Breaking: Nyier Daniels to take a Rutgers football official visit

Rutgers football will host one of New Jersey’s top players next weekend in Nyier Daniels.

One of the top players in New Jersey, offensive lineman Nyier Daniels, has locked in an official visit to Rutgers football.

A source close to the situation tells Rutgers Wire that the four-star offensive lineman will be on the Rutgers campus next week for an official visit. Daniels is currently on an official visit this weekend at Florida State. The 6-foot-8, 353-pound offensive lineman for Bergen Catholic (Oradell, N.J.) is one of the top offensive linemen in the nation.

Andrews is a member of the 2024 recruiting class.

He is a four-star recruit according to 247Sports, ESPN.com and On3. He is the second-best player in New Jersey per 247Sports.

Rutgers recently got an important verbal from Raynor Andrews, a three-star offensive lineman from Florida. Andrews holds a number of top offers including Colorado, Florida State and West Virginia among others.

Including Florida State this weekend and Rutgers next weekend, Daniels has a total of four official visits planned. His other two visits are Georgia the week of June 16 and then Texas on June 23.

Recently, Daniels spoke to Rutgers Wire about his thoughts on the program:

“I believe going to Rutgers can not only help my development as a student-athlete that someday hopefully will lead to the NFL, but also being from New Jersey I can build my brand in college and down the road after my playing career.”

He also spoke as to the impact he could have on Rutgers football if he joined the current recruiting class:

“It is somewhat appealing to me. There are some real good players in New Jersey. Most have decided to go to schools out of state, for whatever reason. I believe that can change. I can see a great future at Rutgers.”

4-star New Jersey OT plans visit to Georgia in June

New Jersey 4-star OT visiting UGA in June, per @RutgersWire.

2024 4-star offensive tackle Nyier Daniels (Oradell, New Jersey/Bergen Catholic High School) has some summer visits coming up.

Ranked as the second-best player in New Jersey according to 247Sports, Daniels is a 6-foot-7, 355-pound offensive tackle who Georgia initially offered back in January.

The nation’s No. 129 ranked player recently spoke with Kristian Dyer from Rutgers Wire about his summer plans, which include a June 16 visit to Athens, Georgia.

“I’m hoping to see where I fit,” Daniels told Rutgers Wire. “It’s like putting on a pair of Nikes, trying to see what fits best and is the best for me.”

Daniels is hoping to make his commitment prior to the start of his senior season, and told Rutgers Wire that he’s aiming for a late July or early August decision date.

In addition to his June 16 visit to Georgia, he’ll also be visiting Florida State (June 2), Miami (June 9) and Texas (June 23). Plus a visit to Rutgers as well, but that date is undetermined.

Four-star offensive lineman Nyier Daniels has five visits locked in place, this as one of New Jersey’s top prospects is moving towards a summer decision.

Daniels, a 6-foot-7, 355-pound offensive tackle from Bergen Catholic (Oradell, N.J.), is the second-best player in New Jersey according to 247Sports. ESPN, On3 and 247Sports all have him ranked as a four-star recruit.

He was a huge reason for Bergen Catholic’s undefeated season as they finished the undisputed team in New Jersey football.

As for his official visits, Daniels tells Rutgers Wire on Wednesday that he has “Georgia, Miami, Florida State, Texas and Rutgers planned.” He will be taking these five official visits with an eye, he says, towards deciding in late July or early August at the latest.

“I’m hoping to see where I fit,” Daniels told Rutgers Wire. “It’s like putting on a pair of Nikes, trying to see what fits best and is the best for me.”
Daniels is hoping to decide before his senior season, a decision he says will allow him to focus on his final year of high school football at Bergen Catholic.

Badgers offer 6-foot-7 offensive lineman from New Jersey

The Badgers offered Nyier Daniels, a three-star class of 2024 offensive lineman from Oradell, New Jersey on Tuesday.

The Badgers offered Nyier Daniels, a three-star offensive lineman from Oradell, New Jersey on Tuesday. The class of 2024 athlete is 6-foot-7, 340 pounds and still has one more year of high school football at Bergen Catholic before he’d make the jump to the collegiate level.

To this point, Daniels has received 18 Division 1 offers, including seven programs from within the Big Ten. Due to his size and stature, he projects as either a left tackle or right tackle moving forward and could be a forced to be reckoned with for years to come.

With four-star quarterback Mabrey Mettauer (The Woodlands, Texas) already committed for the class of 2024, Daniels could be his blindside blocker for multiple seasons with Wisconsin.

Florida hosting a ton of blue-chip talent in final January recruiting weekend

The Gators are hosting one final recruiting weekend before the February dead period goes into effect.

The college football recruiting dead period begins on Monday and lasts all the way through February, so Florida is closing out January by hosting a ton of blue-chip recruits on Saturday for the final Junior Day of the month.

Several prospects have confirmed their plans to attend the event, and it’s safe to say that this is the biggest recruiting weekend of the month for the program. To make that even more clear, five-star quarterback [autotag]DJ Lagway[/autotag] will be in town to help recruit for his future school.

Perhaps the biggest name in town not under commitment will be five-star running back [autotag]Jerrick Gibson[/autotag], who is ranked No. 11 overall in the class of 2024 on the On3 consensus and No. 10 on the 247Sports composite. Florida is an attractive landing spot for any running back with Billy Napier at the helm, and landing the top back in the class would be huge for the Gators.

On defense, linebacker/edge rusher [autotag]Adarius Hayes[/autotag] might be the top name set to visit at No. 55 overall on the On3 consensus. Lagway will be in his ear this weekend, and Hayes is already sweet on Florida. He won’t be the only top-100 defender in town, though. Florida State defensive back commit [autotag]Jordan Pride[/autotag] (No. 80) and undecided edge rusher [autotag]KingJoseph Edwards[/autotag] (No. 37) are also planning on visiting the Swamp this weekend.

A slew of four-star recruits from the class of 2024 will be in town as well. Linebacker [autotag]Qua Birdsong[/autotag] (No. 157), offensive tackle [autotag]Blake Frazier[/autotag] (No. 273), athlete [autotag]Lawayne McCoy[/autotag] (No. 298) and safety [autotag]Zavier Mincey[/autotag] (No. 333) are slated to stop by. Offensive tackle [autotag]Barry Walker[/autotag] (No. 383), defensive linemen [autotag]Dimitry Nicolas[/autotag] (No. 355) and [autotag]LJ McCray[/autotag] (No. 401) and offensive tackle [autotag]Nyier Daniels[/autotag] (No. 541) round out the three-stars on the On3 consensus visiting, and more could join as the day goes on.

Interior offensive lineman [autotag]Santana Alo-Tupuola[/autotag] and safety [autotag]Semaj Jackson[/autotag] are three-star recruits by 247Sports’ individual measure but have no On3 consensus ranking yet. Jackson is ranked No. 679 overall on the 247Sports composite.

Finally, from the class of 2025, quarterback Tramel Jones, wide receiver Koby Howard (Sunday), defensive lineman Myron Charles, edge rushers [autotag]Jared Smith[/autotag] and [autotag]Dylon Worthen[/autotag] and safety [autotag]Ethan Prichard[/autotag] are expected in town.
