Michigan State Basketball 2021 4-star commit Pierre Brooks II has been tearing it up for Douglass Academy. He is currently ranked the No. 66 player in the country in the 2021 class, but one Nike scout thinks he might be ranked even higher if more scouts were able to come watch him play in person.

Vince Baldwin, who is a Nike Basketball Scout, an NBA Consultant, and an NCAA Certified Recruiting analyst went on Twitter on Wednesday night to praise Pierre Brooks. Brooks had just put up 45 points, 14 rebounds and 10 assists in a win for Detroit Fredrick Douglass last night.

Here is what Baldwin said about the future Spartan:

Check out the new Air Jordan 5 PE shoes Florida football just unveiled

The Air Jordan 5 gets dressed in a sleek new colorway paying homage to the Florida Gators as a Player Edition shoe for the program.

Being a Jordan Brand sponsored program has its perks. Not only do players and fans get to rock the latest gear with the iconic Jumpman logo on it but we get to see some new colorways of classic Air Jordan models.

For the Florida Gators, they made the switch over to Jordan Brand in 2018 as the football program became the latest to join the growing list of teams for the sponsor. As time has gone on, we have seen Florida’s blue and orange colors be used for new gear and the latest example should have Gators’ fans excited.

Earlier this week Florida unveiled a Player Edition Air Jordan 5 model that is dressed in Gators colors featuring a vibrant blue on the upper and complimented by Orange on the tongue and midsole. The shoe is finished off with the Gators mascot on the tongue, giving it a sleek design. Check out the first images of the shoe below:

These shoes will not be available to the public and instead will go to athletes, coaches and staff members.

Nike’s SNKRS app broke Twitter again with its latest Jordan 1 release

Sneakerheads all over took an L on the latest Air Jordan 1 drop from Nike.

To be a sneakerhead is to be the living embodiment of the “Here we go again” meme.

Every week there’s a new, hyped up shoe release that comes on Nike’s SNKRS app. It’s almost always short in stock and there are almost always hundreds of thousands of people lined up to get it. And, every single time, so many folks take the obligatory L and miss out on the shoe.

That happened again on Wednesday with Nike’s latest Jordan 1 “Neutral Grey” drop.

This will go down as one of the most highly coveted releases of 2021. The Neutral Grey colorway just came back for the first time since the Jordan 1 dropped in 1985. It was one of the original colorways of the shoe.

They’re pretty sleek.

So, yeah, this thing is special. And, on top of that, Nike only made 23,000 pairs of this thing.

You already know what that means. Complete chaos on the internet.

Jets, Nike announce pilot high school girls flag football league in New Jersey

Eight New Jersey high schools will join the pilot league.

The Jets and Nike announced the creation of a brand-new high school girls flag football league in New Jersey in honor of National Girls and Women in Sports Day.

Eight New Jersey high schools will receive an $11,000 grant and equipment from the Jets and Nike for joining the New Jersey High School Girls Flag Football League. Each school will also receive team jerseys from Nike’s Girls Flag Football line.

The schools are East Orange Campus (East Orange, NJ), Indian Hills High School (Oakland, NJ), Irvington High School (Irvington, NJ), Malcolm X Shabazz High School (Newark, NJ), Morristown High School (Morristown, NJ), Passaic County Technical Institute (Wayne, NJ), Ramapo High School (Franklin Lakes, NJ) and William L. Dickinson High School (Jersey City, NJ).

“Since our initial involvement in the launch of a girls flag football league in New York, our goal has always been to continue to provide young women in our community with the opportunity to play the sport we all know and love,” Jets President Hymie Elhai said in a statement. “We are excited to begin this new league in New Jersey, officially building on those efforts.”

The North Jersey Super Football Conference (NJSFC) and the New Jersey Interscholastic Athletic Association (NJSIAA) also worked with the Jets and Nike to build the league.

“Although flag football isn’t a sanctioned sport in New Jersey for boys or girls, NJSIAA applauds the Jets for creating additional opportunities for female student-athletes,” COO of NJSIAA Colleen Maguire said. “NJSIAA believes kids are best served by being active and engaged, and we salute the team’s efforts.”

The Jets will also film and produce a video series with Nike that highlights the individual journeys of the players that culminate with the beginning of the league and the first annual Jets x Nike Girls Flag Invitational. The team hopes to include more New Jersey area high schools in the coming seasons.

“Our hope is to be able to continue to utilize our platform and not only share the resources with them to play, but to help inspire and encourage each girl to reach her full potential in whatever she chooses to pursue in life,” Elhai added.

Rockets unveil new ‘H-Town Blue’ court for Thursday’s home opener

As promised, Houston is debuting the new “H-Town Blue” court design to match its City Edition jerseys when worn at home this season.

As promised, the Houston Rockets will debut a new “H-Town Blue” court on New Year’s Eve to accentuate the launch of their light blue City Edition jerseys for the 2020-21 season. The team showcased the new design on Tuesday night across its numerous social media channels.

Thursday’s game against Sacramento will also serve as Houston’s regular-season home opener, since last week’s scheduled opener was postponed due to an assortment of COVID-19 issues with the Rockets.

This will be the first time in many years that the Rockets have featured an alternate court design. For all of Nike’s other uniform combinations, Toyota Center will have its traditional court with red trim.

For a team with red as the primary color throughout most of its history, the choice of light blue certainly draws attention. The Rockets briefly had navy blue uniforms in the late 1990s, but this represents the secondary color from that era, rather than the primary. The light blue also ties in with the former Houston Oilers of the National Football League (NFL).

Over the first half of the 2020-21 season, these are the dates in which Houston is currently scheduled to wear the blue jerseys. Most are at home, which is where they will also have the blue court.

Dec. 31, home (with custom court) versus Sacramento
Jan. 12, home (with court) versus Los Angeles Lakers
Jan. 16, road at San Antonio
Jan. 20, home (with court) versus Phoenix
Jan. 26, home (with court) versus Washington
Jan. 28, home (with court) versus Portland
Feb. 15, road at Washington
Feb. 19, home (with court) versus Dallas
March 3, home (with court) versus Brooklyn

In all, Houston will have five jersey sets this season: the red Icon; white Association; black Statement; blue City; and a new Earned set, which has yet to be released and will debut later in the season. The Icon, Association and Statement uniforms are the same as last season.

Kobe fans were mad at Nike’s SNKRS app after they couldn’t get the Kobe 6 ‘Grinch’ on Christmas Eve

Not again.

Sneaker heads and Kobe Bryant fans are upset on the internet once again.

Remember how, back in August during Nike’s Mamba week, they were furious they weren’t able to buy shoes from Bryant’s signature shoe line on Nike’s SNKRS app? Well, it’s happened again.

This time, it’s the Kobe 6 “Grinch” colorway causing the problems. This is the first time the colorway has dropped since 2010 and it was only announced a few weeks ago that they’d be coming on Christmas Eve.

Kobe fans and sneakerheads were all excited to maybe finally get a chance to purchase a pair of shoes — not just to wear, but to remember their fallen idol by after his tragic passing earlier this year. To bring back a bit of nostalgia. After all, this might be the greatest Christmas sneaker ever.

Instead, when the time came, they took a ton of L’s. The shoes were gobbled up by resellers in literal minutes. Fans were highly upset about it.

New City Edition court headlines Rockets’ 2020-21 uniform schedule

The uniform schedule for the first half of the 2020-21 NBA season is out, and it includes a new City Edition court for the Houston Rockets.

The NBA’s LockerVision website was updated on Tuesday with new information regarding the uniform combinations that each team will wear in the first half of the 2020-21 regular season.

For the Rockets, their 2020-21 Nike jerseys include not only a new blue City Edition, but a corresponding light blue court to match. It will be the first time in years for Houston to have an alternate court design. (For all other jerseys, Toyota Center will feature its usual court with red trim.)

For a team with red as the primary color throughout most of its history, the choice of light blue certainly draws attention. The Rockets briefly had navy blue uniforms in the late 1990s, but this represents the secondary color from that era, rather than the primary. In all, Houston will have five jersey sets this season: the red Icon; white Association; black Statement; blue City; and a new Earned set, which has yet to be released and will debut later in the season. The Icon, Association, and Statement uniforms are the same as this past season.

Jan. 28, home (with court) versus Portland
Feb. 15, road at Washington

The Rockets will divide up the four uniforms almost evenly, with the Red Icon set worn 10 times and the other three nine each.
