Pacers at Knicks: Key injuries

Knicks

  • SG Reggie Bullock (neck, illness) out

Prediction

Pacers 106, Knicks 98

Moneyline (ML)

The Pacers have won seven of their last 10 games and are 5-6 on the road this season. The Knicks are 3-9 at home. Back INDIANA (-250) as a solid road favorite even with New York firing its coach David Fizdale yesterday.

New to sports betting? A $10 wager on Indiana to win outright would profit $4.00.

Line/Against the Spread (ATS)

The Pacers are ninth against the spread on the road with a mark of 6-5 and come in three points per game above the cover line. New York is 5-7 ATS at home and comes in 5.6 points per game below the cover line (23rd).

Slightly lean toward INDIANA (-6.5, -110) to win by seven or more points Saturday. It delivers a $9.09 profit on a $10 bet.

Over/Under (O/U)

The projected total is set at 207.5 (Over: -110, Under: -110). Indiana averages 109.5 points per game and New York allows 111.3 per contest. The Pacers rank 23rd at 98.9 possessions per game and the Knicks are 27th at 98.1. With a new Knicks coach, there is too much uncertainty here. PASS on the O/U.

Denver Nuggets at Boston Celtics odds, lines, picks and best bets

Previewing Friday’s Denver Nuggets at Boston Celtics sports betting odds and lines, with NBA betting picks, tips and best bets.

  • SF Gordon Hayward (hand) out

Nuggets at Celtics: Odds, lines, picks and betting tips

NBA odds courtesy of BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports for a full set of today’s betting odds. Odds last updated Friday at 12:50 p.m. ET.

Prediction

Nuggets 109, Celtics 103

Moneyline (ML)

The Celtics are coming off a 112-93 win over the Miami Heat on Wednesday. They’ve won their last two games and six of their last 10 as they enter Friday in second place in the Eastern Conference. The Nuggets beat the Knicks 129-92 in New York on Thursday and suit up for their second back-to-back of the season. They lost the second half of their first one in late October, losing 109-106 on home court to the Dallas Mavericks in Game 2.

Still, the NUGGETS (+135) are the play as road dogs. No starter played more than 25 minutes in Thursday’s blowout victory and they’re better rested than most would assume for a back-to-back situation. Denver allows just 101.4 points per game to the opposition while Boston gives up 103.9 and is likely without a key defender in Smart.

Against the Spread (ATS)

Stick with the moneyline rather than taking a lesser payout to back the Nuggets on the spread (+2.5, +105). They haven’t lost a game by fewer than three points this season, and I like their chances of winning outright, anyway.

Denver is 9-9 ATS overall and 4-3-1 on the road. Boston is 12-6 overall and 5-2-1 at home.

New to sports betting? A $10 wager on the Nuggets to win outright returns a profit of $13.50, while the same bet on the spread fetches a profit of $10.50, with just two points of insurance in the event of a loss.

Over/Under (O/U)

The projected total of 206.5 is the lowest on Friday’s slate. As noted above, the Nuggets were able to rest their starters for much of the fourth quarter against the Knicks so the likes of C Nikola Jokic, PG Jamal Murray and SG Will Barton should be largely unaffected Friday. Take the OVER (+105).

Previewing Friday’s Los Angeles Clippers at Milwaukee Bucks sports betting odds and lines, with NBA betting picks, tips and best bets.

The Los Angeles Clippers (16-6) visit the Milwaukee Bucks (19-3) Friday at Fiserv Forum. Tip-off is set for 8:30 p.m. ET. We analyze the Clippers-Bucks odds and lines, with NBA betting advice and tips around the matchup.

  • SF Rodney McGruder (hamstring) out
  • SG Landry Shamet (ankle) questionable

Clippers at Bucks: Odds, lines, picks and betting tips

NBA odds courtesy of BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports for a full set of today’s betting odds. Odds last updated at 8:45 a.m. ET.

Prediction

Clippers 112, Bucks 108

Moneyline (ML)

The first-place team in the Eastern Conference hosts the Western Conference’s third seed. The Bucks have won 13 games in a row and enter Friday with a 9-1 home record. The Clippers have won their last two games, but are just 3-5 on the road to start the year. LA last played Tuesday, beating the Portland Trail Blazers 117-97. Milwaukee topped the Detroit Pistons 127-103 on the road Wednesday.

The value with the CLIPPERS (+135) is too great to turn down. They’re the better-rested club and the Bucks have taken advantage of a soft schedule during their winning streak. The Indiana Pacers (14-7) are the best team they’ve faced. LA will be their biggest test and the Clippers will handle a team slipping into cruise control.

Against the Spread (ATS)

The moneyline is a much more attractive play for the Clippers rather than taking a lesser payout with +105 odds on the spread of +2.5. A $10 bet on the outright win for the visitors fetches a profit of $13.50. The same wager on the spread returns a profit $10.50 with just two points of insurance in the event of a loss. Don’t leave money on the table.

The Clippers are 12-10 against the spread but just 2-6 on the road, while the Bucks are 5-5 ATS at home and 11-11 overall. The Clippers haven’t lost by fewer than three points this season. We’ll AVOID this line, but this is the spot to take the Bucks (-2.5, -125) if you expect the home side to win a 14th straight game.

Over/Under (O/U)

The Bucks are 11-10-1 against the Over/Under while topping the projected point totals by an average of 3.3 points per game. The Clippers are just 9-13 against the O/U and fall an average of 3.3 points shy of the line. Milwaukee (108.2 PPG allowed) and Los Angeles (107.8 PPG allowed) allow a combined 216 points per game. Take the UNDER 232.5 (-115).

Prediction

Nets 113, Hornets 108

Moneyline (ML)

The Nets have won seven of their last 10 games and are 5-6 on the road this season. The Hornets are 9-14 overall and 5-6 at home. Back BROOKLYN (-139) as a slight road favorite even without Irving.

New to sports betting? A $10 wager on Brooklyn to win outright would profit $7.19.

Line/Against the Spread (ATS)

The Nets are 17th against the spread on the road with a mark of 5-6 and come in 0.9 points per game below the cover line. Charlotte is 6-5 ATS at home and comes in a half-point per game below the cover line.

Slightly lean toward BROOKLYN (-2.5, -106) to win by three or more points Friday. It delivers a $9.43 profit on a $10 bet.

Over/Under (O/U)

The projected total is set at 217.5 (Over: -115, Under: -106). Brooklyn averages 113 points per game and Charlotte allows 112.8 per contest. The Nets rank eighth at 102.6 possessions per game and the Hornets are 25th at 98.7. Take the OVER 217.5 (-115).

Prediction

Nuggets 110, Knicks 98

Moneyline (ML)

The Nuggets have won seven of their last 10 games and are 5-2 on the road this season. The Knicks are only 3-8 at home. Denver has lost two games in a row but New York has lost seven straight. Denver is a chalky -358 Thursday night, but there’s very little risk. Back DENVER with confidence.

New to sports betting? A $10 wager on Denver to win outright would profit $2.79.

Line/Against the Spread (ATS)

The Nuggets are 3-3-1 and come in 1.1 points per game below the cover line. New York is 5-6 at home against the spread and comes in 3.5 points per game below the cover line.

The line opened at 8.5 points. Slight lean toward DENVER (-8.5, -106) to win by nine or more points. It delivers a $9.43 profit on a $10 wager.

Over/Under (O/U)

The projected total is set at 202.5 (Over: -115, Under: -106). Denver averages 106.1 points per game and New York allows 110.4 per contest. These are two of the lowest-paced teams, with Denver ranked 29th at 97.7 possessions per game and New York 26th at 98.1. Take the OVER (-115) with a small wager.

NBA odds courtesy of BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports for a full set of today’s betting odds. Odds last updated at 1:30 p.m. ET.

Prediction

Lakers 107, Jazz 103

Moneyline (ML)

The Lakers have won nine of their last 10 games and are a league-best 9-1 on the road this season.

The Jazz 8-1 at home.

Back LOS ANGELES (+110) as a slight underdog even with Anthony Davis (illness, shoulder) on possible load management watch.

New to sports betting? A $10 wager on Los Angeles to win outright would profit $11.

Line/Against the Spread (ATS)

The Lakers are 12th best against the spread on the road with a mark of 5-5 and come in 1.2 points per game above the cover line. Utah is just 4-5 ATS at home and falls an average of 0.1 points per game below the cover line.

Los Angeles is 3-2 ATS in its last five games while Utah is 2-3.

Lean to LOS ANGELES (+2.5, -115) to lose by two or fewer points, or win outright. It delivers a profit of $8.70.

Over/Under (O/U)

The projected total is set at 208.5 (Over: -120, Under: +105). Los Angeles allows just 103.7 points per game and Utah yields 105.1 per contest. These are two teams around the middle of the pack when it comes to pace. Los Angeles ranks 22nd at 100.41 possessions per game and Utah is 17th at 100.93.

A bigger concern is the Lakers have connected on the Under in six straight games. AVOID.

Moneyline (ML)

The Nets have won six of their last 10 games and are 4-6 on the road this season. The Hawks are 5-16 overall on the season and only 3-7 at home. Brooklyn is a reasonable favorite at -143 Wednesday night. Back BROOKLYN even without Irving.

New to sports betting? A $10 wager on Brooklyn to win outright would profit $6.99.

Line/Against the Spread (ATS)

The Nets are ninth-worst against the spread on the road with a mark of 4-6 and come in 1.9 points per game below the cover line. Atlanta is 6-4 at home against the spread and comes in one point per game above the cover line.

The line has been moving around this morning, dropping from 4.5 to 2.5. Slight lean toward BROOKLYN (-2.5, -115) to win by five or more points Wednesday. It delivers an $8.70 profit on a $10 wager.

Over/Under (O/U)

The projected total is set at 224.5 (Over: -125, Under: +105). Brooklyn averages 112.2 points per game and Atlanta allows 117.2 per contest. These are two of the higher-paced teams, with Brooklyn ranking ninth at 102.8 possessions per game and Atlanta 12th at 101.8. Take the OVER (-125).

NBA odds courtesy of BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports for a full set of today’s betting odds. Odds last updated Tuesday at 2:30 p.m. ET.

Prediction

Clippers 115, Trail Blazers 103

Moneyline (ML)

The Clippers have won 12 of their first 13 games at home which is second-best in the NBA to the Philadelphia 76ers (10-0).

The Trail Blazers are 8-12 overall on the season and 5-8 on the road.

Los Angeles is too chalky the the -500 odds representing only a 20 percent profit on the moneyline. AVOID.

New to sports betting? A $10 wager on Los Angeles to win outright would profit just $2.00.

Line/Against the Spread (ATS)

The Clippers are fourth-best against the spread at home with a mark of 9-4 and come in 5.8 points per game above the cover line. Portland is 7-6 on the road against the spread but comes in 1.1 points per game below the cover line.

Back LOS ANGELES (-9.5, -106) to win by 10 or more points Tuesday. It delivers a much more enticing $9.43 profit.

Over/Under (O/U)

The projected total is set at 231.5 (Over: -106, Under: -115). Los Angeles averages 115.4 points per game and Portland averages 113.6 per contest. These are two of the higher-paced teams, with Los Angeles ranking seventh at 103 possessions per game and Portland eighth at 102.8.

Pistons at Cavaliers: Key injuries

Pistons: SG Svi Mykhailiuk (knee) is expected to play, while SG Khyri Thomas (foot) is likely out a few more weeks. PG Reggie Jackson (spine) is also out until at least early January.

Cavaliers: SF Cedi Osman (back) and SF John Henson (hamstring) are each questionable, while SG Dylan Windler (shin) might be on the shelf another week.

Pistons at Cavaliers: Odds, lines, picks and betting tips

NBA odds courtesy of BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports for a full set of today’s betting odds. Odds last updated at 8:20 a.m. ET.

Prediction

Cavaliers 105, Pistons 101

Moneyline (ML)

The CAVALIERS (+120) are a nice value at home as short dogs. Neither of these teams has been very hot lately, and the Pistons (-143) are a much bigger risk on the road, where they have been even worse.

New to sports betting? Every $1 wagered on a Cleveland win profits $1.20 if the Cavs prevail. (Ex: Bet $10 to win $12.00, $20 to win $24.00, $4.55 to win $10).

Line/Against the Spread (ATS)

Take the CAVALIERS (+2.5, –106) at home against the visiting Pistons (-2.5, -115). For whatever reason, Detroit has had a difficult time on the road against its Lake Erie rivals in Cleveland, going 1-6 against the spread in the past seven trips to C-Town. The home team is also 10-3 ATS in the previous 13 meetings in this series.

Over/Under (O/U)

The Over might be the trend if you look at past results in this series, but the UNDER 212.5 (+105) is the play lately for both teams. The Under is 4-0 in the past four road games for the Pistons, and 5-1 in the past six at home for the Cavaliers. The Under is also 5-2 in Detroit’s past seven against Eastern Conference opponents, while Cleveland has hit the Under in seven of its last 10 games within the conference.

Chicago Bulls at Sacramento Kings odds, picks and best bets

Previewing Monday’s Bulls at Kings NBA matchup, with NBA betting odds, picks and best bets

The Sacramento Kings (8-10) are home to the Chicago Bulls (6-14) on Monday with tip-off coming just after 10 p.m. ET at the Golden 1 Center. We analyze the Bulls-Kings odds and lines, with NBA betting advice and tips around the matchup.

Place a legal sports bet on this NBA action or other games at BetMGM.

Bulls at Kings: Key injuries

Bulls at Kings: Odds, lines, picks, and betting tips

NBA odds courtesy of BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports for a full set of today’s betting odds. Odds last updated Monday at 2 p.m. ET.

Prediction

Kings 109, Bulls 101

Moneyline (ML)

After dropping their first three home games, the Kings have won their last five, though by an average of less than 3.5 points per game. Their defense has been key in the turnaround, with Sacramento surrendering 101 or fewer points in four of the wins — including holding Denver to 97 points in an overtime win Saturday.

The Bulls are 6-14 overall on the season and 3-7 on the road.

Sacramento is giving less than a 50-percent profit on the moneyline, but nonetheless take the KINGS (-223).

New to sports betting? A $10 wager on Sacramento to win outright would profit $4.48.

Line/Against the Spread (ATS)

The Kings are 5-3 at home ATS and 12-8 overall on the season (+0.1 points per game above projection). Meanwhile, Chicago is 4-6 on the road while allowing 1.6 points per game below the cover line. This becomes a razor-thin pick but the idea is that Sacramento can carry the pace of play a bit better than can Chicago.

Back SACRAMENTO (-4.5, -125) to win by five or more points Monday, delivering a much more attractive $8 profit.

Over/Under (O/U)

The projected total is set at 210.5 (-121 on the over, 100 on the under). Chicago and Sacramento may come extremely close to this number, making this a 50-50 coin flip. Even our predicted score marks the two teams for a combined 210 points. Since this could truly go either way, we recommend a PASS here.
