Xavier at Villanova odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Sunday’s Xavier at Villanova odds and lines, with college basketball expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”4141″ ]

The Xavier Musketeers (14-9, 6-6 Big East) tangle with the Villanova Wildcats (13-10, 6-6) Sunday afternoon. The opening tip at Finneran Pavilion will be at noon ET (FS1). Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s college basketball odds around the Xavier vs. Villanova odds, and make our expert college basketball picks and predictions.

Xavier has distance-bombed its way out of a mid-season slump. The Musketeers, who lost 5 of 6 games in a stretch from Dec. 14-Jan. 7, have rallied to go 5-2 since. The 5-2 span includes a win in the team’s last game on Tuesday as a favored-by-8 Xavier defeated the Georgetown Hoyas 74-69. The Musketeers shot 38.9% from beyond the arc in that one and have shot 36.9% on 3s over the last 7 games.

The Wildcats have dealt with a more recent slump. From Jan. 11-Feb. 1, Villanova went 1-5, struggling with its shooting (41.3% from the floor). That stretch included a 69-63 loss at Xavier on Jan. 14 (VU was a 3-point underdog), The Wildcats’ last game was Wednesday at the DePaul Blue Demons. NCAA-I leading scorer Eric Dixon was held to 14 points on a 4-of-14 shooting night, but ‘Nova won 59-49 as 6.5-point favorites.

Xavier at Villanova picks and predictions

Prediction

Villanova 71, Xavier 69

Moneyline

No interest. PASS.

Against the spread

Xavier is 2-1 ATS in the last 3 meetings and is 2-0 ATS in its last two trips to Villanova.

These teams are similarly ranked in mainstream analytics. KenPom pegs Xavier 51st and Villanova 54th. But the Musketeers have played a more challenging schedule, and the Wildcats have struggled defensively against better foes.

Recent road games — both in results and game flow — point to the Musketeers being able to make this a close one. BACK XAVIER +2.5 (-110).

Over/Under

The Under has hit in 4 straight series meetings and 8 of the last 9.

Pace-wise, Xavier is slower than average and Villanova is slower than molasses on a cold morning. Both teams can shoot the 3 quite well, but their launch frequencies are not off the charts (Villanova’s is top-third, and Xavier’s is near-average). The Musketeers counter with better free-throw frequency, but overall this one sets up for defensive effort and efficiency. And the Wildcats points-per-possession numbers have been on a steep decline of late.

Figure a slight edge to the UNDER 141.5 (-110).

Texas A&M at Missouri odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Saturday’s Texas A&M at Missouri odds and lines, with college basketball expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”4141″ ]

The Texas A&M Aggies (17-5, 6-3 SEC) and Missouri Tigers (17-5, 6-3) get together in Columbia Saturday afternoon. The contest at Mizzou Arena will tip off at 3:30 p.m. ET (SEC Network). Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s college basketball odds around the Texas A&M vs. Missouri odds, and make our expert college basketball picks and predictions.

Texas A&M and Missouri tote identical records into this conference showdown. The Aggies and Tigers are ranked 13th and 16th, respectively, in the USA TODAY Sports Men’s Basketball Coaches Poll.

Texas A&M has been off since last Saturday (Feb. 1) when it edged South Carolina 76-72. The Aggies were tabbed as -5.5-point favorites in that one; the defensive-minded and strong-on-the-boards squad from College Station is just 1-5-1 against the spread (ATS) over its last 7 games.

Missouri played Wednesday, clocking an 85-81 setback at favored-by-9 Tennessee. That midweek game was on the road. The Tigers — a five that can bomb it from distance — figure to be happy to be back on home hardwood for this one. Mizzou, which lost its last 9 home games last season, is 15-0 at home in 2024-25.

Texas A&M at Missouri picks and predictions

Prediction

Missouri 77, Texas A&M 72

Moneyline

No interest. PASS.

Against the spread

Since the flip of the calendar year, Mizzou is 8-1 ATS. After its last 2 straight-up losses, the Tigers have bounced back with ATS wins. And Missouri’s highly efficient offense (ranked fourth in BartTorvik’s Adjusted Offensive Efficiency) has held up against quality foes.

Texas A&M yields a lot of 3’s; Mizzou makes triples at a hefty clip (38%–2nd NCAA I). The Aggies defense has been on the slide over recent weeks.

Consider a partial-unit play (slim margin here) on MISSOURI -4.5 (-110).

Over/Under

The Over has cashed in 3 straight Mizzou games. The Tigers have not played a slew of talented offensive teams, and they can struggle in defending the perimeter.

Expect A&M to get plenty of put-back opportunities and both teams to spend a lot of time at the free-throw line. The OVER 144.5 (-115) is the value side of this SEC tilt.

Wisconsin at Iowa odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Saturday’s Wisconsin at Iowa odds and lines, with college basketball expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”4141″ ]

The Wisconsin Badgers (18-5, 8-4 Big Ten) and Iowa Hawkeyes (13-9, 4-7) clash in a Saturday matinee in Iowa City. The opening tip at Carver-Hawkeye Arena will be at 1 p.m. ET (NBC). Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s college basketball odds around the Wisconsin vs. Iowa odds, and make our expert college basketball picks and predictions.

Wisconsin — No. 19 in the USA TODAY Sports Men’s Basketball Coaches Poll — drubbed the Hawkeyes when the rivals met in Madison Jan. 3. UW easily covered as a 6.5-point favorite in a 116-85 triumph. The Badgers have gone 7-2 against the spread (ATS) since. That includes a 76-64 home win over 9.5-point underdog Indiana on Tuesday. Efficient-on-offense UW splashed on a dozen 3-pointers in that win, and the squad has connected on 42.6% of its triples in its last 5 games.

Iowa’s Jan. 3 setback at Wisconsin is part of a stretch that has seen the Hawkeyes go 2-7 ATS. UI is 0-6 ATS since Jan. 14; across those 6 games, the Big Ten’s worst defense (79.0 points per game) has yielded 85.4 PPG on a 53% mark from the field.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”4132″ ]

Wisconsin at Iowa picks and predictions

Prediction

Wisconsin 82, Iowa 79

Moneyline

No interest. PASS.

Against the spread

Iowa has been torched in the paint, but its defensive numbers don’t match some support analytics, and the Hawkeyes are a regression candidate we’re catching at the right time. Recent games aside, UI is also usually quite good at Carver-Hawkeye Arena and is coming off playing quite well in the Tuesday setback against Purdue.

Recent road games, even in ones that finished with straight-up and/or ATS wins, have been more of a down note for UW than what meets the eye. Figure a middle-pace Badger squad being ripe for a 3-driven backdoor falter at minimum.

BET IOWA +5.5 (-105).

Over/Under

The Under has gone 3-1 across the last 4 games for each side.

Wisconsin excels in forcing tough shots, and the Iowa defense figures as underrated in general. Look for the Hawkeyes to be responsible on defense after allowing the c-note at Madison on Jan. 3. And perhaps the noon local start makes for a sleepy start.

Washington State at Oregon State odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Thursday’s Washington State at Oregon State odds and lines, with college basketball expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”4141″ ]

The Washington State Cougars (15-9, 5-6 WCC) and Oregon State Beavers (16-7, 6-4) meet Thursday in Corvallis. The opening tip at Gill Coliseum will be at 11 p.m. ET (ESPN2). Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s college basketball odds around the Washington State vs. Oregon State odds, and make our expert college basketball picks and predictions.

The Cougars and Beavers are in their first of 2 seasons as affiliate members of the West Coast Conference. It’s a temporary arrangement for the 2 schools until a planned Pac-12 expansion takes place.

Meanwhile, Washington State is 0-4 straight up and 1-3 against the spread since Jan. 23, The Cougars, who have won 5 straight in this series, opened their season by going 13-3 through Jan. 4. But with turnover and defensive problems, Wazzou has gone just 2-6 since. WSU recently lost to San Francisco 75-51 as a 3.5-point road underdog with the Under (151) cashing.

Oregon State was blown out 98-60 by Gonzaga in its last game (Jan. 28). The Beavers were 15-point road underdogs as the Over (152.5) hit. The Beavers’ against-the-spread (ATS) loss marked just the second in their last 8 games. OSU runs a highly efficient offense at a slow tempo. The Beavers have shot over-53% in six of their last 10 games.

Washington State at Oregon State picks and predictions

Prediction

Oregon State 80, Washington State 71

Moneyline

PASS. The Beavers’ -300 price isn’t worth the risk.

Against the spread

Oregon State has a 4-game ATS cover streak on home hardwood, and the margins have been impressive. The Beavers — 4-1 ATS in the last 5 games vs. the Cougars — have shot lights out at home, and they are up against a Wazzou 5 that has struggled defensively in recent weeks.

The BEAVERS -6.5 (-118) have a rest advantage and are the play in this spot.

Over/Under

The Over has cashed in 7 straight OSU games.

The defensive-efficiency numbers for both sides have taken a tumble over recent weeks. Both are in the top 140 (BartTorvik) for the season, but they are near-100 spots lower since the turn of the year.

The pace here is a clash between rabbit (OSU) and turtle (WSU). Both sides knock down triples at a better-than-35% clip, and Oregon State figures to have some turnover-transition and free-throw-frequency edges.

Tulsa at Memphis odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Wednesday’s Tulsa at Memphis odds and lines, with college basketball expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”4141″ ]

The Tulsa Golden Hurricane (9-13, 3-6 AAC) and Memphis Tigers (18-4, 8-1) meet Wednesday in American Athletic Conference action at the FedEx Forum. Tip-off is at 8 p.m. ET (ESPN+). Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s college basketball odds around the Tulsa vs. Memphis odds, and make our expert college basketball picks and predictions.

Tulsa heads south with a 2-game losing streak in tow, and albeit in relatively close games the Golden Hurricane is 1-4 across its last 5 outings. Tulsa last played Sunday at Tulane as a 9 1/2-point underdog and lost 59-56. Since Jan. 7, Tulsa is 5-2 against the spread (ATS).

The Tigers — No. 15 in the USA TODAY Sports Men’s Basketball Coaches Poll — also played a 3-point contest Sunday. They won at the Rice Owls 86-83, but failed to cover a 9 1/2-point spread. They are 2-6 ATS over their last 8 games. G PJ Haggerty went 10-of-17 and had 26 points against the Owls. Haggerty ranks second in the AAC with his 21.6 points per game.

Tulsa at Memphis picks and predictions

Prediction

Memphis 84, Tulsa 66

Moneyline

No interest. PASS.

Against the spread

The Tigers play sharp defense and utilize turnover-transition ball to feed their offense. Memphis also leads the nation in 3-point accuracy (40.1%) and has been on target from distance of late.

Tulsa has played just 2 games rated higher than Quad III, so this game represents a leap in class. In a pair of Quad II games (this contest against UM is a Quad I), the Hurricane has gone 0-2 ATS.

Consider a partial-unit play on MEMPHIS -17.5 (-115).

Over/Under

Memphis plays an up-tempo brand of basketball and in this one should get plenty of looks in transition, on second chances after offensive rebounds and from the free-throw line.

Tulsa is a high-frequency team when it comes to attempts from beyond the arc, and UT has upped its percentage on 3s in recent weeks.

Marquette at St. John’s odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Tuesday’s Marquette at St. John’s odds and lines, with college basketball expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”4141″ ]

The Marquette Golden Eagles (18-4, 9-2 Big East) visit the St. John’s Red Storm (19-3, 10-1) Tuesday at Madison Square Garden in New York. The opening tip will be at 6:30 p.m. ET (FS1). Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s college basketball odds around the Marquette vs. St. John’s odds, and make our expert college basketball picks and predictions.

Marquette, No. 11 in the USA TODAY Sports Men’s Basketball Coaches Poll, is coming off a 77-69 Saturday home loss against No. 18 UConn. The favored-by-7 Golden Eagles were undone by the Huskies shooting 59.5%, including 12-of-19 from distance.

No. 10 St. John’s squeaked by Providence 68-66 Saturday. Favored-by-13 SJU led by 19 inside the 10-minute mark, but the Friars worked their way to a 66-66 tie in the final minute before the Red Storm won on G Kadary Richmond‘s bucket in the waning seconds. Marquette at St. John’s picks and predictions

Prediction

St. John’s 73, Marquette 69

Moneyline

No interest. PASS.

Against the spread

Even accounting for an easier schedule over recent weeks, St. John’s has displayed more consistency of late. Marquette is 1-3 ATS over its last 4 Quad I games.

Both teams play fast, but in small samples SJU has performed better in fast-vs.-fast match-ups. Give the host Red Storm key edges in defense and offensive rebounding. A typical Marquette edge in the turnover exchange figures to be softened against a St. John’s five that answers in kind.

ST. JOHN’S -2.5 (-115) is the value side of this top-15 tussle at MSG.

Over/Under

Two of the last 3 series meetings have hit the Under, and the low side is 4-1 across defense-minded SJU’s last 5 games.

Both sides do push toward quicker possessions, but 3-reliant Marquette has been off a bit from distance in recent games (32.3% last 5 games). This one doesn’t set up for a lot of 1s and 3s, and MU’s Quad I games have a definitive Under trend.

Oklahoma State at Houston odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Tuesday’s Oklahoma State at Houston odds and lines, with college basketball expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”4141″ ]

The Oklahoma State Cowboys (11-10, 3-7 Big 12) and Houston Cougars (17-4, 9-1) tussle Tuesday at the Fertitta Center. The opening tip-off will be at 8 p.m. ET (ESPN+). Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s college basketball odds around the Oklahoma State vs. Houston odds, and make our expert college basketball picks and predictions.

Oklahoma State is coming off an 82-71 win win over the Utah Utes Saturday. The favored-by-1 Cowboys, a team that has struggled defensively, was sharp in holding the Utes to a 40% mark from the floor. OSU’s 74.8 points per game allowed ranks 15th in the conference.

Houston — No. 5 in the USA TODAY Sports Men’s Basketball Coaches Poll — had a 13-game win streak snapped Saturday when the Cougars lost 82-81 in overtime to the 9.5-point-underdog Texas Tech Red Raiders. The loss marked UH’s first at home since Jan. 22, 2023.

Oklahoma State at Houston picks and predictions

Prediction

Houston 76, Oklahoma State 52

Moneyline

No interest. PASS.

Against the spread

The Cougars are 8-3 ATS over their last 11 games. The last time they dropped a straight-up game, they bounced back with a 28-point triumph as 17 1/2-point favorites (79-51 over Butler Dec. 7).

The efficiency and shot quality differentials for this one warrant a number this high. Per BartTorvik rankings, OSU is tabbed 115th. Houston beat No. 87 Utah 70-36, No. 58 Kansas State 87-57, and No. 70 TCU 65-46. The Cowboys dropped their first meeting this season vs. the Cougars by a score of 60-47 on Dec. 30. UH led that game by 22 points inside the 5-minute mark.

BACK HOUSTON -21.5 (-115).

Over/Under

The Under is 4-2 in Houston’s last 6 games and 3-1 in UH’s last 4 contests at home. And the Under is 4-1 is OSU’s last 5 road games as well as 4-1 across 5 series meetings since 2018.

The Cougars play at a glacial pace. They haven’t had a regulation-time contest hit the Over since Jan. 6.

Oklahoma State plays up-tempo. But in the 3 league games it has played against the slowest foes (Houston, Texas Tech, West Virginia) the Under has cashed with more-than 20 points of cushion each time. (The last OSU-UH game was tabbed at 137.5 and came in at 107.)

Charleston at William & Mary odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Monday’s Ohio State at Minnesota odds and lines, with college basketball expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Charleston Cougars (17-5, 7-2 CAA) and William & Mary Tribe (13-9, 7-2) tangle Monday in Williamsburg, Va. Tip-off from Kaplan Arena will be 8 p.m. ET (CBS Sports Network). Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s college basketball odds around the Charleston vs. William & Mary odds, and make our expert college basketball picks and predictions.

Charleston last played Thursday when it failed to cover as a 16-point favorite in a home game against Stony Brook. The Cougars rallied from a halftime deficit to defeat the Seawolves 81-74. Charleston ranks as one of the best teams in the CAA for defensive efficiency but was hurt by 12 Stony Brook triples in having its against-the-spread (ATS) record since Jan. 18 fall to 1-3.

William & Mary is also 1-3 ATS in its last 4. The Tribe, in fact, are just 1-5 ATS since Jan. 11. That includes 2.5-point favorite W&M getting blasted 96-55 by Campbell Thursday. The Tribe shot a season-low 26% from the field in that one.

Charleston at William & Mary picks and predictions

Prediction

Charleston 82, William & Mary 78

Moneyline

Against the spread

Charleston has won 6 straight games against William & Mary and is the program coming in with better form. The Cougars have acted accordingly over recent road games and are worthy of being favored in this one.

Charleston is the better defensive five and can defend the perimeter, which is a big key against a frequent-launch squad like the Tribe. Also, give the Cougars a significant edge in taking care of the basketball.

On just a slight lean, back CHARLESTON -3.5 (-110).

Over/Under

The Under has cashed in back-to-back W&M games and is 5-2 across the Tribe’s last 7. And the last 7 games of this series have produced a 6-1 mark for the Under.

Both teams are quite fast — top-20 on the KenPom tempo scale — in a league that otherwise plays quite slow. In an unusual-for-the-Coastal fast-fast match-up and with the Tribe scuffling at high speed of late, look for this one to come in under the wire.

Neither side is all that proficient in cranking out transition or second-chance buckets. The Tribe does well to get its points in 1’s (free throws) and 3’s, but nixing both are relative strengths of the Cougar defense. So, ticket this one for enough of a chance to land in the 150s.

TAKE THE UNDER 165. 5 (-105).

Georgia at Alabama odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Saturday’s Georgia at Alabama odds and lines, with college basketball expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Georgia Bulldogs (15-6, 3-5 Big Ten) and Alabama Crimson Tide (18-3, 7-1) meet Saturday in Tuscaloosa. The opening tip at Coleman Coliseum will be at 4 p.m. ET (ESPN2). Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s college basketball odds around the Georgia vs. Alabama odds, and make our expert college basketball picks and predictions.

Georgia last played Tuesday, snapping a 4-game losing streak with a 71-60 triumph (as a -7.5) over South Carolina. The Bulldogs, who shot just 40.5% from the field over the skid, shot 51% from the floor and 46.7% from 3-point range in the win.

Alabama — No. 4 in the USA TODAY Sports Men’s Basketball Coaches Poll — is back at home after a successful road trip to Mississippi State Wednesday. The Crimson Tide defeated the No. 11 Bulldogs, who were 1.5-point favorites, 88-84. UA banged home 15 triples in running its since-the-beginning-of-December mark to 12-1.

Georgia at Alabama picks and predictions

Prediction

Alabama 86, Georgia 75

Moneyline

No interest. PASS.

Against the spread

UA is 1-2 ATS over its last 3 home games.

The Tide are much the better all-around team here, but the Bulldogs have acquitted themselves well in most of their Quad I contests. Look for Georgia’s ability to get to the foul line and also generate second-chance points as being hidden addition factors that give the Bulldogs enough of a probability of keeping this one to a single-digit deficit.

TAKE GEORGIA +12.5 (-110).

Over/Under

The Over is 5-1-1 across the last 7 series meetings.

Alabama, which has tiled on Over in 3 of its last 4, plays very fast. The mid-paced Bulldogs have done well to slow down speed teams in the past, but this UA tempo is something different. Both sides can get to the foul line with frequency and pile up extended-possession looks off rebounds. Both also have some slightly suspect perimeter-defense numbers.

Peg the OVER 159.5 (-115) as the leverage play in this one.

Florida at Tennessee odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Saturday’s Florida at Tennessee odds and lines, with college basketball expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”4141″ ]

The Florida Gators (18-2, 5-2 SEC) pay a visit to the Tennessee Volunteers (17-4, 4-4) for Saturday-matinee Southeastern Conference action. The opening tip in the top-10 tilt from Thompson-Boling Arena will be at noon ET (ESPN). Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s college basketball odds around the Florida vs. Tennessee odds, and make our expert college basketball picks and predictions.

Florida heads into this showdown ranked No. 6 in the USA TODAY Sports Men’s Basketball Coaches Poll; Tennessee is No. 8.

The Gators have been off since last Saturday (Jan. 25), when they covered an 11½-point spread in an impressive 89-59 victory over Georgia. UF shot 53.1% from the field while holding the Bulldogs to a 35.6% mark. For the season, Florida has held foes to a 43% effective field-goal percentage; that ranks third in the nation.

The Volunteers, who lost at UF Jan. 7, dropped a Tuesday game against Kentucky (78-73) as 10½-point favorites and have been defeated in 3 of their last 4. UT was buried by 30 (73-43) in that Jan. 7 game in Gainesville but since 2019 is 6-0 vs. the Gators when playing on home hardwood.

Florida at Tennessee picks and predictions

Prediction

Tennessee 77, Florida 72

Moneyline

These are two statistically similar teams. The respective paces — faster-than-average for UF and molasses-slow for UT — drive scoring averages on a sliding scale.

But Florida has not played a particularly strong schedule, especially with regard to the offenses it has faced. The venue looks large here, and the VOLUNTEERS (-220) are a slight lean, Holding out for a -190 tag here may figure to be the best side or non-play.

Against the spread

The last 6 series meetings in Knoxville have seen UT go 5-1 ATS.

Look for Tennessee to get more key looks at the rim. But in a relatively slow game, the 4-and-a-hook makes for enough of an obstacle. The lean is on the Volunteers, but holding out for -3.5 or better is the prudent choice.

Over/Under

The Jan. 7 meeting hit the Under but was tabbed at 152.5 points, so this figure could well be too low.

Both sides have tremendous — and somewhat suspect, perhaps — 3-point defense numbers. Both teams get good looks near the rim and both are adept on the offensive glass. Fading the perimeter defense somewhat, the OVER 143.5 (-110) is the value side here.
