for 123 yards and two scores.

BadgersWire Staff Predictions: Wisconsin looks to snap skid vs Ohio St

Can the Badgers get improbable win?

Wisconsin is coming off of a 25-21 win over Illinois last week. In that game, the Badgers’ quarterback redshirt freshman Braedyn Locke made his first career start against the Fighting Illini, compiling 240 passing yards and two touchdowns.

Ohio State beat Penn State in a battle of two undefeated teams 20-12, earning themselves a huge Big Ten victory. Wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. reeled in a career-high 11 catches for 162 yards and a score.

Luke Fickell, a former player and long time coach for the Buckeyes, is now in charge of the Badgers and he’ll look to snap the program’s nine-game losing streak to their Big Ten rivals.

Here is how our BadgersWire staff sees it all playing out:

The Barstool College Football show will be in Madison this weekend for the Badgers’ Big Ten matchup with #3 Ohio State (7-0) at 6:30 on Saturday at Camp Randall.

Wisconsin will look to snap a nine-game losing streak, a stretch that includes three Big Ten Championship games, versus the Buckeyes. Head coach Luke Fickell is a former player and coach for Ohio State and he’ll be squaring off with his alma mater for the first time as the Badgers’ leading man.

As for Barstool, Dan “Big Cat” Katz is a Wisconsin alum and he’s attended multiple sporting events as a member of the media, including the 2022 Big Ten clinching win over Purdue in men’s basketball a couple years ago.

PHOTOS: Badgers versus Ohio State All-time series

Will Badgers get first win over Buckeyes since 2010?

The Badgers football team (5-2) will host Ohio State (7-0) on Saturday at 6:30PM. The two programs have faced each other 85 times throughout their football history with Wisconsin owning a 18-62-5 overall record against their Big Ten foe.

Over the last 10 matchups, the Badgers have gone 1-9, losing nine in a row. The team’s last win came at home in 2010, defeating the Buckeyes 31-18. Last season, Ohio State won in Columbus by a score of 52-21.

The most notable storyline for the contest is head coach Luke Fickell, who played college football with Ohio State as a defensive end (1993-1996) before joining the coaching staff from 2002-2016.

The Badgers are very much back in the thick of it in the Big Ten West and Luke Fickell and his squad will look to pull off the upset versus the third-ranked Buckeyes.

Here’s a couple pics from their last 10 matchups:
