Alabama had five players score in double figures with a pair of those being a little bit surprising in Noah Gurley and Nick Pringle.

A strong second-half performance was the difference in the matchup as the Crimson Tide outscored the Tigers 51-32 in the final 20 minutes.

[autotag]Nate Oats[/autotag] and the Alabama men’s basketball team went on the road on Saturday and took down Kelvin Sampson and the No. 1 ranked Houston Cougars.

Not only did Alabama get the impressive win, but the Tide also had to recover from a 15-point second-half deficit to win the matchup between top-ten teams.

Alabama was led by freshman big man Noah Clowney who tallied 16 points, 11 rebounds, and 2 blocks.

Star forward Brandon Miller did not have his best game of the season, but the freshman came through in the clutch sinking all six of his free throws in the final minute to seal the victory for the Tide.

Here is everything coach Oats had to say following the monumental win.

LOOK: Twitter reacts to Alabama taking down No. 1 Houston on the road

For the second time this season, Alabama has defeated the top-ranked team in the nation. Fans react to Alabama taking down Houston on the road.

Just a few weeks after Nate Oats and Alabama Men’s Basketball took down then-top-ranked UNC, the Crimson Tide defeats another top-ranked team. This time, it was on the road against Houston by a final score of 71-65.

Despite fighting hard and keeping it close in the first half, the game got out of hand quickly in favor of Houston. After opening the second half only down four, the Crimson Tide fell behind by double digits.

Noah Clowney led the team with 16 points, and 11 rebounds. However, the team was resilient overall and maintained the physicality throughout the game.

Last season, these two teams met in Tuscaloosa and the Tide walked away from the heated contest with a one-point win.

Alabama fans and college basketball enthusiasts from across the country were quick to rect to the Crimson Tide’s statement win.

Alabama forward Noah Clowney eager to win as 2022-2023 season approaches

Alabama freshman Noah Clowney is eager to win with the Tide this season. On Thursday, he spoke with the media about his expectations for the season.

Alabama freshman forward Noah Clowney was a key piece of the Tide’s 2022 recruiting class that was brought in. The South Carolina native was ranked as the No. 96 overall recruit in the country, according to 247Sports’ recruiting rankings.

He is listed at 6-foot-10, 205 pounds. Nate Oats and the rest of the coaching staff are expecting big things out of the freshman this season. On Thursday, he spoke with the media about some of his goals entering his first year of action in Tuscaloosa. Clowney responded by saying this:

“I don’t really have individual goals. Obviously, I want to play at the next level but I want to win games. I don’t think nobody like losing. I feel like everybody on the team that had a chance to feel what losing feel like in high school. I lost my last two years in state championships, so nobody likes to lose. You know you can change that every day at practice. You don’t win games when you go out there. You win games when you’re practicing in the summer and in the fall.”

After performing well in Alabama’s tour overseas as well as two exhibitions, Clowney is expected to be a crucial piece in the Tide’s frontcourt. His length and versatility can provide a challenge to opposing defenses. Not to mention, he can finish at the rim and produce on the offensive end. Nonetheless, his eagerness to win is something that should set the tone early in the locker room this season.

Roll Tide Wire will continue to follow Clowney’s career at Alabama as well as other Tide basketball news.

ESPN basketball analyst visits Alabama basketball practice and raves about two players

ESPN College basketball analyst Seth Greenberg made a stop in Tuscaloosa to visit with Nate Oats’ squad.

On Wednesday, ESPN College Basketball analyst Seth Greenberg visited the Alabama basketball team’s practice. He tweeted about the pace at practice and mentioned two players in particular: Brandon Miller and Noah Clowney.

This doesn’t come as much of a surprise considering how well Miller and Clowney played in the tour overseas as well as in this weekend’s closed scrimmage against TCU. These two will likely be very instrumental to the team’s success this season.

Clowney possesses great length and size at 6-foot-10, 210 pounds. Head coach Nate Oats and the rest of the staff are expecting big things from the South Carolina native during his freshman campaign. When Greenberg spoke about Clowney, he said, “Noah Clowney is a big-time prospect. Clowney has great hands, a motor, and plays with an edge.”

Those are hefty compliments for an incoming freshman that hasn’t played up to this point. On the other hand, Greenberg went on to rave about McDonald’s All-American Brandon Miller. Greenberg compared Miller to Pelicans forward Brandon Ingram. Considering Ingram is one of the more elite forwards in the league should be a promising sign of Miller’s potential.

The Alabama basketball team will kick their season off on Nov. 7 against the Longwood Lancers. It will be interesting to see the role these two play and how they develop over the course of the season.

Roll Tide Wire will continue to follow Alabama basketball news.

This top 100 recruit named Florida basketball in his top 4

One of the Gators top targets for 2022 has named Florida in his top four

Noah Clowney, a top 100 recruit according to both Rivals and 247Sports, cut his list of ten schools down to four on Wednesday: Alabama, Florida, Indiana and Virginia Tech.

Florida has zero commits for 2022 as it stands, and an athletic big who projects to split time between the four and five positions would be a great start for the Gators.

There’s plenty of time to convince Clowney as he’ll be taking official visits to all four schools over August and September. He then plans to mull over his decision until the early part of November. Clowney will visit Gainesville on Sept. 3.

Colin Castleton is likely to depart to the draft after this season and Clowney would be showing up at the perfect time to get minutes as a freshman if he chooses Florida. Opportunity may be what separates the Gators from some of the other schools vying for Clowney. That said, the coaching staff’s success is what impresses him most.

“Like with all the schools, they win. That’s what I like,” Clowney said to 247Sports. “They have a great coaching staff. It would be a nice area to play at. I haven’t seen their playing style yet, so they’ll show me all of that.”

Rivals ranks Clowney at No. 55 overall and as the tenth best center in the class of 2022. 247Sports has him a bit lower on the site’s industry-generated composite list but he still checks in at No. 73 nationally and No. 11 for power forwards. Both services have him listed as a four-star prospect.
