NFL announces 337 invites who have been invited to the 2020 Scouting Combine

The list of NFL Combine prospects for 2020 have become official.

While the NFL season may be over, draft season is officially here. First there was the East-West Shrine Bowl, then there was the Senior Bowl in January, and with the month of February here, it’s almost time for the 2020 NFL Combine. The first day for the annual event will be on February 24 specifically and it will end on March 1.

On Friday, the NFL officially announced that 337 players had been invited and the full list of prospects can be found here.

This year, the national champion Louisiana State Tigers will have the most amount of prospects in the annual event with 16. Behind them will be the Michigan State Wolverines and Ohio State Buckeyes with 11 prospects apiece, then the Georgia Bulldogs and Alabama Crimson Tide with 10 prospects apiece.

This year’s combine will be different from years past as the league will air it in a primetime slot. Those who take the field Thursday, Friday, and Saturday will take the field at 4-11 PM ET, while the prospects on Sunday will take the field at 2-7 PM ET. Drills fans will get to see their favorite prospects perform are the 40-yard dash, bench press, vertical jump, broad jump, three-cone drill, and shuttle run. Each group will also perform position specific drills.

The Jags have needs on both sides of the ball. In our list of offseason needs, we listed linebacker, tight end, and the offensive line as the Jags’ top-3 needs, respectively. Other needs worth addressing include the defensive line and receiver because they are strong positions within the 2020 class.

As we get closer to the start of the event we’ll release a list of players to watch for the Jags, who are coming up on a crucial season.

Georgia football alumnus not happy Tyler Clark left out of NFL Combine

A former Georgia Bulldogs defensive lineman took to twitter to express his disappointment in Tyler Clark’s lack of invitation to the NFL Combine.

This week, the NFL released its full list of draft prospects invited to the 2020 NFL Scouting Combine. The draft hopefuls will engage in several position-specific skills tests spread across several days, beginning February 27 in Indianapolis.

Of the 337 college standouts summoned to Lucas Oil Stadium, ten arrive by way of Athens, Georgia. The Georgia Bulldogs are among the best-represented college programs at this year’s edition of the Combine, but one former letterman believes there was a glaring exclusion.

Former Bulldog defensive lineman Toby Johnson, who suited up in Silver Britches in 2013 and 2014, took to twitter to express his disappointment in Tyler Clark’s lack of invitation to the event.

https://twitter.com/Future020113SEC/status/1225962331953418242

Clark saw serious action even his his true freshman season in 2016 and was huge contributor in his career beyond. It is worth noting that this is a draft class heavy with defensive line prospects, and maybe that’s the only way this snub makes sense, but a snub is a snub regardless.

It’s nearly certain that Johnson, who was recently signed to play in the new XFL, isn’t the only Dawg feeling disgust.

Here’s what Joe Burrow’s pre-combine prospect grade means

An NFL combine grade paints an interesting future for Joe Burrow.

Joe Burrow is officially one of the 300-plus prospects invited to the 2020 NFL scouting combine, where the Cincinanti Bengals will surely have a close eye on the probable No. 1 pick.

Ahead of the event, NFL.com unleashed the full scouting reports on the notable prospects, including a number grade.

Burrow’s grade? 7.07. The description? “Pro-Bowl Talent and Day 1 Starter.”

The author behind the grades and scale, Lance Zierlein, added more detail: “Has physical attributes and skill level that should create mismatches for his opponents on a fairly regular basis. He’s a high-ceiling prospect with Pro-Bowl ability and should quickly emerge as one of the top players on the team.”

The full chart:

In other words, Burrow’s current number is right below the “perennial all-pro talent” and “the perfect prospect” labels.

This is an inexact thing, of course. But Burrow’s bound to be one of, if not the highest-graded players at the combine.

All of which is to say — yet again — that the Bengals probably have an easy decision on their hands at No. 1.

The next important event of the NFL offseason is the combine, which will begin later in February and draft prospects will be weighed, measured, interviewed and tested.

In all, 337 prospects will participate. Here is a full list, as compiled by Draft Wire.

Michigan second-most with 11 NFL Scouting Combine invites

The Wolverines have the second-most players invited to Indianapolis of any school in college football.

NFL mock drafts have been all across the board as it pertains to Michigan. But it’s undeniable that the Wolverines has talent in 2019.

The maize and blue lost two draft-eligible juniors who declared, but also have nine seniors that very well could find their name picked come April in the NFL Draft.

But the road to Las Vegas starts later this month in Indianapolis with the annual NFL Scouting Combine, and the Wolverines boast the second-most invitees, tied with Ohio State with 11, but behind LSU who has 16.

That said, there’s a strong case to be made that all 11 could be drafted.

While most mocks to this point don’t include any now-former Michigan players in the first-round, we’ve seen some with center Cesar Ruiz near the tail end, and we wouldn’t be surprised if Josh Uche makes a push.

Here’s all 11 invitees:

  • Ben Bredeson, OL
  • Lavert Hill, DB
  • Khaleke Hudson, LB
  • Sean McKeon, TE
  • Josh Metellus, DB
  • Michael Onwenu, OL
  • Shea Patterson, QB
  • Donovan Peoples-Jones, WR
  • Cesar Ruiz, OL
  • Jon Runyan Jr., OL
  • Josh Uche, LB
